Evelyn woke with a smile, eyes catching the first glow of dawn filtering through the curtains. She turned to face Lucifer, who lay on the other side of the bed, chest rising slowly. She scooted close, wrapping her arms around him from behind.
"I don't ever want to lose you," she whispered, her voice soft against his back.
Lucifer stirred, eyes opening. He reached for her, pulling her in tighter, his lips brushing her forehead.
"Mm. Me too." He smiled, and she looked down, cheeks warming.
"Does that mean my Lord loves me?" Her voice was teasing but hopeful.
He stared at her for a moment. "I don't know… I guess so… You're mine, after all."
"Oh…" she whispered again, standing from the bed. He followed.
"I'm going to freshen up—"
Before she could finish, Lucifer lifted his hand slightly. The air shimmered. She gasped, feet leaving the ground as invisible magic wrapped around her. She floated gently toward the bathroom, laughing.
"Lucifer!" she giggled. "What are you doing?"
