Edmund didn't say anything the entire time he was in the room, and neither did Lazarus. Both of them remained silent because they still couldn't believe that Primrose had almost been hurt while they weren't by her side.
For Edmund, the weight in his chest only grew heavier after hearing Leofric's explanation. His gaze moved back and forth between Lazarus and the sleeping Primrose, and in his mind, he imagined their older faces from the past, as if time itself was pulling him backward.
Even now, he still couldn't imagine how painful it must have been for her to witness her father being beheaded right in front of her.
"Father," Edmund said softly as he walked over to Lazarus. Seeing his father-in-law dozing off in the chair, he gently placed a hand on his shoulder. "Why don't you rest for a while in your room? You must be exhausted after dealing with everything in Veloria County."
