Chapter 437 - Incursion

As soon as Jason finished speaking, there was no doubt on the faces of all the soldiers. They all nodded in approval, and those who were braver thought, what greater honor is there than to fight and die alongside the commander?

Everyone equipped their combat gear, and although it was completely dark outside, everyone's special helmets provided incredible night vision.

If there was anything good about all of this, it would be that there were not many walkers below, and some of those that were there had been killed with melee weapons. After everyone was ready, they got into a Humvee and a large armored vehicle to begin the mission.

The location of the point was in the north, which took them farther and farther away from Atlanta and the areas that could provide them with support, but this was not an inconvenience at all.

The duo of vehicles drove for two hours before approaching the point marked on the map. By that time, they had already entered the mountainous area, and the surroundings were covered with trees and rocks.

Driving through the valley, everyone's attention was extremely focused on any kind of ambush. They did not know if the destination of the helicopter was the same as theirs, so now everyone had turned off the lights of their vehicles. Fortunately, the moonlight tonight seemed extraordinarily bright, and everyone had night vision goggles that solved that inconvenience.

"How much distance do we have left?"

"Around half an hour. We can't drive too fast since it would be too dangerous."

"The person in the turret can provide extra visibility and better guide the vehicle in front."

"Yes, sir."

Jason was in the large armored vehicle behind the Humvee, so he had a better view of the rear. Several people began to move so that visibility would improve and the driver could have an approximate idea of the terrain ahead.

A few minutes later, everyone guided the vehicles better, and the speed increased significantly. After ten minutes, they finally reached the location point.

Looking outside under the moonlight, the place where the red point was located was in the mountains. Because the information on the map was very detailed, Jason could see that there was a small path that could lead directly into the mountain, but he was not sure whether this path was easy or not.

However, they still had some confidence in the map. Since there was a route marked on it, there should not be too many problems.

Moreover, it was too dangerous for a group of people to walk through the mountain in the middle of the night, and they also did not know what was stored at the supply point in the mountain. No matter what it was, it could not be moved down the mountain relying on these more than 30 people.

So Jason ordered them to drive directly toward the mountain path.

This path was surprisingly easy to traverse, and the vehicles they were traveling in were incredibly powerful and considered to have certain off-road capabilities, so they passed through the path without any risk.

"It should be here…"

Welles looked at the map for a long time, counted and pointed, and finally confirmed the location with certainty.

It could be said that this place was quite desolate, and more than half of the previous mountain road had disappeared, turning directly into a mountain path, so several vehicles drove here cautiously.

Jason observed the surrounding environment. Since it was night, he could only see what was visible to the naked eye and make speculations from that. There was no path ahead; what remained was blocked by a stone wall, and the rest of the place was completely desolate.

"What should we do?"

Jason frowned. He was not worried about being unable to find whatever was here. The main reason was that there was a CRM following in their footsteps. Since the other party had sent a helicopter, the rest of the CRM soldiers should arrive here tomorrow morning. But Jason did not want to alert his people.

If the other party's target was here, then he really wanted to know what was attracting them to this side of the country.

Even if his speculation was wrong, he could at least confirm what was here, right?

No one dared to turn on flashlights, for fear that the light would reveal their presence, so they simply searched around the rock wall in the darkness.

"Commander, there's an entrance here." Someone found a hole and reminded him loudly.

The crowd quickly gathered around, and Jason stood by the rock wall and examined it closely. It looked like a rock wall from the outside, but when you placed your hand on it and felt it, you could feel a cool breeze passing through your fingers, so there should be a cave behind these rocks.

Pulling hard on the upper stone, they discovered that these stones were not a single piece, but rather stacked from many small rock fragments.

"Don't worry, help open this space." Jason immediately lifted a stone and threw it aside, and the rest of the people hurried to help. Thanks to everyone's efforts, the not-too-large hole revealed its original form.

This was a hole that could accommodate two people walking side by side. Now Jason could confirm that this must be a supply point; otherwise, no one would bother to block such a hole in this wild place.

After entering the cave, everyone turned on the IR lasers of their P90s, which could only be seen through their night vision goggles, giving them a certain advantage.

After walking about 20 meters inside, a door appeared in front of them. It was a metal door, but it was clear that when this door had been installed, it must have been a long time ago due to the rust.

The entire door, including the lock, was covered with a thick layer of rust, which made Jason frown slightly upon seeing this scene.

Welles tried to open the door, but someone grabbed him, and when he looked back, it was Jason.

"What's wrong?"

"Don't you think it's strange? At first, none of the other three supply points we went to had a very sturdy door, but here there is such a simple door."

Welles scratched his head and said hesitantly, "Uh, maybe it's different?"

"I don't think so. If it's to prevent others from getting the contents, why didn't they install a thick door instead of choosing such a small broken one?"

"What do you think?"

"I'm not sure, but there's something strange about this door." After speaking, Jason carefully examined the door. At first glance, it looked like an ordinary door, but the rust was so severe that they wouldn't even need to open it. They would only need to hit it a couple of times to completely break it open.

But Jason decided to touch the door with his hand and discovered that there was a hard layer beneath the rust. He took out his dagger and scraped the door, and indeed, he made a new discovery.

Under the rust was a door panel with a metallic sheen, which should be made of anti-corrosion material. Only a thin layer around the keyhole had been scraped away to reveal the still-new lock plate underneath.

"What does this mean? Since the doors were added, why weren't they all made of anti-corrosion materials?"

Jason lightly knocked on the door with his hand and then observed the lock cylinder before saying in a low voice, "If this door is forced open, it may explode immediately…"

"What!?"

Looking at the stunned crowd, Jason simply scraped off all the rust from the door, and a metal door appeared in front of them.

"So, can you guess why they have such a strange design?"

"The most logical situation is that there are important materials hidden inside. The people who hid them did not want ordinary people to obtain these things casually, so they designed all of this. If you came here as a tourist, what would you do if you saw such a rusty door?"

"Demolish it? Open it?"

"Exactly, maybe the person who stored the supplies wanted us to do that. If it really is as Jason speculated, if it is forced open and explodes, then this place will become meaningless."

Just when everyone was at a loss, the radio on Jason's waist suddenly sounded.

First there was a crackling noise, and then the familiar female voice was heard.

"Headquarters, this is Ava. The target has been exposed and the map has been lost."
