At the Diamond Public Hospital, Sophia handed Cassius a file.
"Reynold's been quiet since the last hit. You think he found the lower vault?"
Cassius flipped through the document. "He's good at being silent when he needs to be. But he knows I'll notice if he crosses the line."
Sophia studied him. "What if he brings Levy into it?"
Cassius didn't answer immediately. "Then I'll have to accelerate things."
"She's already started asking questions."
"I know."
Sophia leaned against the wall. "You're not the type to hesitate. Why her?"
Cassius looked out the window, down at the city. "Because her memory was erased for a reason. And I'm not ready for her to remember."
Sophia didn't speak. She just watched him, understanding far more than she let on.

At the cafe, Celeste stirred her drink while Dana talked about orientation drama.
"I swear, if that guy asks me one more time how to print a PDF…" Dana groaned.
Celeste laughed. "You have the patience of a saint."
