Chapter 16 - The Name Of Your Soul

Sirius smiles at the guard at the door his hands warm in his pockets. Jonah, he knows is already well ahead to the top of the tower with Mex ready to launch the attack. At his side is Alish in the a red dress which he must acknowledge is better than anything else he's seen the horror mage in.

"Weapons."

The thought that he would need a weapon today haunts him deeply. His smile fades as Alish hands over her blast gun walking right past the other guards. Today of all days he would have to call upon Gomaa without his rifles and soon his mind would leave him. He pulls out the red bracelet, kisses it and sighs the fear away.

Tonight is a night to kill and his hand fears no man.

"Weapons."

"I hear you my good man. It is rather hard for me to part with my dear old friend being a hunter and all," he says giving up the only rifle he carried.

He smiles once more tipping his hat to the man or biome, walks on.

"tonight we kill a king, tonight we kill a king, tonight we..."

"Be silent!"

Some folk around him stop staring at him, one lady giving him the most fearsome look of disgust. He smiles at her feeling her stare tearing through him, till.

"amiss I say my dear darkness. something amiss here and I do not like--"

Sirius takes a swig of the wine disgusted by the taste of it. The wretchs could not really even get good wine on a day they all deemed so special. He takes another swig just to drown the voice in his head staring ahead at the people. He half-retches from the sight off all these heathen gathered in hopes of a saviour. Scum all them! To think that the man awaited was only a man and that he held all this sway over them.

Perhaps they all did deserve what came tonight these faithless things and the Crossworld would receive them in due time.

"And who might you be?"

He turns spilling his drink on the woman's dress. It's the fearsome-disgust lady.

"Good lord, I have spoilt your dress! I must apologise my lady, I was rather surprised. I am.."

"Yes that would happen to anyone really. I have been told my presence is quite the thing," she says.

"Your dress my lady,"

She stares at it as if she only has seen it and smiles.

"Ah yes that is quite the mess. I fear it'll make a stain and I shall have to throw it away. Such a shame I'll say. I should clean what I can however. Excuse, erm..."

"Sirius,". The name escapes from his mind.

"Igni."

"help the lady you fool"

He follows her almost knocking over a poor fellow laughing with his mates.

"Pardon me Igni, if I may offer a hand," he says.

A hand reaches before his face a glass in it. Alish gives him the weirdest look her other hand on his shoulder pinching him.

"I will help the lady Sirius and you will have this. Whisky just as you like it," Alish says.

He sighs staring from each lady, Igni looking amused.

"Yes I suppose that would be better. My sister Alish will help you then my lady. I shall find you after."

He walks away, disgust seeping from his tongue. Alish would be better being his harlot than being his sister in any one world they existed together because he would kill her before anything with her blood was related to him. Her choice in drink is stellar however.

He finds a seat closest to the bathrooms the two ladies walked into hoping to see any of the remaining Enforcers or even a Knight. The King, huh the 'King', would be close and this night would end before it began. He finishes his whisky just as Tanji walks up to him. The suit the gam has on fits him better than Sirius expected. Resources well spent he notes.

"Hello my good man," Sirius says.

The gam sits holding his wine at an angle too dangerous.

"I must say, the wine is truly terrible here."

"And to think their lord and saviour will be drinking the same absolute garbage as we," Sirius says. The gam might be the only person he liked in this wreck of a team he was handed to. A decent bloodline too, the delight.

"Is the whisky the same?" Tanji asks looking over as Alish and the lady Igni walking to the table.

Sirius standing says "You would be surprised,"

The lady Igni sits next to Sirius, Alish further from anyone another glass of whisky in her hand. Tanji stares at her hand longingly the wine glass in his half-emptying itself onto the table.

"Now then will you answer me Sirius?" Igni says.

Her voice, he wishes to describe to himself because it somehow reaches past the ever consuming one in his head. Shrilly a bit but so calm. Not as much as his wife's voice but the words work their way into the corners of him.

"I am a hunter my lady."

"What kind?"

"Well the best I suppose,"

"Well! Last I heard the best hunter was the Black Gun or The Ghoul Jack. Maybe I need to look into you Sirius," she says. Her smile is too appealing for a lady about to die.

"Tell me of one of your adventures then Sirius. I should like to hear about your feats. What is it they call you in the Wastelands?"

A slight bang on the table brings him back from the allure of Igni's voice. He shakes his head as he watches Alish stand from her seat her eyes on the lady Igni. Tanji empties his glass sitting up straight.

"What seems to be the problem my dear?"Igni asks.

Sirius looks around for anyone who might have noticed the girl's noise. Turning back to her, from the corner of his eye he notices a man larger than even Tanji headed for them with what appears to be a plasma rifle.

"Truth mage," Alish says.

"What?" Sirius asks.

"She's a truth mage, the bitch,"

The white in Alish's eyes are gone, the blackened veins around her eye corners showing. Tanji stands too looking at Sirius like a child.

"Whatever do you mean child?" Igni asks still smiling.

Maybe she does smile too much even for Sirius. He takes another look at the large man approaching looking for any chance that he might be a guard, but his eyes tell it all. Empty and all too red even for the wretchs who smoke gan in this city. The plasma rifle loads the sound attracting scared faces and little yells. Sirius looks around for any guards. None.

"amiss I said. something's amiss here I said my darkness,"

"Tanji I need you to get my rifles from the guards outside. Alish deal with this bitch." He says meeting the large man.

"STOP."

Tanji stops in his tracks, Alish too. Sirius feels the air become heavier on his skin his legs becoming lead. He watches everyone else in the room around him slow down and stop as the lady Igni stands from her seat. She smiles at him the bitch as she touches his hand then his chest. She embraces him reaching up to his ears.

"Hello Mr. Tieno Light,"

He watches the skin on her face move by itself till it morphs into a face only he knows. His biggest mistake in this garbage wasteland of a city and the most idiotic thing he just might have done.

"Do you remember me sir? Oh how I longed for you to hold me once more like you did that night," she says.

Then the most disgusting thing happens. She morphs once more but into something truly terrible. The eyes break his heart and the voice kills something inside.

"my darkness you call to me?"

"I do."
