Chapter 155 - Chapter 155: Clash at Sea – Marine Interception

The crew jolted into motion as the shadow of the Marine ship grew larger on the horizon. The crack of cannon hatches echoed again across the frigid sea, snapping the Straw Hats into alertness. The once-calm waters churned with tension as the threat bore down on them.

"Everyone to positions!" Nami commanded, her voice sharp and clear despite the cold wind whipping through the rigging. She quickly tied down the maps at the helm, her hands moving with precision honed by countless storms.

Luffy, grinning with anticipation, jumped up onto the bow and crouched like a predator ready to leap. "Let's show them what we've got!" he shouted, eyes sparkling with excitement and fire.

Zoro rested his hand calmly on his sword's hilt, eyes narrowing beneath his bandana. "If they're looking for a fight, they've found one," he muttered, his fingers tightening around the hilt of Wado Ichimonji.

Sanji lit a cigarette with a flick of his thumb, the flame flickering against the sea breeze. He exhaled a thin stream of smoke and cracked his neck. "Bring it," he said with a confident smirk, loosening his tie slightly.

Usopp scrambled across the deck, tripping over a coil of rope as he rushed to prepare the Going Merry's tiny cannon. "Why is it always us?! I just finished cleaning this thing!" he wailed, fumbling for cannonballs as sweat rolled down his face.

Chopper froze momentarily, overwhelmed by the sudden burst of chaos. But then he clenched his jaw, shook his head, and dashed to the supply crates. "I-I'll help where I can!" he declared, ears twitching as he grabbed a toolbox.

Robin observed the enemy calmly from beside the mast, her arms folded, hair fluttering in the breeze. "We'll need to act quickly. They're preparing a full barrage," she said, already analyzing the distance and trajectory with a calculating gaze.

A deafening boom roared from the Marine vessel. Cannonballs ripped through the sky, their black forms cutting across the moonlight, trailing smoke as they arced toward the ship.

"Brace!" Nami shouted, gripping the wheel tightly.

Zoro stepped forward and, in one swift motion, drew his blade and slashed through an incoming cannonball, splitting it clean in half. Beside him, Sanji launched a splintered chunk of wood at another incoming ball, deflecting it with a sharp clang. The deck shook under the recoil of Usopp's shot as it blasted through the enemy's mast.

Usopp aimed and fired their cannon. The shot arced through the air and struck the Marine ship's side, blasting apart part of a smaller mast. "Bullseye!" he cried, pumping his fist in triumph, only for the recoil to jolt him back.

A loud clatter followed—Usopp yelped as the cannon's recoil slammed into his shoulder. Chopper rushed over, catching him before he hit the deck.

"Are you okay?! Hold still—I'll wrap it up!" Chopper said, digging into his satchel with trembling hooves, already pulling out bandages and ointment.

"Just a bruise," Usopp grumbled. "But thanks, Doc."

Meanwhile, Robin raised a hand calmly. A cluster of enemy soldiers stumbled and yelled in confusion as disembodied arms sprouted along their railing, yanking them down and away from their cannons. Their sudden disappearance bought the crew precious seconds.

"Fewer hands on deck," she muttered, composed as always.

Nami spun the wheel, her eyes locked on the approaching ice ridge. "If we angle just right, we can swing behind it and buy some time!"

"Do it!" Luffy shouted. "Let's slip through!"

The crew adjusted the sails, catching a powerful gust of wind. The Going Merry surged forward, cutting through the waves and narrowly dodging another volley of cannonballs.

Chopper and Usopp worked together at the stern, trying to secure a loose rudder rope. "This one's damaged," Usopp muttered. "We need to brace it or we'll lose steering!"

"I've got it!" Chopper replied, shifting to Heavy Point and holding the rope steady with powerful limbs while Usopp tied it off, his fingers moving quickly.

The ice ridge loomed ahead—tall, jagged, and glittering like glass under the pale moonlight. As they passed into its shadow, the sounds of cannon fire faded into a distant echo. The ship creaked as it slipped between the glacial towers.

Just as Nami exhaled in relief, the Going Merry cut around the ridge's far edge—and found only open ocean and moonlight beyond.

No second ship. No trap.

Robin blinked and lowered her hand, her eyes scanning the horizon once more before she gave a calm nod. "False alarm," she said, her tone lighter now.

The crew relaxed, breath misting the air as the tension slowly melted away. Robin dusted off her skirt, Sanji re-lit his cigarette with a flick, and Chopper offered a canteen to a dazed Usopp. The Going Merry creaked forward in the stillness, sails fluttering in the returning breeze. "Let's keep moving," Luffy said with a determined smile. "To the next adventure."

Days Later – Calm Waters, Clear Skies

The Going Merry sailed peacefully through the Grand Line. The battle with the Marines felt like a distant memory now, and the crew enjoyed a rare moment of calm. The sea sparkled beneath the clear sky, and a gentle wind carried the scent of salt and sun.

Chopper leaned over the rail, ears twitching at the sound of distant gulls. "It's so quiet…" he said, marveling at the calmness after the storm.

Nami sat cross-legged at the navigation table, studying her maps while Robin looked on thoughtfully. "The log pose is pointing toward the next island," Nami noted. "We'll need to follow it precisely, or we'll be thrown off course."

Luffy lounged on the figurehead, arms behind his head, his straw hat tipped over his eyes. "I hope it's something fun."

Sanji appeared from below deck carrying a tray of warm food. "Fun or not, you're eating first," he said, placing a plate beside Luffy. "You'll need strength for whatever's coming."

As they shared the meal, Usopp suddenly pointed toward the sky. "Hey! What's that?" Usopp said, his voice tinged with awe. A faint hum filled the air, and the wind began to shift oddly, carrying a strange static charge. He shaded his eyes to get a better look.

The crew looked up. A massive swirl of clouds loomed in the distance—far larger than anything they'd encountered. It spun slowly like a vortex, rising impossibly high into the sky.

Nami stood slowly, her face tense. "That… that can't be right. It's not on any of the weather charts I've studied."

Robin narrowed her eyes. "It may be our next destination. Something unnatural is influencing the climate."

Zoro stood, squinting into the distance. "Whatever it is, it doesn't look friendly."

Sanji flicked the ash from his cigarette. "Doesn't matter. We're going there anyway, right?"

Luffy sat up straight, grinning with anticipation. "Let's go find out!"

Above them, the clouds churned like a living sea as the Going Merry sailed onward—its sails full, its deck alive with new energy—toward the swirling storm, toward a mystery island rumored only in whispers.
