Chapter 8 - Station Escape Part 2

The teacher closed the door behind her and prepared for her confrontation.

While Surik felt great concern for her mentor and Atton didn't know what to think, unfortunately, they could only continue on their path. The young amnesiac decided to move to the left, spotting a door that she opened with her lockpicking skill.

Upon opening the door, he saw a medium-sized room with several trunks and a central table. In the trunks, I can only find 4 computer tips, 4 pieces, and 1 adrenaline boost.

Then he left the room and headed to the front door, which he opened and was able to see another medium-sized room with several trunks and a console.

Upon searching, he was able to find items such as a repair kit, heavy armor, echani, vibro-machete, 65 credits, a Mandalorian shield, and melee weapons.

The brunette equipped herself with the vibro-machete she found to now have two weapons.

Then he went to interact with the maintenance console.

It was displayed on the screen.

 Herald Maintenance Control

 Damaged system

With a piece, he redirected the maintenance control system and managed to get it working with what was still functional, so he could see that the only function it could perform was to open the maintenance doors that provide access to the ionic engines.

The chestnut-haired woman selected the option to open the door and stepped away from the console. She went back to the junction and took the right corridor, where she saw an open door revealing several tubes on the walls. She crossed several curves of the tunnel until she reached an area with a scaffold where the machinery, shaped like tunnels and engines with strange components, was illuminated by a dim scarlet light, giving the place a shadowy ambiance. The scaffold went to the left, leading to another tunnel similar to the one she had entered, and then she could see beyond the tunnel another machine room with a scaffold illuminated by the same light as the other. The scaffold went straight ahead, wrapped in the same light as another chamber. To her left, she saw a console, and in front of her, she noticed that the scaffold led to a tunnel going to the right, but it was closed.

He approached the console and logged in, and was able to see the following on the screen:

Control of the Herald's ion engine

 System operating at minimum efficiency

 The options were only

 1. Activate the engine maintenance procedure

He activated the first and only option, causing the closed hatch to open.

 On the screen, the following:

 Ion engine maintenance procedure

 ... Refrigerant Soda

 ... Activated Activated

 Hatch open

He left the console and headed toward the open hatch on his right, where he could see another walkway curving to the left.

 - Tell me this is a joke. We're not going back to the mining facility for the fuel pipeline. It's madness! Rand exclaimed, seeing the extremely dangerous idea of his partner in this situation.

 - It's the only way to get to the hangar, and if you haven't noticed, the last few hours have been crazy. It's either go to the Falcon where I'm going or fight that Sith, and I don't think I have the necessary skills to defeat him yet. She questioned, the girl with chestnut hair was ready to continue on her path alongside her companion.

 - Very well, but I know I'm going to regret this. I assure the brown-haired boy, ready to embark on the journey with uncertainty about what might happen next.

Meanwhile, with the fragmented Sith Lord, he was in the same dimly lit hallway near the old woman.

 - I sense you, master. Weak... faint. The Dark Lord stated to the old woman, noticing the lack of power in his former mentor.

 - Your senses betray you, just as you betrayed me. Kreia replied, reminding him of his past actions.

 - After everything that has happened, you still live. You are hard to finish off. He admitted, the Sith witnessing as his master stood, and had not succumbed.

 - For someone as limited as you, perhaps. That you have fallen so far without learning anything... You have completely failed. She criticized, the old woman with white hair, her former student.

 - It would be your failure. Your whispers no longer crawl inside my head. I no longer suffer from teachings that weaken me. Sion clarified coldly to her former acquaintance, explaining that she no longer follows her way of thinking.

 - And now you run in search of the Jedi. They are all dead, except for one..., and a ruined Jedi will not be able to stop the looming darkness. I assure the fragmented being, believing that a simple Jedi with diminished power could achieve nothing.

 - Maybe. We'll see. Kreia declared, taking a defensive stance with her weapon in hand and facing Sion.

The dark being drew his lightsaber and activated it. The elderly woman, although weakened in her powers, managed to move to the right of her old disciple's attack. Kreia managed to stab him in the shoulder, although knowing it was useless. The dark lord kicked at her, but she managed to evade it in time. The fragmented being wanted to attack her with his lightsaber, but she dodged to the side, moving her sword horizontally, striking the hilt of the dark lord's sword while wearing a slight smile.

 - We were supposed to take away your power. Assured the doubtful Sith, contemplating that Kreia still had her reflexes, as he turned and launched attacks with his saber at his former master, while she retreated and sidestepped each attack.

 - Maybe yes or maybe no, perhaps I am a bit rusty, but not finished. "I declare," said the woman with white hair, ready to continue her duel.

Both launched themselves in opposite directions toward each other, their weapons held horizontally. As they attacked each other, they both cut off the hands that held their weapons. The woman let out a cry of pain, watching as part of her limb fell lifeless to the ground while she collapsed to her knees, holding the stump of her arm with the only hand she had left. Sion observed the same severance of his own body part, but he did not make a sound, not the slightest one; he was already used to being mutilated.

 - I must admit, you still have your skill, just because this was a somewhat fun training. I'll let you go just to follow you as your new apprentice. Let the game begin, get up and run, old friend, before she changes her mind. I order the dark being, willing to give Kreia an advantage at least for now.

 Meanwhile, with Meetra and Atton,

The amnesiac felt an infernal pain in her hand without knowing why, while she let out moans like whimpers of discomfort and fell to her knees on the ground, as this pain tormented her mind and body inexplicably.

 - What... what's happening? Are you okay? The brown-haired boy asked, worried, seeing the vulnerable and strange situation of his classmate.

 - Damn it, hang in there, partner! There's just a little more to go. Don't give up now! The flirtatious boy asked, thinking that the brunette might be exhausted after everything they had just experienced, while he held the Jedi with his hands so she could get up.

- What happened to you? Asked Atton, wanting to know exactly why Surik collapsed halfway.

 - My hand. I felt as if I were putting it into molten carbonite. Kreia... I think she is injured and seriously. Surik assumed, knowing the strong bond she has with her teacher and how she can feel what she feels.

 - Huh? How do you know that? The brown-haired boy hesitated, wanting an explanation of how the amnesiac could feel or know that.

"I think it was because of my Force bond with her." Meetra concluded, saying what she already knew but had not confessed to Rand before.

 - Look...! If she is suffering, that suffering gives us time that we must not waste stopping them, and we must leave as soon as possible. Especially if the walking corpse gets tired of playing amputations with her and decides to use us for practice. Rand said while joking about the sith's emaciated, fragmented appearance that was following them.

 - Alright, let's go. Surik seconded, ready to continue on her path.

The amnesiac and the flirtatious boy accessed the fuel duct of the frigate; as they went thru it, they could see the small utility droid T3-M4, which was sparking, indicating its malfunction.

 - It's a utility droid. It seems they hit it with an ion charge and threw it there. I theorize, the brown-haired boy, seeing how the automaton didn't respond and seemed broken.

 - Dii... riit. Did... it? He explained to the automaton about his hostile encounter with the HK-50 droid and how he left it in that place.

 - I know. We already encountered the "protocol" droid and it also attacked us. The ex-Jedi clarified, telling the robot that they had already had their confrontation with the assassin droid.

 - Dii... drii... Iit explained T3-M4 saying that he was incapacitated by the assassin droid.

 - But tell me, how did you survive? The amnesiac thanked and asked the automaton how it managed to keep functioning after the attack by the hitman robot.

 - Dee, dreee-dee-deet. The droid explained that the other automaton threw him into this place after temporarily deactivating him.

 - Did he just throw you into this fuel pipe? Meetra doubts the treatment of the supposed protocol droid as a utilitarian mechanic.

 - Dii-diit. He responded, the automaton suspecting that HK-50 just wanted to keep him away from the Exile to prevent her from interfering with his plans.

 - It seems he just wanted to keep you away until he found a way out of the station, with us. Surik concluded about the motivations of the mechanical assassin with the little droid.

 - Dee, dree, dee-deet. The droid concluded, regretting not being able to continue helping.

 - Don't blame yourself. If you hadn't taken us out of the administration level, we would never have made it this far. Surik thanked the little robot for what it did for them to be able to get out of here.

 - Dii - third. He complained, saying that he could have done more for them if he hadn't been incapacitated and that he would continue to support her regardless.

"Come with us, then, we're running out of time." The amnesiac girl kindly asked her mechanic companion to follow her.

 - Dii... driit. I gladly accept, T3-M4, to go with the group of ex-Jedi and contribute as best as you can.

Surik equipped the droid with a flamethrower for droids and an ion blaster for droid I, an anti-impact armor for droid I, an optimized droid interface, a maintenance unit for droids, a motion tracker for droids, a mining laser.

Having the utility droid with her, Surik took the opportunity to install the reflex package on Rand using the surgical tools that the automaton had.

Meetra examined her mechanical friend in more detail, noting the marks of damage from all kinds of weapons on his body, the paint chipped, as well as metal patches or replacements for his components.

 - It seems you have suffered a lot of damage over the years. The brown-haired girl observed the physical scars of the battles the utility droid had lived thru.

 - Dii... diit. The droid confirmed, implying that it did happen.

 - How much damage? Asked the ex-Jedi, worried about what might have happened to the little one.

 - Deii-riit, diidiit bi-riiip. I clarify T3-M4 saying that he got everything he sees from many adventures in the past and also lost part of his memory, as well as his utilities because of it.

 - So you've lost many programs in your behavior core, in addition to the damage to your chassis? I inquired, the brown-haired girl, seeing that the little one had lost part of his memories and his utilities.

 - Dii... Diit. He complained, the automaton somewhat sad about losing the abilities that made him more useful.

 - Well, I'm sure you'll regain what you lost. I'm glad to have you on our team. Come on, Surik, motivating the robot to keep going along with her.

 - Beep-boop, beep-boop! Suggested the utility droid, saying that perhaps the brown-haired girl could fix it.

 - It seems you need a bit of routine maintenance. Suggested Surik, ready to make a repair for her mechanical friend.

Meetra repaired a bit of her companion's main chassis and also partially fixed his memory core. She could see that she couldn't make any more repairs due to her lack of experience, so she continued on her way with her group.

The ex-Jedi continued thru the fuel duct where she could see a mine, as well as a stash, which she opened to find a repair kit, components, and a circuit.

Then Surik tried to retrieve the mine, but she couldn't, so she proceeded to deactivate it. She noticed that to her right there was a hatch, so she opened it to get out of there. Once outside, she saw a room where in front of her there was a spider droid as well as a cylindrical container, and behind her, she saw two more.

Surik's group went on high alert. Atton shot the farthest automaton, while Meetra, with her two vibro-weapons, confronted the nearby spider that was behind them, and the ex-Jedi attacked it, dismantling it.

Atton noticed a sensor sphere, which he destroyed with several precise shots. The brown-haired girl tore apart another spider that was in her way and noticed a curve to her right where she saw more spiders as well as another fuel duct with a hatch.

The amnesiac remembered that she had the ability to disable droids with the Force and used it on the two spiders that were around the corner. Just as Rand's support with his pistols and the automaton's flamethrower managed to finish off the robots.

They looted the remains, found a minor sonic detonator, a sonic grenade, a neural pacifier for droids, and then checked the container they saw where there were chemical products.

Then they went to the gate of the other duct and upon opening it, they saw a sonic mine inside which Surik disarmed. Then they saw another gate which they opened, allowing them to see another area where there were two more spider droids. One of them was attacked by the brown-haired boy and his pistols, while the other was attacked by Surik and his automaton. Then they saw a staircase to their left and something to the right; further down, they saw another spider droid as well as another duct with a gate which was exterminated by the utility droid. Then they saw a container where they found components and adrenaline vigor. Then they went to the other duct where they opened the gate, saw a mine that Surik deactivated, then saw another gate which they opened, and saw two humanoid mining automatons. One was taken down by the flirtatious boy and T3-M4, while the other was cut down by Meetra.

The ex-Jedi examined the corpse she could see and found 36 credits, 3 energy shields, adrenaline vigor, then they exited thru the duct gates, climbed up the ramp where they saw a connecting platform with another ramp, they noticed a console which Surik interacted with, where the following was displayed:

 Peragus Emergency Field Station

 Emergency lockdown in progress

 Console commands

Then they saw the only function it had, which was: Deactivate emergency field to exit the ramp

The brown-haired girl used the only and first option, which deactivated the energy fields blocking the way. The group moved up another ramp where the energy field was now deactivated. As they passed thru the threshold, they could see a hallway with windows along it, filled with humanoid mining droids. It was also connected to another hallway, and at the other end, it was connected to an elevator.

He went to the side where the hallway connected to the other, where he saw 2 humanoid mining robots, which he disabled with the droid deactivation, while with T3-M4 he went for the 2 droids near the elevator, attacking them first with his ion blaster and flamethrower. Atton shot with his twin blasters at the pair of droids near the elevator, as well as the one left in the hallway along with Surik's swords. After finishing off all of them, the ex-Jedi took 48 credits from the remains of their fallen adversaries.

The group took the nearby elevator, which went to the Peragus docking bay.

They arrived at a medium-sized room with a trunk and an open hatch at the front where they could see another room, where they saw a window at the front thru which they could see the Ebony Falcon. To the left, they could see a curved hallway to the right, and on that same side, it was filled with windows along it. In the hallway, there were humanoid droids, one after another. Atton attacked the first one with his pistols, then Surik attacked the second one with her vibroblades. The utility droid used its ion weapon along with its neural pacifier for droids, managing to weaken the automatons that his companions were fighting. After destroying the first two, a third one followed, which they attacked together, finishing it off. Finally, they could see an entrance to another room where a ramp was observed. Upon entering, they saw several computers in various parts of the area.

The brown-haired boy went toward the door and spoke to the ex-Jedi.

 - This door is magnetically sealed. I can't believe it! The ship is right there and we can't get to it. Rand expressed himself somewhat disappointed, as if discouraged by not being able to reach where he should have.

 - Beee-reeeet! "Beep! Beep!" explained the utility droid that the console could be the key to opening the door.

 - Then go to the terminal and open it. Meetra ordered the automaton to access the console.

 - Huh? What does that pile of junk say? The brown-haired boy asked about what the droid said.

 - The droid says it can open the hangar door by accessing the computer on that ramp up there. The ex-Jedi clarified what the mechanical being needed to do for them to pass.

 - How can you understand that noise? Rand doubts her friend's ability to understand T3-M4's language.

 - I don't remember, but it could be that in that life I had before losing my memory, I must have learned their language or spent a lot of time with them. The amnesiac woman concluded, pondering what possibility could have given her that ability.

 - Well, if he can open the door from the terminal up there, I won't be the one to stop him. Atton expressed, ready to let them do what was necessary to open the hatch.

 - Better I do it. The ex-Jedi took charge, wanting to do whatever was necessary to open the hangar door.

To then advance with her group, they moved downwards and encountered two more droids of the same type, which they destroyed together. They then saw a small room that connected to another tunnel like the previous one, also having many mines planted. Meetra successfully deactivated the explosives. Then she saw a small room that had a curve to the left where there was a door, which she opened, and behind it was a room with an armored gate to her right, which was closed. Next to it was a console and also a window that showed a tunnel flooded with green gas, which she knew from previous experience was deadly.

She approached the nearby console, and the following appeared on the screen:

 Decontamination Console

 Orders from the main console

 Notice: system

 Active decontamination

He could see that it wasn't working properly, so he used a piece to redirect the system from the main console and was successful with it as he could see that the functions were

 1. Access the remote camera controls Access the remote camera controls

 2. Open the decontamination camera Open the decontamination chamber

He accessed the first option and only saw what the chamber was like from the other side of the glass.

Then he pressed the option to open the decontamination chamber, but saw that it was closed, as he continued with his task due to the gas. So the only option was to use his skill with computer terminals to shut down the system, or the other option would be to break the console to save those skills.

 - Atton, take my breathing mask, I don't like wasting computer tips, I'd rather break the console and use those tips another time. Argument, Surik decided to refrain from using those parts for another occasion.

 - You really take a lot of risks to save a little, dear miser. Rand mocked, seeing how his friend preferred to risk her neck rather than spend on resources.

"Just put on the mask and we can get out of here." She asked something demanding, the ex-Jedi ready to carry out her risky action to reach the ship.

The brown-haired boy did it and put on the mask.

The Jedi drew her weapons and broke the console with several cuts, causing it to explode and the door to open. With that, the room was flooded with gas. Surik used her speed in the Force to dash down the hallway behind the door and avoid dying from poisoning. She managed to get out of there, then saw a hatch that she opened with her lockpicking skills. She found a small room with boxes and some containers. She opened what she could, taking out 2 repair kits. Then she opened another hatch and was able to see the hangar in front of the freighter that would take them away. She also saw several boxes that she went to check to take everything she could, which included 3 medpacs, 1 repair kit, 49 credits, 1 energy shield, chemicals. In the broken droids, she found 2 repair kits, 1 droid armor, 2 movement trackers for droids, 1 droid I reflector. After taking everything she could, she finally boarded the ship.

The brown-haired boy sat in the pilot's cabin, ready to fly the Ebony Falcon, and could see on the console that the instruments indicated there were presences approaching the ship.

 - We have company, the radar indicates a possibly hostile presence and I don't think they are surviving miners. Quick, go to the turret, I'll activate it, defend the freighter, I need time to start the engines! Rand ordered, getting alert, seeing the proximity of enemies heading toward their location.

The ex-Jedi took control of the laser turret and began a rain of fire on the Sith soldiers that appeared in the hangar, gunning them down one after another while they took cover behind boxes and containers until she finished them all off.

Upon exiting the turret and heading toward the Falcon, checking for any enemy stowaways on board, she saw Kreia, which surprised her, but her surprise turned into concern upon seeing that one of her hands was missing.

 - Kreia, you're alive! Your hand... what happened to it? Surik was surprised to notice the absence of part of his teacher's limb.

 - There's no time. We must leave now. The old woman demanded, worried about her pursuers who were hot on her heels.

Atton took off the ship from the hangar, dodging asteroids as well as the Herald's shots. The ex-Jedi handed several medpacs to the woman with white hair and went to the cockpit to see what the pilot had to say.

The frigate broke free from its moorings at the mining station and began its pursuit thru the asteroid field, while inside the freighter

 - If they catch up to us, we're dead. And if they keep failing, then too. We have everything in our favor. Rand joked sarcastically, calculating the chances of not making it out alive from here.

 - Dwee-Dweeerrrr-bee-DEEEEET! The utility droid questioned the pilot's lack of optimism.

 - Someone shut that garbage compactor up. The brown-haired boy complained upon hearing the irritating beeps of the automaton.

"Hey, do you know how to pilot this or not?" Meetra hesitated, seeing that perhaps her partner was inexperienced in what he was doing.

 - I do everything I can and it's not enough. What did you do to make those guys so angry? Rand expressed, somewhat worried about not being as good a pilot as he would like to be to get out of here.

 - Well, either they catch us and destroy us, or they hit a steroid and make the whole field explode with us inside. The pilot considers those possible worst-case scenarios for them.

 - Can we jump to hyperspace? She asked, the brown-haired girl, checking if they could use that option now.

 - With all these asteroids around us, no. We would enter hyperspace in tatters. We have to get out of this field first. The brown-haired boy reasoned as he continued piloting the freighter, avoiding the surrounding asteroids like the Herald's shots.

"But if we clear the field, we'll be in their sights." The Atton concluded, knowing that this possibility was also not an option.

 - Do what you can to keep your distance. We'll get thru this anyway. The ex-Jedi reasoned with her comrade about what they should do in the meantime.

 - What about the asteroids? They can end up destroyed by us or by them. Right? The old woman thot about detonating the field to be able to get out of there.

 - That could destroy the entire field, the colony, and maybe even us. We might not even be able to jump to hyperspace in time. Argued the flirtatious boy, knowing the risks involved in what he was about to do.

 - Then we'll die here. You have already decided. Kreia concluded, seeing the almost nonexistent chances of getting out of here alive.

 - Duuuuuu. The little droid feared, thinking that perhaps they might not be able to get out of this situation.

 - There has to be another way. Keep dodging them until we clear the field, then we'll try to jump to hyperspace. Surik reasoned, contemplating that single possibility as the only viable option for survival.

 - Hold on tight, sit down, and buckle up! This is going to get really intense. Rand warned as he prepared to make very sharp evasive maneuvers to get out of here as soon as possible.

The freighter moves with agility and grace among the asteroids and the Hammerhead's shots until the latter fired at a large meteorite that exploded and caused a chain reaction that blew up the entire field. Fortunately, the Ebony Falcon managed to get out of there just in time and jump to hyperspace.

 - The end -
