Chapter 427 - Communication

Welles even forgot what he was going to say, and the two quickly walked outside, using the radio to communicate with the high command of the central base and the others at different bases.

"Everyone gather in the conference room in ten minutes!"

"Understood, sir!"

"Zz... Understood, sir!"

...

Merle waited in front of the radio for more than half an hour before receiving a report.

"Zz... Merle, wait there for a few days. I will personally lead a group to search for you. I can't tell you the exact time, but at most about three days. When we are close, I will contact you."

"Boss, I understand."

...

Little Hanna was sitting on the stairs of the third floor, listening to the movement in the room where Merle was. The sound from the speaker was quite loud, and with the door that had been deliberately left open, she could clearly hear the conversation.

Now she could be sure that this old man was really in a large organization, but she didn't know if this organization was as big as he had told her.

Soon the voice from the room interrupted her thoughts, and when she saw that the conversation between the two sides had ended, Hanna carefully went down the stairs to the first floor, pretending to be eating some food.

Merle came down the stairs and immediately saw Hanna pretending to waste time.

"Hey, you, come with me to move the things."

"Alright, bitter old man."

"Are you looking for a beating?"

"Hehe."

Yesterday, the two of them had not checked the place carefully. After taking all the supplies out of the car, they searched every room in the house very carefully.

After confirming that it was completely safe, Merle began the second inspection, checking every room again, which confused Hanna a lot.

"Haven't we already searched once? Why do we have to do it again?"

Merle raised his eyebrows, smiled a little arrogantly, and then mysteriously pointed at the wall of the room.

"Almost all these big houses have secret rooms. It's not that they necessarily have something to hide. The main reason is that when houses like these were built back in those years, society was somewhat chaotic. A wealthy family like this must consider security issues, but also to collect some precious items. So whether it's in a basement or a hidden room, there is probably a room like that in this house."

Hanna was surprised. It was the first time she had heard this kind of statement, and she immediately had the feeling of searching for treasure in an ancient castle. The words "secret room" and "treasure" stimulated her, making her feel as if she were on a secret mission.

"Pay attention to the spacing between the rooms. This type of room is usually very well hidden. If you find any strange place, observe it and then tell me."

After Merle finished speaking, he ignored her and walked around the house. The interior of this villa should have been renovated within no less than ten years, and the sense of age still existed. If you looked at it from the outside, it was easy to notice that this house was old.

The original owner must have loved this house very much. The design of every room was extremely exquisite, and the owner's pursuit of detail could be seen in every corner.

"A button, a button!"

The two of them only knocked on the walls and floors from room to room, like two thieves taking advantage of a rich man's absence to steal things. But as if nothing else mattered, they only focused on searching for something that would indicate the presence of a hidden door.

Merle was very relaxed now. Since leaving the Commonwealth, this was the most relaxed moment he had experienced. Whether it was the trip to Washington or being imprisoned by the bastards of the federation for more than a month, he was more or less calm now.

If it had been a week ago, he would never have imagined that he would be standing in a mansion, calmly searching the family's inventory, with a stupid little girl behind him.

Without realizing it, the two arrived at a huge double door. Merle stretched out his hand and pushed it, and the door slowly opened. What appeared before their eyes was a huge study room with an area of 150 square meters. The bookshelves were filled with books.

Merle did not rush to check anything, but lowered his head and observed around the bookshelf. He checked very carefully, but the floor was covered with dust and he could not clearly see the condition of this room.

"Get me a broom from that small room on the west side of the corridor, quickly."

The dust on the floor was swept away, revealing the dark floor beneath. Without hesitation, Merle walked around the bookshelf while sweeping, and he really found a small detail.

There was a shallow scratch on the floor on one side of the room, and the scratch was not very long. When he bent down to look closely, he discovered that there was also a scratch under the bookshelf. This one was much longer than the previous one on the floor, but because of the location, the reason it was hard to find was that you had to lie on the ground to see it.

"Hey, I got you, baby."

Hanna, who had been standing to the side, had been watching every one of Merle's movements without blinking. When she saw him bend down, she couldn't help but lean over to check as well, but she didn't expect Merle to suddenly raise his head and see her.

Bang!

"Ah!"

The back of Merle's head hit her forehead hard, but Merle, with his thick and rough skin, didn't feel much. Hanna, on the other hand, burst into tears from the pain and rubbed her forehead hard.

Even so, she still looked at the bookshelf in front of her and asked, "Is it here?"

Merle didn't answer her, and he searched around the bookshelf for a while, and soon found a wrench hidden on the side of the bookshelf.

Crack!

There was a sound of the lock being released.

Immediately afterward, he pulled the bookshelf to the side, and with a loud rumble, the entire bookshelf protruded a little and then slid sideways like the sliding door of a commercial vehicle. A small dark red door appeared in front of them.

"Wow, a secret room!"

Although Hanna tried her best to hold back, anyone with sharp eyes could tell that she was absolutely excited at this moment.

The two looked at each other, and Merle shook his head slightly, indicating that Hanna should go first. But she didn't care and put her hand on the doorknob.

Bang!

"Ah! Why did you hit me?"

"You don't have much memory, do you? Did you forget what to do before opening a door?"

"Oh, I get it..."

Hanna knocked on the door a couple of times and then pressed her ear against it. The other side was silent, there was no sound.

After waiting for a while, she looked at Merle, slightly shaking her head.

Seeing the situation, he took out a gun and loaded it, then with a flashlight in his hand he moved forward. Although it was the same method of entering through the door, this method could guarantee safety to the greatest extent.

Pushing little Hanna to the side, he stretched out his hand and gently pressed the doorknob, and then pushed hard.

At the same time the door opened, Merle had already taken the flashlight out of his mouth. With the light from the door, it was barely possible to see what was inside, but with the flashlight everything inside could be clearly seen.

Hanna curiously stuck her head out and looked inside. The first thing she saw in the light was a worn dress hanging on the wall in the middle of the room.

"Hey, it's just a piece of clothing. I thought there was something good in here."

However, Merle was not as simple as Hanna. He could easily see that this place should be a collection room, and the dress on the front wall should be a military uniform!
