Lorraine glanced at Kira with a disgusted, sizing-up expression before her lips parted.
"Okay," she said.
Just okay?
Everyone who had been watching the scene unfold gasped, unable to believe the prodigy had just responded nicely to a nobody like Kira. Most of them expected embarrassment, maybe a kick in the gut like... well, what happened to me back then. But she just said "okay."
Kira couldn't believe it either.

"Why do you even want to be my friend?" she asked, crossing one leg over the other, her short school skirt revealing just a peek of her smooth thigh.

Lorraine scoffed. "Equal? You're delusional. A mere boy like you can't hope to be my equal."
Kira clenched his fists.
"Still... I'll try my best to catch up to you! And when I do, I'll ask you out on a date—because you're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen!!"
