Konoha Village.
Inside Orochimaru's underground laboratory, the air smelled faintly of disinfectant and chakra residue. The glass walls reflected the cold light from the ceiling, where mechanical arms hung silently, ready to move at Orochimaru's command.
Both Orochimaru and Kabuto were already prepared for surgery, waiting patiently for Naruto to return from the moon with Ōtsutsuki Toneri.
Kabuto, adjusting a complex set of instruments, glanced toward Orochimaru and asked with an inquisitive smile, "Orochimaru-sama, tell me—what does this Ōtsutsuki Toneri from the moon look like? Is he anything like the Sage of Six Paths? Or perhaps like Hamura Ōtsutsuki himself?"
Orochimaru, sitting cross-legged on the experimental table, flipped through a series of old scrolls and documents. A grin slowly spread across his pale face.
"What's this, Kabuto? Are you planning to study the body of an Ōtsutsuki clan member?"
Kabuto chuckled, eyes glinting behind his glasses. "Heh, nothing escapes your eyes, Orochimaru-sama. You're right, I am very interested in their biology. Just think—what kind of body could survive on the moon, in such an environment, and still manipulate chakra powerful enough to rival gods? It's fascinating."
Closing the book with a soft thud, Orochimaru replied, "Indeed. You and I have already dissected and analyzed the genetic structures of both the Uchiha and Senju clans… even the unique physiology of the Uzumaki clan. But the Ōtsutsuki are beyond them all—every special trait we've ever seen can be traced back to the Sage of Six Paths and his descendants."
Kabuto nodded eagerly. "Exactly. Even the requirements for awakening the Rinnegan depend on merging the powers of both the Uchiha and Senju bloodlines. So I can't help but wonder… what would the body of a pure-blooded Ōtsutsuki be like? Could it be the ultimate fusion of both powers?"
Orochimaru's eyes narrowed, his tongue flicking slightly as he spoke. "An intriguing theory… and soon, we'll have the chance to confirm it."
At that very moment, a golden flash filled the laboratory.
"Uncle Snake! Kabuto! We're back!"
Naruto's familiar voice echoed across the room as he appeared, the Flying Thunder God mark pulsing faintly on his wrist. Beside him stood Toneri Ōtsutsuki, expression calm but guarded.
Orochimaru's slit pupils gleamed with delight. He immediately stood up and approached. "Ah… Naruto, you've returned. And this must be the Toneri you mentioned."
Kabuto quickly set aside his equipment and joined his master, studying Toneri carefully. His analytical gaze scanned Toneri from head to toe before he murmured, "Fascinating… there are differences. His chakra signature feels… ancient."
Naruto frowned slightly. "Kabuto, what are you talking about?"
Kabuto waved his hands innocently. "Nothing, nothing. Just medical curiosity."
Toneri took a step forward, his calm eyes observing the two scientists. "My name is Ōtsutsuki Toneri," he said politely. "A descendant of Hamura Ōtsutsuki… the last guardian of the moon."
Orochimaru smiled slyly, his voice smooth as silk. "Welcome, Toneri. I am Orochimaru, and this is Kabuto. We're both allies of Naruto. Consider this your first warm welcome to the Earth."
Toneri gave a faint nod. "I see."
Kabuto stepped forward enthusiastically. "There's no need to be tense. We're just here to assist with your transplant procedure. Please, lie down here, and we'll perform a few checks first."
Toneri remained still until Naruto nodded reassuringly.
"Go ahead, Toneri. Don't worry—they transplanted my Rinnegan before. You can trust them."
Toneri blinked in mild surprise. "Your Rinnegan was transplanted, not awakened?"
Naruto shrugged. "Long story. Just trust me."
Without another word, Toneri complied, lying down on the cold metallic table. Kabuto attached monitoring devices to his arms and chest, recording chakra flow and vital signs.
Toneri frowned. "What are you doing?"
Kabuto explained cheerfully, "Just monitoring your blood pressure and chakra circulation. It's a safety check to prevent your chakra from spiking uncontrollably during surgery."
Toneri raised an eyebrow. "Can't I just control my chakra myself?"
Kabuto froze for half a second, smiling awkwardly. "O-of course you can. But this is standard procedure."
Orochimaru approached, flipping open a notebook filled with data. "It's merely precautionary. Even the best shinobi benefit from accurate readings. It improves the safety and precision of the transplantation—Naruto went through the same process."
Naruto, watching from the side, tilted his head skeptically. That's not what they did for me. He recognized the new instruments and silently sighed.
Orochimaru shot him a subtle glance, a silent understanding passing between them. Naruto caught on immediately.
"Ah, yes! Exactly like that," he said quickly, forcing a smile.
Toneri relaxed, exhaling softly. "Very well. I'll leave it to you."
Orochimaru nodded at Kabuto. "Prepare the anesthetic."
Kabuto obeyed, mixing a greenish liquid in a syringe. He handed Toneri a cup of clear fluid. "Drink this."
Toneri didn't hesitate—if Naruto trusted them, so would he. He drank it in one go.
"Now," Kabuto said, grinning mischievously, "try counting backward from ten."
Toneri blinked. "Count? What for?"
"Just do it. You'll understand soon enough."
Toneri frowned but complied. "Ten… nine… eigh—"
Before he could finish, his limbs went numb, and his vision blurred. Realization struck too late. "What… did you… give me…?"
Kabuto pressed a hand on his shoulder, whispering calmly, "Relax. It's just an anesthetic. You'll be fine."
Within seconds, Toneri was unconscious.
Naruto crossed his arms suspiciously. "Hey, Uncle Snake, Kabuto—you're not planning to study Toneri, are you?"
Kabuto chuckled softly. "Naruto, don't be so tense. We won't harm your friend. We're only collecting a few samples for research—some blood, some chakra readings. That's all."
Orochimaru nodded with his trademark grin. "Nothing invasive. You have my word."
Naruto sighed, taking out a storage capsule. "Fine. Just don't push it. A few vials of blood won't kill him."
"Understood," Orochimaru said pleasantly.
The surgery began. Kabuto carefully adjusted the anesthetic levels—he had doubled the normal dose, just in case Toneri's Ōtsutsuki physiology resisted standard human sedatives.
Orochimaru extracted the Byakugan for transplantation, while Kabuto meticulously monitored chakra flow, temperature, and blood saturation. The procedure lasted over an hour and a half.
When it was over, Toneri's eyes were bandaged, his breathing stable. Naruto sat nearby, resting his chin on his hand, watching the two scientists work.
Meanwhile, Orochimaru and Kabuto eagerly analyzed Toneri's blood samples.
"Lord Orochimaru!" Kabuto suddenly exclaimed, his voice trembling with excitement. "We've found something incredible!"
Orochimaru glided over instantly. Both of them stared at the microscope like children who had just discovered a new world. Their enthusiasm was infectious—but Naruto couldn't help rolling his eyes.
"Unbelievable," he muttered. "They're like kids in a candy shop."
He turned back toward Toneri, sighing. "Man, this guy sleeps like a log. It's been two hours."
"Hey, Kabuto," Naruto called out. "How much anesthetic did you use on him? He's still out cold."
Kabuto, still focused on the data, replied casually, "Not much—just twice the normal human dose! I figured, since he's an Ōtsutsuki, his body must be far more resilient, so I doubled it."
Naruto blinked. "Twice the normal dose?!"
Kabuto shrugged. "Better safe than sorry."
Naruto rubbed his temples, muttering under his breath, "You two are insane…"
But just then, Toneri's fingers twitched. His chakra began to stir faintly, like ripples across a pond.
Naruto leaned forward with a small smile. "Looks like he's finally waking up…"
