Chapter 2 - New Start (1)

Feeling my heavy backpack, I looked through my cracked phone screen while waiting for the bus.

After everyone woke up, I and some others were told to pack our things and be out by noon. Once I got everything packed, I was given 50 bucks along with a bus pass.

'Just like the last time…'

My stop was the university dorm I was going to stay in. However, while I was waiting for my bus, I decided to invest in a few companies I knew were going to explode. Thanks to the rise in technology, investing isn't as complicated as it used to be.

With a few taps on my phone, I could invest with ease.

'That should do'

I made sure to leave a little bit for food so I wouldn't starve as I had already ordered the VR helmet, which was expected to arrive in 2 days.

'Shame I couldn't afford the pods."

The VR pods were way more expensive, unlike the helmet. The benefit of the VR pod was that you could move more freely, and there wouldn't be any aftereffects, unlike the helmet.

But I had to bear with it, for now at least.

Hearing the bus come to a halt, I got up and entered the bus while scanning my pass. Finding a seat, I looked at the city, which didn't look any different in the future. As I was on the bus, I made a few plans.

[Pandora] was set to release in 2 days, meaning I had a lot of time to rework my plan.

My current plan was simple, and that was to get a unique class.

In the previous timeline, a few months after Pandora's launch, a player discovered a class that shifted the balance of the game.

[Shadow Mage]

It was a class that made that player reach unimaginable heights due to the skills it was giving. The class, however, had its drawbacks.

Despite giving skills that could change the battlefield, there were some debuffs they were given. 1 was that they were 4 times weaker to holy magic, and another made their relationship with certain NPCs plumate, among other things.

However, a few other players and I discovered something that was soon discovered by everyone else. It was a way to upgrade your class.

Now, there were many variables to it, but evolving a class was something that could give you an edge.

Coincidentally, the player that obtained the [Shadow Mage] class also had been able to combine their class with another.

That class was [Necromancer].

However, the way I saw it, there were many other ways for the [Shadow Mage] class to be used.

However, I needed to be level 50, which I could do after 3 hidden quests. However, one of them is a pretty annoying chain quest, which I can't really refuse.

'Ah, whatever'

As I was thinking, I found out that I had arrived at my destination. Getting up after the bus stopped, I exited and started to walk.

However, as I was walking I couldn't help but click my tongue.

'I seriously need to improve my body.'

The pods and headgear worked better if you were in good shape, basically having a good body. Before [Pandora], I focused on my studies, trying to make a life for myself. This meant I didn't really work out or eat a lot, causing me to be a bag of bones.

Arriving at the dormitory, I entered the building and entered the lobby. Approaching the receptionist, I greeted her and handed her my ID.

"Hello, my name is Blake Griffin," I said, giving her my ID and showing her the necessary emails. I was given my key and told my room number. Heading toward the elevator, I pressed the button, and it opened. Entering it, I glanced at the mostly empty lobby, which was to be expected.

It was pretty early, meaning most people hadn't arrived yet, but it probably would change in a few hours as parents would drop off their children.

I remembered my dormmates from the previous timeline and clenched my fists.

'I'll make sure that you assholes pay for what you did!'

However, just as the door was closing, I heard someone shout as they were running toward me. Quickly stretching my hand, I blocked the door, causing it to open back up. Entering the elevator out of breath, were 2 guys and 2 girls.

"Phew, thanks, man," one of the guys said

"Uh, sure,"

'Did this happen in the past timeline?'

I couldn't help but be shocked.

Very shocked.

You see, the guy standing next to me was one of the greatest players of [Pandora], one of the top 10, Elijah Blackwood. He and his guild, the [Guardian Angels], were one of the richest guilds and had many successful businesses under their belts.

'I didn't know he went to this university, though'

That was pretty interesting; however, if I played my cards right, I could probably make a great ally in the future.

Pressing the button for my floor, I waited as the rest pressed their buttons for their floors. Going on my phone, I decided to look at the news to [Pandora]; however, I started to hear the group start to chatter.

I looked at Elijah and his group.

It would be safe to say Elijah was handsome, however, not supermodel level. With his black hair and golden eyes, he seemed to be an unassuming young adult.

I then turned to the boy next to him. He was tall with long brown hair tied into a ponytail. If I was right, then his name would be Logan Wright. In the future, he was the vice guildmaster of [Guardian Angels].

I glanced at the girl with short red hair. She was pretty cute; however, knowing her future self, it was safe to say she is a crazy bitch. Her name was Charlotte Whitaker, and in the future, she was going to be known as the Mad Witch. Apparently it was an "act," but I had my doubts about that.

'She probably wasn't all that bad though if Logan married her'

I then glanced at the last individual. She had bright blonde hair that was tied in a ponytail and crystal blue eyes. Her name was Ava Kensington, and she was the world's greatest healer in the game. I had also heard rumors she had a unique class relating to holy power, although she didn't confirm any of it.

'Wasn't there supposed to be one more?'

But the next second, the door opened, causing me to be pulled out of my thoughts and exit the elevator.

'Guess I have to get everything ready'
