Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

"Forgive you for what?"

"For not being what you want me to be."

"What would I want you to be?"

"Kelsey, the girl who has done something to you."

"Well, Kelsey will not get away with it, not on my watch."

Ayla wondered when this stupid exercise would end. How long would she have to suffer?

"You seem tense, Ayla."

She wondered why she was aggravating her.

"I'm fine, Sir."

Ayla could breathe when it was over,r and she got up immediately,

"I see you want to run away."

She turned to him. "Sorry?"

"You seem good at it, Ayla. It's as if you have specialised in that."

"I see."

With that, she scurried away and went to get lunch.

"Ayla here," Carrie called her.

She got her food and went to the table. Ayla was formally introduced to some of the girls who were regular employees.

"The CEO is so compassionate, he chose you, Ayla." Said Casandra.

"Right, he didn't want for her to be left out," Carrie replied.

"What did you two talk about?" Delia asked.

Ayla was not offended; she knew her looks were not the best; she was simply plain. Not ugly nor pretty. Simply plain Jane.

"Nothing much, just how I found work and if it was too much. How I was holding up."

"That's all? It was just work related?" Shelly replied.

Ayla nodded quickly. She felt bad lying, but it was for the best; what would she tell them if she was being honest? That they had sex, and she was lying about not knowing who he was.

"Yes, that's all we spoke about."

"Not shocked, I told you. he doesn't want to be distracted, and he got the perfect candidate for it." This time it was Antonella.

"I just wish it was me. I could listen to him speak the whole day," Shelly replied.

After a long day, they finally went to bed, and she enjoyed it. The following morning, they had a new activity.

They had to be in groups of seven, and a paper in the middle. They all had to stand on it, and as the game progressed, they had to fold the paper smaller.

They began to assemble. It was her, Carrie, Shelly, Casandra, Delia, Antonella, and all of their eyes lit up when Xavier joined their group.

They all stood in a circle, and all of them had to fit on the square paper. Xavier was opposite her, which was great.

They held each other to keep balanced, and Ayla saw how Carrie and Delia clung to Xavier.

They made it through the next round, the paper was smaller, and there was no way they would fit.

They were thinking on how to go about it when Xavier took her wrist and pulled her across. He picked her up bridal style, and she blushed a bit.

They made it through the next round, and only one group was left for them to defeat. Carrie hopped on Delia's back, and so did Antonella on Shelly's back.

Xavier had not set her down once, even during the time to decide how to go about it. Everyone watched them like a hawk, or more like they watched Xavier.

He probably came off as the hot boss who was helping the less fortunate. Couldn't he have picked up someone else? Was he taking revenge for her, for lying about not knowing whom he was?

Ayla brought herself back to the present,

His scent was enticing, and she could feel his hot breath on her head. She remembered how it felt when he touched her that night.

They won, and he set her down gently,

They began to head back,

"Ayla."

She turned,

"Come here."

Ayla went to Claire and her friends to see what they wanted, she just wanted to go and relax for the rest of the day.

"Hey, Claire."

"Sit."

Ayla sat down,

"How do you know, Xavier?" One of the other girls replied.

"From work. I met him during the company dinner."

"Every angle I look at her, I don't think Xavier sees her that way. I don't know why we bother with someone like her." Another girl replied.

Ayla did not fight back; they were her seniors, and if she wanted her work space to be peaceful, she would just listen and take it.

Not that she had the guts to fight back; she was meek, and it was best for her to let them think what they wanted to.

"Fair point." Another one added,

"This makes him more hotter, how he cares and wants everyone to be included." Another girl added.

"You can leave." Said Claire.

"Thank you." With that, Ayla walked away, glad that this was over, and hoped that Xavier would not bother her.

All he brought was tension and unwanted attention from other workers.
