Berlin found her room thanks to a servant, after taking a stroll. She entered the room and was stunned by what she saw. The suite looked like it was in a palace. Pulling the heavy cobalt curtain open with the remote, she looked out of the windows. It was all blue and green. Trees, birds and flowers everywhere. The sun was hidden by the clouds. Underneath, servants were going about doing their duties.
She glanced behind her. The king-size bed was placed in the middle. On top of the white sheet, a thick layer of rose petals was laid to form the shape of love.
"Such a waste" Berlin wondered how many roses they had to get to make all this.
She bit her bottom lip as she mulled over what nearly happened.
As her head drew close to him, and her hand touched his chest, she could clearly feel his heartbeat. The steady rhythm was soothing. She was surprised at her willingness a few minutes ago. Which had become a frequent thing. Why was she so emotional?
He was clearly into it but it was only natural to be attracted and to lust over someone, right? Berlin closed her eyes to calm her nerves. Trying to kiss Karlos was wrong- so wrong.
The sound of sniffles could be heard. She didn't know when she started crying. She let out a sigh shaking her head inwardly.
The door pushed open with Karlos stepping into the room slowly before closing the door.
It was as though his heart broke seeing her sobbing.
Taking a deep breath, he walked up to her.
"Are you...Ehem..." Karlos uttered after a few seconds of silence. "Are you crying?"
"Of course not," she answered her voice a little hoarse.
"Let's sleep we have an early day tomorrow." Immediately after he said that, he scooped her up, earning a surprise gasp from Berlin. He hugged her closely as he strode towards the bed. When he reached the king-size bed, he put her down gently on her back.
"Look into my eyes and tell me the truth..."
She placed her hands around his neck, pulling him closer. "Do you have feelings for me?"
Her expression turned serious. Her eyes never left his. To be honest it had been a long time since she felt so many emotions and all in a day.
After what happened to Berlin in her previous life, she decided the best way to protect herself was to build a thick wall around her heart. And close its doors and not let anyone in so easily.
So she tried to condition herself to be detached from everything and not to get emotional about anything but those walls tumbled down and hardly put up a fight when he was around.
The myriad of emotions she felt in her past life for him, seemed to have gotten much bigger. She was not used to feeling a surge of emotions. But she was not confused about why this was happening. Her EQ wasn't low. She knew this was all because of her husband.
Before meeting Karlos, she was not even aware that she could feel love, jealousy, and hatred, all within the span of five minutes.
Everything was really simple. To avoid this complication, sudden kisses, and misunderstandings, she had to know what she meant to him.
He gazed into her ocean-blue eyes like she had urged him. He could see it all. It wasn't like he didn't see it before but he wasn't sure.
Now that the space he had been creating was taken away from him, Karlos felt the connection strongly.
His heart ached when he started to see her in a new light and what he had caused her and now she was crying because of him.
"I am sorry for asking." Berlin began noticing his unwillingness to respond. " I am sorry for not..."
Not giving her any more time to apologize, Karlos leaned in and captured her lips with his. He didn't want to push her away anymore.
He was tired of it all. None of these distancing matters now.
Unlike the other times when their kiss was unexpected even though they let it come from their hearts, this time there was no more holding back. There was no stopping. Berlin did not give him a hard time.
Even she was tired of it all. She just wanted him and when he kissed her, she parted her lips willingly, welcoming his tongue to explore her inside.
Although the kiss was slow, they could both feel the love from it as every fiber in their bodies came alive because of it.
Minutes later, they pressed their foreheads together with their eyes still closed. It was like they were still taking time for the whole thing to sink in.
It had just happened. Was it that he finally accepted her heart? Berlin did not know what to say. She did not want to assume too much so as not to be heartbroken again but this was joy.
She loved it, loved him, liked every single bit of his touch.
Soon her heart began to thud fast in her chest. She didn't know if he was thinking what she was thinking.
Wondering what was going on in his mind, Berlin opened her eyes to look at him only for her to find him opening his eyes at that very minute.
"I want you..." He whispered into her ears sending shivers down her spine.
He didn't need to say anything else. That simple kiss and his eyes said it all.
She just remained speechless unable to utter anything.
As if on cue, Karlos dipped his head forward for another kiss of which Berlin eagerly met those lips.
