In the scorching midday of midsummer, in the old city area near the port.
The pavement was slightly hot from the sun, and both pedestrians and vehicles were rare.
Tall buildings crowded on both sides, casting large shadows, retaining a hint of coolness.
A black Land Rover smoothly drove into the street, stopping at a parking space in front of the Chenxing Import and Export Trade Company building.
Fang Cheng stepped out of the car, closed the door with a reverse hand motion, and headed towards the company entrance.
In the spacious ground-floor lobby, a few clerks hurried by with documents in their arms.
Upon seeing Fang Cheng, they all stopped and respectfully bowed to greet him:
"Good morning, Consultant Fang."
"Good morning, everyone."
Fang Cheng smiled and nodded in response, crossing through the lobby directly to the private elevator.
He fished a black magnetic card from his pocket, swiped it on the sensor, and pressed the button for floor number "6".
