Chapter 535 - Chapter 535 – Dating Again

Might Guy's home.

Kakashi hugged a pillow tightly against his chest, sprawled across the small sofa, fast asleep. The light from outside filtered in through the curtains, making the mess of last night look even more chaotic.

As for Guy, he had drunk far too much. Eventually, he had slumped over completely, head tilted, still sitting in his wheelchair. His arms dangled loosely at his sides, and his mouth hung open as he snored. The legendary Taijutsu master, the Blue Beast of Konoha… reduced to a drooling drunk.

The two old friends stayed like that the entire night.

The Next Morning

Kakashi was the first to wake.

He blinked slowly, vision blurry, the world spinning a little. He groaned, lifted his head, and looked around.

"…Where…?"

Turning to his right, he saw Guy — head leaned back at a painful angle, mouth slightly open, a tiny trail of drool down his chin.

That was when Kakashi remembered:

Right. He'd drunk with Guy last night.

He touched his forehead.

"Oh… my head hurts…"

Kakashi stood carefully, holding onto the arm of the sofa for balance. After shaking off some dizziness, he went straight to Guy and patted his shoulder.

"Hey… Guy. Wake up."

Guy grunted, swatting lazily at Kakashi without opening his eyes.

"Don't… bother me…"

Then he smacked his lips twice and slipped right back asleep.

Kakashi sighed. Typical.

He checked the wall clock — luckily he hadn't overslept. The clock's hands pointed to 7:30 AM.

Since there was no waking Guy in that state, Kakashi headed to Guy's bathroom.

The sink was lowered, adjusted for Guy's wheelchair height. Kakashi had to bend far forward just to use it, splashing cool water on his face and rinsing his mouth. He wiped off with a tissue before stepping back out.

The cleaning instinct kicked in. Kakashi began gathering the bottles, cups, chopsticks, plates, everything they had used last night. He bagged the trash, then loaded all the dishes into the sink.

Soon, the clinking of dishes echoed through the small apartment.

The sound finally stirred Guy.

He slowly cracked an eye open, saw Kakashi washing dishes, and frowned.

"What are you doing… so early…?" he muttered.

Kakashi didn't even look over. "Go to bed early, wake up early, and exercise. Wasn't that your slogan for decades? It's time to get up and show your youth."

Guy groaned dramatically, rubbing his eyes.

"I admire your dedication… but even youth needs sleep!"

He wheeled himself toward the bathroom to wash up.

By the time Guy returned, Kakashi was placing the cleaned dishes upside down to dry.

Guy looked at him suspiciously. "You didn't brush your teeth?"

Kakashi raised a hand defensively. "Do you have a new toothbrush? No? Then what am I supposed to brush with? Anyway, I rinsed my mouth. Compared to spending a week on missions in the mountains, this is nothing."

Then he added, "I'm going out for breakfast. What about you?"

Guy rolled toward the door. "I'm coming! I need food to replenish my youth!"

Kakashi smirked. "Then let's go."

He pushed Guy outside, heading toward a row of morning food stalls.

Outside — Breakfast Time

As Kakashi pushed him along, Guy suddenly asked:

"Hey, Kakashi… Last night, you told me you were single. Was that true?"

Kakashi kept his eyes forward.

"Yeah. Why would I lie?"

Guy went silent for a moment. Then, wearing his usual confident grin, he declared proudly:

"Kakashi! When you finally get married, I want to be your best man!"

Kakashi chuckled, looking down at him.

"Okay. I'll save that spot for you."

Guy beamed, then pointed ahead.

"Kakashi! That shop! Their breakfast is delicious! Let's go there!"

Kakashi nodded. "Alright, alright."

After eating, the two parted ways. Kakashi headed toward the Hokage Office Building, while Guy rolled toward the Ninja Academy to help with morning Taijutsu training as he often did despite his injury.

At the Hokage Office

The moment Kakashi stepped inside, Shizune approached. She stopped abruptly, her nose twitching.

"Where were you last night? And what is that smell…?"

She leaned forward and sniffed. Her eyes widened.

"You were drinking?!"

Kakashi scratched his head awkwardly. "Ah… yeah. Just a little."

Shizune crossed her arms, glaring sharply.

"You know your father was waiting for you last night, and you decided to go out drinking?! Do you have any sense of family responsibility?"

Kakashi blinked in surprise at the verbal assault.

"Uh… how did you even know my dad was waiting? Did… you go to my house?"

For a moment, Shizune panicked, but she quickly straightened and waved dismissively.

"That's not the point! The point is—where were you last night, and who were you drinking with? Speak!"

She took a step forward. Kakashi leaned back, slightly intimidated.

"I drank with Guy. I had too much and fell asleep at his house."

Shizune narrowed her eyes. "Really?"

"Yes, really! Why would I lie about that?"

She scanned him up and down, evaluating every twitch. Finally, she nodded.

"Fine. But from now on, tell your family if you're going to stay out late. Otherwise, they'll worry."

Kakashi nodded slowly. Something about this felt… odd.

Shizune walked to her desk. Kakashi turned toward his seat — but before he even sat down—

"Come to my place for dinner tonight."

Kakashi froze.

Shizune's cheeks were tinted pink. Kakashi frowned lightly.

"Shouldn't I go home first and tell my dad?"

Shizune squinted. "Why? So you plan to spend the night at my place?"

Kakashi stared. She stared back. Kakashi panicked.

"Let's… just talk about it tonight."

He dove into his paperwork.

Lunch — Wedding Planning

In the cafeteria, Shikaku, Choza, Ibiki, and Yamanaka Inoichi joined him.

They ran through final coordination for Jiraiya's upcoming wedding.

Shikaku: "The envoys from various nations are already traveling. They'll arrive tomorrow or the next day. They'll all be housed at the guest residence like during Naruto's inauguration."

Ibiki: "All banquet security details are confirmed."

Choza: "Service personnel are fully staffed. Sai will manage all guest seating, same as Naruto's ceremony."

Kakashi nodded. "Sounds like everything is ready."

Shikaku added, "Jiraiya and Naruto went to check the decorations."

Kakashi sighed. "Getting married is too troublesome."

Choza laughed. "Big events are always troublesome."

Kakashi thanked them for their hard work.

Evening — Leaving Work

Shizune and Kakashi left the office separately. At the next intersection, Shizune purposely slowed so he would catch up.

"Heading home?" she asked casually.

"Yeah."

Shizune smiled softly. "Then I'll go home first and start cooking. Come over later."

"Alright."

She glanced around. Seeing no one, she stepped close, kissed him quickly, and hurried off.

Kakashi watched her retreating figure and smiled to himself.

He turned around—

And froze.

Not far away, Might Guy, in his wheelchair, was staring directly at him with the expression of a betrayed lover.

Kakashi: "…"

Guy pointed dramatically.

"Kakashi! You… You truly deserve to die!"

Then he spun his wheelchair around and fled with incredible arm speed.

Kakashi reached out helplessly.

"Guy! It's not what you think! Guy—!"

But in a blink, Guy was gone — moving faster with just his arms than many shinobi could with ninjutsu.

The legendary spirit of youth was truly terrifying.
