Chapter 10 - Promise

After everything calmed down, Rebecca and Farrel returned to their inn. They sat at a table by the window.

"You're definitely a high noble's maid here, Rebecca. Sorry for being disrespectful to you before."

Farrel lowered his head.

Rebecca lifted Farrel's chin with her hand, and they gazed into each other's eyes.

"It's okay, Master. People tend to forget all the good we've done because of one mistake. I'm happy being with you."

She gave him a sweet smile, making Farrel blush. He tried to turn his face toward the window.

"You're kind of sweet, Rebecca. I appreciate your compliments, but if you ever change your mind, just go. Don't feel guilty because of me."

And now, it was Farrel who gave a sweet smile. Rebecca lowered her gaze, not wanting her master to see her blushing.

Farrel felt like he wanted to hold her close, but...

"What I can do is encourage her. She will forget everything . If her memories are only filled with me, then she won't have any memories left for this year because, someday, I will surely disappear."

Knock!! Knock!!

Someone knocked on the door. Rebecca quickly opened it, and suddenly, a man in armor with a shiny sword stood at the entrance.

"Rebecca!!"

The man hugged her tightly. Rebecca pushed him away forcefully.

"I'm sorry, Sam. Right now, I'm on duty, taking care of my master."

Sam glanced at Farrel, who was sitting by the window. He walked over confidently.

"Please release her right now. I'll pay any amount you want."

Without hesitation, Farrel said, "1 billion gold, right now."

Sam was stunned by the absurd amount Farrel demanded. It didn't make any sense.

"Are you joking with that amount? Who could possibly pay such a sum? Don't be stupid, boy."

Farrel, hearing this, summoned his shadow and revealed a mountain of gold within the shadow's void.

"Maybe it's me?"

Rebecca, standing behind, chuckled slightly. Sam, realizing he was being mocked, challenged Farrel to a duel. He threw a handkerchief toward Farrel.

"Accept my duel. Whoever wins will take Rebecca."

Farrel picked up the handkerchief.

"Hmm, someone who couldn't even help her before and let her be sold to a stupid noble. Never mind, I accept."

Sam felt stung by Farrel's words.

"We'll meet tomorrow at the Qerd arena. 10 a.m. Don't be late."

Sam then left, glancing at Rebecca one last time.

"I will take you back. Sorry for letting you go before."

He left the room.

Rebecca bowed to Farrel, feeling sorry for Sam's behavior. Farrel, however, didn't seem to care.

"Nah, never mind. I just hate guys who pretend to be all goody-goody. Was he your ex?"

"Yes, he was my ex-boyfriend. We worked in the same place and met at the castle, but when I got kicked out, he prioritized his career and never helped me," she explained.

Farrel listened while munching on a snack.

"Ohhh, what a bittersweet story you have here. Nah, I'll win. I also hate someone who doesn't do anything for the person they love."

She handed him a towel and prepared clothes for Farrel, urging him to take a bath.

"Go take a bath, Master. It's been almost a week since we last bathed."

Farrel suddenly got excited, curious about the bathroom in the room. He grabbed the towel from Rebecca's hand and hurried to the bathroom.

He entered the bathroom, took off all his clothes, and jumped into the tub, soaking himself.

"Ahhh, it feels good. It's been a long time since I last bathed."

Unintentionally, he fell asleep.

Not long after, Rebecca woke Farrel up from his nap, but she was also taking a bath.

Farrel woke up and saw Rebecca completely naked. He tried to hide his arousal.

"Errrrr, sorry. I didn't mean to fall asleep in the bath. I'll get out of here in a second."

Farrel stood up and tried to jump out of the tub, but she held his hand.

"Please stay awhile, Master. Keep me company for a bit."

Farrel, suddenly puzzled by Rebecca's sudden sadness, couldn't bring himself to leave her.

He sat back down in the water, crossing his arms behind his head, and continued bathing. The warm steam from the hot water filled the bathroom, obscuring the view.

She slowly moved closer to Farrel, resting her head on his chest.

Farrel, seeing this, couldn't bring himself to push her away.

"Master, will you also leave me?"

Farrel remained silent.

Rebecca then slowly raised herself above Farrel, her breasts pressing against his chest. She brought her face close to his.

"Master, if I sold my body to you and you could do anything to it, would you still leave me?"

She was a bit sad, trying to persuade him with all her heart.

Farrel, looking at her, couldn't bear to see Rebecca, who was always so lively, suddenly so sad.

"I can't promise you that. Eventually, I will leave you if I die. Who wouldn't leave the person they love, right? isn't the promise we made will just being meaningless?"

Farrel was thinking that was a good answer. He rubbed his nose, feeling proud of himself.

"So if you die, I will also die. It's that simple. So we'll leave together. For now, you'll never leave me, right?"

Farrel was shocked by her response and ultimately had to give in.

"Yes, I will never leave you."

Hearing this, Rebecca began to wiggle her head and body in excitement.

Farrel started thinking about Rebecca's sudden animal-like behavior.

"Did I adopt a pet or something?"

After the bath, Rebecca helped Farrel get dressed and prepared the bed, tidying up a bit for comfort.

"Here, Master. Now you can lie down and sleep peacefully."

Farrel relaxed his body and lay down on the bed.

"Today was the best day, but tomorrow will be a tough one."

Rebecca sat beside her master, lifting his head and placing it on her lap.

"Sleep well, Master. Sorry for troubling you."

Farrel could see Rebecca's face from below. He nodded and soon fell asleep.
