Chapter 401 - The Arrival

"Hey, my father is really excited that this time we're going to South Carolina; our home is there after all." A simple-looking soldier was talking to his friend, and as he said that, he was wearing a full paratrooper kit.

"You could request to serve in South Carolina, that way you could return to your old home… Of course, cleaning up all the shit will be really annoying and very time-consuming." His friend said while checking his rifle.

Many talked about how incredible it was to keep advancing in reclaiming the country; after all, no one thought that something like this would happen in such a short time. And if right now they are in constant movement, it is because the commander of the organization arrived at the S.C.T.

"They say the city is chaos; we must be especially careful and not trust survivors." The soldier was truly determined to strictly follow orders.

"All right, soldiers, we are about to take control of a community that is key to completely taking South Carolina. We also have reports about a terrorist organization that has now made contact with our commander!"

The sergeant of this plane began to give a key speech to motivate the soldiers, but looking at those excited faces, the words were not necessary. Even he, who was a sergeant, was excited to advance in this battle against the walkers; he knew it was a matter of time and hard work to keep moving forward.

"Don't die, death is not permitted!"

"Yes, sir!"

"[Arriving at the objective, prepare to descend]"

Upon hearing the pilot's report, everyone began to stand up and grabbed the straps of their parachutes to descend when the hatch opened.

Boom!

Just then, the rear door of the plane opened and everyone could see the city from a majestic height. Everyone became excited and as soon as the order was given, they jumped from the plane.

Military paratroopers do not have control of their own parachute; normally when they jump, they wait for their parachute to open because, with the weight of their equipment, it would be impossible for them to maneuver.

But within the group of military paratroopers, there were soldiers who were not carrying such heavy military equipment and instead only carried a sword at their waist. All of this was for a single purpose: even if the safest zone for soldiers in the air to land was investigated with drones before a military base was taken in this place, there were walkers that had to be cleared so that the paratrooper could descend without any problem.

It is true that the Arm-3J combat suits are strong and impenetrable to walker bites, but if someone ends up surrounded by hundreds of infected, they would be immobilized until someone could pull them out of the horde of walkers.

But that was not the problem of any of the soldiers who were now descending into the dead city, so in a short time thousands of soldiers were falling at the same time.

"[Everyone group up in the armored vehicles and do not focus on eliminating walkers; the helicopters will take care of that!]"

…

Beavers Community.

Reginald saw the sky full of life and his body began to tremble with mixed feelings; those were, after all, planes still flying in the sky and the sound of helicopters echoing among the buildings.

Who nowadays still thinks there will be an opportunity to take back their lives before the end of the world?

After knowing that things had gone in a completely different direction, he made a signal for everyone to lower their weapons. Reginald turned his head to see the frightened expressions of everyone, the screams of the people in his community, and the corpses still lying on the ground.

That opportunity he had been searching for—rather, which side he would belong to once the moment arrived—today he made a decision almost instantly.

"The S.C.T. is invincible; they will recover the world we have lost… Listen, open the gate…" Reginald's shout pulled everyone out of their thoughts, and before long they saw the old man walk toward the gate and leave without a weapon.

"Are you going out alone, sir?"

"Yes, you all stay here…"

After saying that, Reginald walked toward the convoy parked in front of his community. But not everyone agreed with him exposing himself so much; they had enough bullets to fight until death, and the last thing they wanted to see was their leader dead.

But Reginald did not give them the opportunity to protest, and as soon as he exited the gate, he walked forward with an expression of indifference. With his back straight, steady steps, and stable breathing, he feared nothing.

Glenn, who was right in front of the convoy, looked at this old man and said, "Sergeant Reginald, we are proud that someone in South Carolina has also chosen to comply with the order of the operation. We are the S.C.T., a military organization that is currently recovering lost parts of humanity, and South Carolina is our next objective."

"Are you military?" Reginald's eyes focused on the combat suits and he said, "What are your orders?"

There was no possibility of resistance.

"We want to take your community and place it under observation; we also need an outpost to clean this city and do whatever needs to be done with the Fireflies!" Glenn extended his hand toward Reginald.

If he hesitates now or shows hostility, it is possible they will be eliminated!

"Just one thing, I hope you don't force anyone in our community to do something they don't want to do!" Reginald said with a firm gaze.

But if he accepts without opposing his authority, the other side will think it is a trap, and that would be judged against him.

"Don't worry, we will take care of everything, and when we have the city under control, all of you will be sent to our safe cities!"

After saying that, Glenn made a signal and all the vehicles began to move. The city descended into chaos; numerous tanks and helicopters moved without restraint, and while a predetermined route was being established, the helicopters would draw the walkers out of the city.
