Just as the respective Kage were preparing to escort their reanimated predecessors back to their villages, several of the First and Second Generation leaders expressed a sudden wish: they wanted to visit Konohagakure before returning.
After all, most of them had rarely set foot in the Hidden Leaf during their lifetimes — and certainly never as free spirits without political duties or the pressures of war. This was their one opportunity to wander the village streets without constraint.
Tsunade saw no reason to refuse. The Fourth Shinobi World War had just ended, the villages were enjoying a rare period of peace, and the dead simply wanted to see what they had missed in life.
"Alright," Tsunade agreed, after a moment's thought. "Jiraiya, you take them on a tour. I'll handle the Hokage's work in the meantime."
With that, she left to attend to her duties, while Jiraiya took the lead.
Here, the group of legendary figures — Senju Hashirama, Senju Tobirama, Sarutobi Hiruzen, Namikaze Minato, and even Uchiha Madara — were joined by Konohamaru, Udon, and Moegi, following casually behind as they strolled.
They hadn't gone far before they crossed paths with Jiraiya and his own small entourage.
"Old man?" Hiruzen's eyes lit up.
"Little Jiraiya?" Hiruzen replied with a smirk.
The Third Hokage and his former student greeted each other warmly. Jiraiya's gaze shifted, and when he saw Hashirama and Tobirama, he quickly bowed his head respectfully.
"Shodai-sama, Nidaime-sama," Jiraiya said, giving each a nod.
Hashirama threw back his head and laughed heartily. Then, noticing the group trailing behind Jiraiya, he raised a brow in amusement.
"Looks like you've gathered quite the crowd yourself. Heading out for a stroll as well?"
"They wanted to see Konoha too," Jiraiya explained. "Tsunade asked me to take them around."
Hashirama stroked his chin and grinned proudly. "Good, good. You should take a look. After all, this village is the result of Madara and me!"
Madara rolled his eyes at that. Please don't say it in such a nauseating way, Hashirama.
Onoki chuckled at the exchange. "Hashirama-sama, you're still as amusing as ever!"
The Second Tsuchikage, Second Mizukage, Third Raikage, and Fourth Kazekage all stepped forward to greet Hashirama in turn. The title God of Shinobi wasn't just for show — the First Hokage commanded the respect of every generation of Kage.
Hashirama's reputation among the First Generation Kage of each village was unmatched, and naturally, their successors held him in equally high regard.
The current Kage — Gaara, Raikage A, Terumi Mei, and Onoki — offered polite bows and greetings, each acutely aware that they stood before living legends.
Not everyone was as cordial toward Tobirama, however.
The Second Mizukage fixed Tobirama with a cold glare. "Tobirama, you bastard… You're the one who created the Edo Tensei. Just look at the chaos it's caused in the shinobi world!"
For once, the Second Tsuchikage nodded in complete agreement with his old rival. "On this matter, I stand with the Mizukage. Second Hokage, you were born a schemer!"
Tobirama's brows twitched in irritation. "I didn't start this war — so why are you blaming me? And besides, when dealing with sly old foxes like you two, I need every trick I can get."
His voice turned firm, unwavering. "To protect Konoha, I've done what was necessary."
The Second Mizukage and Second Tsuchikage were momentarily silenced. For all their bluster, they too would do anything for the sake of their own villages.
Hiruzen stepped in to defuse the tension. "Let's not dwell on the past. Besides, without Nidaime's jutsu, none of us would be standing here together right now."
The Second Mizukage grunted but said nothing further.
Hashirama clapped his hands together. "Enough! We've finally gathered, the war's over, and peace is here. Let's enjoy it. Come on — I'll take you to the Hokage Rock. The view of the village from there is the real sight to see!"
With Hashirama leading the way, the group moved out.
Given their strength, it took them only seconds to reach the top of the Hokage Rock. The sudden movement alarmed the nearby Anbu, but the moment they recognized who had arrived, they withdrew instantly. No one wanted to risk offending this particular gathering.
Standing at the highest point in Konoha, Hashirama gazed out over the sprawling village, his expression filled with wonder.
"I never thought I'd stand here again, looking over the whole village… Madara! Come here!"
Madara crossed his arms and sighed, but walked over anyway.
Hashirama grinned, grabbing Madara by the arm and pointing toward the view. "Look, Madara — this is our village. This is what it's become."
Madara's sharp eyes swept over the sight below. To be honest, after everything — after the deception by Black Zetsu, after the collapse of his own ambitions — he realized that Hashirama had always been his White Moonlight, and that Hashirama's ideal had always been his own.
He had simply abandoned it in favor of the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
Tobirama looked out over Konoha with equal satisfaction. Turning to Hiruzen, he gave a curt nod. "Monkey, you've done well."
Hiruzen smiled faintly. "I only did what I could… though I failed to protect the Fourth Hokage. I let him die too young."
Minato shook his head with a gentle smile. "Sandaime-sama, you've done a fine job."
From the side, Jiraiya chuckled. "I always said being Hokage was too much work. Glad I never listened to you, old man — let Tsunade deal with it instead."
Hiruzen snorted, scowling. "You… If you'd just put your heart into it, you might have been an even better Hokage than Tsunade!"
Before the First and Second Hokage, Hiruzen still held onto the regret that Jiraiya had refused the role. In his mind, Jiraiya had always been the most suitable candidate, and it was only after his refusal that Tsunade was chosen.
The other resurrected Kage — the Second Tsuchikage, Second Mizukage, Third Raikage, and Fourth Kazekage — moved closer to the cliff edge, gazing down at the village.
Gaara, Raikage A, Terumi Mei, and Onoki stood behind their predecessors, silent as they took in the view.
The Second Mizukage broke the silence. "Konoha truly lives up to its name. Trees everywhere… and leaves dancing in the wind."
Madara's lips curved upward faintly.
It was he, after all, who had named the village. He still remembered the day: a single leaf had drifted into his hand, a hole in its center. Peering through it, he had gazed upon the village they had built — and the name had been born.
Hashirama laughed. "It was Madara who came up with the name. I wanted something to do with soil instead!"
Madara gave a low growl. "Better than whatever name you were thinking of."
The current Kage exchanged glances — none of them had known that Uchiha Madara had been the one to name the village, not Hashirama.
Onoki stepped forward. "Hashirama-sama, if you ever have the time, I invite you to visit Iwagakure."
The Second Tsuchikage added with a smile, "I agree. Come to the Stone Village, and I'll personally show you around."
Hashirama beamed. "Alright, alright."
Not to be outdone, the Third Raikage quickly extended his own invitation. The Second Mizukage followed suit. The Fourth Kazekage gave Gaara a nudge, and the young Kazekage added his own welcome to Sunagakure.
This was, after all, a time of peace — and the God of Shinobi was more popular than ever. Konoha was clearly the strongest of the villages now, and it was wise to maintain good relations.
Onoki's invitation came from simple diplomacy. For the others, there were deeper political considerations. It would take time to change old rivalries.
Hashirama agreed to them all, seeing it as an opportunity for Naruto to strengthen ties with every village.
And if it gave him an excuse to drag Madara along to see the world, all the better.
Tobirama sighed inwardly. Why is it always Madara this, Madara that? I'm your brother too, you know…
