Chapter 29 - Back to the Present

8 YEARS LATER: PRESENT DAY

The ground was firm, yet broken.

On it, laid a woman, half flesh, half machine.

As ten men went to pick up the body, a man called on the pager.

"Don't damage her. Shelby is my best creation."

It was Luc. He thought for a second.

Well, that was a bust.

Luc originally created Shelby as a false Chaotic Demon, who was able to use super speed.

He used demon biology to create her, and experimented on someone else who could use super speed. Then, he made Shelby into a cyborg, further boosting her spewed & reaction time.

She was built to react faster than the Freedom Junkie in case of a fight, but unfortunately, it seemed like it wasn't enough.

"Whatever. I can always try again." He muttered to himself.

He could always rebuild Shelby, using more robot parts.

He was going to try.

Meanwhile, on another part of the planet, at the military base KRIEG, both Kyle & Shelby were with the 5 authorities.

The first authority, a woman by the name of Lake, smiled.

"Why are you guys so obsessed with killing him?"

Krieg stood up, with GoldenWing, the second authority, following suit.

"We need to kill him. Why are you guys making this so difficult?"

Kyle heard them argue. It seemed like they all acted as if they were the leader of the military base, yet none of them could actually accomplish anything in the meeting.

"Okay, genius?", said Goth, a young man in, well, gothic style, "How are we supposed to kill him, then? He can instantaneously dissappear and reappear halfway across the planet! It's not a matter of if we want to, it's just impossible!"

The Cold Hearted & the Wild Animal were listening in on this conversation.

The Cold Hearted looked up, confused. "Who is it that we're talking about?"

Everyone looked at her for a second, and continued arguing. They didn't have time to jog her memory.

"Look, i'm not saying that it's not difficult, but we can definitely do it." GoldenWing spoke out.

"Great. He can instantly teleport. Where is he right now? Do you even know?" Lake retorted.

"Shut up." Another authority rose. It was the Guerilla King!

Originally, he was believed to have died in the War-Torn Nation, during the Energy War that happened years ago.

But as of 3 years ago, he came back into the public, perfectly fine. He was, however, missing an arm.

"Shut it. You only became one of the authorities a year ago. You're the newbie." Krieg screamed.

The Guerilla King made a puking motion. He no longer wore his mask.

He was a very average looking white man, but he had small nicks across his face. He was clean-shaven & the brown hair he wore on his face didn't look out of place.

"Look, you think you control the 5 of us? You don't have powers, huh! Remember, i'm still a Chaotic Demon! I'll do whatever the hell I want, old man."

At this incessant arguing, Kyle spoke up.

"Hey, uhh.... Can I ask a couple questions?"

At that, the Guerilla King burst out laughing.

"Get the fuck out of the room!" Krieg raged to the Guerilla King, finally sick of him.

In response, the Guerilla King shot out in a burst of fireworks, but before he did, he spat out some very colorful words. Some were very... racist...

As he left, he broke a small portion of the ceiling on the way out.

Kyle, shocked, stood there for a moment.

"So, J... what is his end goal? Why is he doing all of this?"

Goth stood up. "Maybe he's-"

Krieg interrupted him.

"Jesse Essej. He wants to create the perfect world for himself. He wishes to create a world in which he has the capability to travel across time & space, and experience endless thrills and potential death. He wants to be able to freely travel across all dimensions, and to have his entire life be an eternal roller coaster. It's an incredibly selfish dream, only for himself. He'll do whatever it takes to achieve it, even if it means giving up ungodly power."

Kyle shook, and for a moment, he realized that the situation was getting worse.

The Wild Animal just stood by.

She uttered only a few words.

"I should have killed him in that forest."

She started to regret the situation entirely.

"Well, we finally have a weapon that we could use to beat him. You."

She said that as she pointed at Kyle.

"Me?"

In response, she gave a sly smile.

"Of course. He seems to obviously cared about you to some extent. Of course, he's still the type to brutally murder even those he loves just for an edge, but even that we can take advantage of."

Krieg nodded. "As long as we have someone with us that knows the Freedom Junkie in depth, than we can go towards steps to killing him. You are our ultimate weapon."

Kyle thought back to the forest, and the orb that he had, that J had stolen.

"What's with the orb?" Kyle asked.

"Orb?" Krieg responded with confusion. It was a weird question to ask. He didn't know anything about an orb.

Kyle, as if giving up, just gave a simple 'Nevermind', and just got up & walked out of the meeting room, with the Wild Animal following closely behind.

The Cold Hearted also left. It seemed like nobody could agree on anything. Staying in the room was pointless.

Kyle, while walking out, realized just how large the military base was. Once again, he was in awe of the size.

Quickly, he headed to the breakfast hall with the Wild Animal. There were tons of children, of a similar age to him, also very hungry.

Kyle sat down after being served a very good meal. There was rice, served with teriyaki chicken.

Another meal, however, was a dinner option that had been growing in popularity over the years. It was a plate, stacked high with large egg-like spheres, and had lots of golden red sauce that fell from inside them once cut.

It was very savory, but Kyle still reeled at the spice.

The Wild Animal also tried it, but burnt her mouth, and forced herself to drink from a bottle called 'Rain Juice'. Apparently, rain juice was also very popular on the base.

Spoiler: It was spicy, too.

She vomited up the sweet, yet spicy juice & began to drink from a water bottle.

"What th-"

Kyle started laughing at her misfortune, before quickly understanding why he was there.

The Freedom Junkie.

In the midst of this nice meal, he just couldn't shake it from his mind. J abandoned him. Now, he knew that J's full name was 'Jesse Essej', the boy who killed his parents, and went on to terrorize the world.

Kyle's brows creased, and he succumbed to anger once again.

"How could he do this to me." He wispered it, so nobody could hear.

He finally snapped out of his trance & noticed that the cafeteria was huge. Not a lot of people were here at the moment, but it could easily fit thousands.

This was a large military base. He wanted to explore.

Kyle walked out of the cafeteria, leaving the Wild Animal behind.

He looked out of a window to check his surroundings, only to realize that he was in a very interesting place.

The military base was located on a small island with lush green grass. On that island, it seemed that the base itself was incredibly large, but there were many other small buildings surrounding it.

Did other people live here? He wanted to go back & ask, but was stopped by a familiar face. The Cold Hearted.

Ice looked at him, and asked a strange question. "Do you miss him?"

Kyle stuttered, and was only able to give silence in response.

"You thought you knew him, but you didn't. Apparently, I've fought with him in the past, but I can't remember anything of the sort. The truth is... I can remember some things, but its entirely random what I remember or forget. The real problem is remembering."

She went on to dump a lot of trauma onto Kyle's plate, and he didn't really know how to respond.

"Remembering..." She gave a long pause.

The silence felt deafening, and finally, relieving all that pressure, finally spoke again.

"Remembering is hard. It comes at random times. I remember a woman, a girl, who used to travel with us. She was terrible, but... she died. She was murdered by a vicious Chaotic Demon. And... the Freedom Junkie, despite my problems with him, saved us from being ruled by this person. I still hate him, but..."

She paused, and, taking advantage of that pause, Kyle gave a bitter smile.

"I don't miss him. He was never my friend. He... just... he was using me. The next time I see him, we'll be enemies. I won't back down!"

Meanwhile, in yet another part of the planet, the world was about to change.

As lightning rained down, creating massive creases on the land, that thing hovered over him.

A giant flying object, as large as a mountain, fell from the sky at absurd speeds.

The sound it made was equivalent to a whirring buzz. Large land masses were being torn apart by the lightning, and down descended the scariest thing this world has ever known.

Road, the Chaotic Demon capable of controlling this massive amount of lightning, was desperate, breathing, struggling for air.

Above him, it flew!

He couldn't mistake it for anything else, it was obvious what it was!

A spacecraft!

"There's no wa-" Road was cut off!

A giant light from underneath the mass of superior technology rose from the undercarriage, warping up animals at a great speed, and from a small flap in the aircraft, one of THEM left the spaceship.

Road, in shock, couldn't believe his eyes. The small 4 foot tall creature, with a giant bulbous head, giant, black bug-like eyes, along with green, almost gray skin, and weird elongated fingers.

Without a doubt, it was an alien!

"Hello, human. We have arrived... What is this planet called?"

Road, in shock, knew he was screwed! These things showcased power on an entirely new level. Someone like him couldn't hope to kill one of them.

Their knowledge & growth of technology far surpassed human understanding, and they were not fearful of his godlike power in the slightest degree.

"So it has no name? How strange. You all just call it the planet. Yet you have no name for it? Very well, I shall call it... Terra Firma!"

Terra Firma, translating to solid ground, was the perfect name for such a world. There was much less water on this planet than a lot of others inhabiting earth.

"It seems that we have only 1 weakness on this planet. Your species tends to get sivk from something called 'The Common Cold'. We, however, have learned that this disease is fatal to us. We will create a vaccine. It may take us a couple of hours, though. Our technicians are inexperienced."

The alien continued talking, when Road, in absolute fear of being killed, decided once and for all. He was going to try to kill them!

As he created large masses of lightning, he tried raining down the thunder of a thousand rages upon them!

Unfortunately, the ship, and the aliens, were completely untouched. Some kind of weird nanotechnology blocked them.

"No way. That was my full power. That was all I had... I'm FUCKED!"

The alien let out a creepy, uncanny laugh.

"This human is slightly different from the other ones. He seems to be able to control the weather... or maybe just... lightning? Regardless, we will kill him. We don't need to experiment on someone like that. We are already capable of controlling the weather."

As the small creature said that, the nanotechnology formed into something greater: A giant laser in the middle of the sky.

It was so large & expansive, so massive in nature, that it dwarved the clouds, and made the sky look small!

At that moment, Road's last words came out.

"Oh, FUC-"

...

Completely evaporated, nothing left.
