Chapter 229 - Chapter 229: The Beginning

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The air was still shimmering with fading light when the sharp sound of something slicing through the sky echoed out.

The pirates, who hadn't even managed to scramble out of the crater yet, were blasted away one after another.

"It's a bombardment!!"

...

Before the man arrived, his attack had already landed.

The Navy's ship cannons couldn't reach as far as Jainan Island from here.

But standing tall at the prow of the Dog-Head warship was none other than Garp.

He wasn't using the ship's cannons—he was hurling cannonballs with sheer physical strength.

And not just with unbelievable speed.

Every shot, backed by Haki, carried a force far beyond any ordinary artillery.

But the most terrifying part? The range.

Out here at sea, range was everything. Range was truth.

But could Charlotte Linlin just stand by and let Garp treat her like she didn't even matter?

No.

With a darkened expression, Linlin grabbed her cartoonish sun and flung it forward, roaring:

"Ma ma ma ma! Prometheus!!"

"I'm here, Mama!"

Prometheus cackled wildly as it instantly ignited, transforming into a blazing fireball that shot toward the incoming cannonballs.

It had no fear of fire!

At the same time, the sword atop Charlotte Linlin's head—Napoleon—shifted into a massive blade that she gripped tightly in her hands.

Under her feet, Zeus began accelerating, lifting her into the sky.

"Mama Raid!!!"

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

The explosions triggered by Prometheus sounded like war drums, pounding out a rhythm for Charlotte Linlin's charge.

Clang!

Napoleon's blade smashed against Garp's iron fist.

The impact let out a piercing shriek that made nearby enlisted men clutch their heads in pain, blood trickling from their ears.

The ship's officers immediately ordered the warship to back away from the clash between these two monsters.

Under Garp's feet, the Dog-Head warship groaned under the pressure, its stern tipping high into the air like a seesaw.

But Garp himself?

He stood firm, unaffected—and even smiled.

"Puhahaha! The little girl from back then… you've gotten real strong, huh?"

The more relaxed and casual Garp sounded, the more Charlotte Linlin's fury flared. That damned smile—it was the same hateful grin Roger had when he stole the Poneglyph right out from under her nose!

"Prometheus!!!"

Above, the flaming Prometheus, still clashing with the residual force of their blows, suddenly plummeted down.

Nearby soldiers opened fire in a panic, but the bullets never even reached its body—they melted midair into puddles of slag.

Boom!

Prometheus merged with Napoleon, the two becoming one.

A blazing sword was born, the heat so intense that the air around it warped and shimmered.

This wasn't just a simple sum of their powers—it was something greater.

Charlotte Linlin's already monstrous strength surged even higher as she cackled with a cruel grin, bringing her sword down with force.

"Ma ma ma ma ma! You're just as disgusting as Roger, you old fossil! Now die!!!"

Thud!

Garp, grinning ear to ear, caught Linlin's colossal strike with his left hand—her raw power eclipsing even that of giants.

"I'm an old man, but I've still got grandkids to raise!"

With his right hand, he clenched his fist and drove it hard into Linlin's massive stomach.

Charlotte Linlin was sent flying backward.

Luckily, Zeus, her loyal flying steed, swooped in and steadied her in midair.

Thanks to her innate body, Linlin wasn't hurt at all—her body shrugged off the attack like nothing.

Gripping Napoleon once more, black and red arcs of Conqueror's Haki crackled along the blade.

And she charged in again.

"What terrifying defense!" Garp muttered.

With a step, he launched into the air using Geppo, leaving his warship behind.

If they kept fighting on the ship, their clash alone would destroy everything and everyone nearby—the Navy wouldn't survive the shockwaves.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

On the far side of Jainan Island, another barrage erupted in perfect sync.

But this wasn't the Navy's doing.

It came from the kilometer-long warship, the Queen Mama Chanter—its automated guns roaring to life.

A curtain of pitch-black cannon fire rained down over the Navy fleet preparing to land.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Four sharp slashes tore out from within the Navy ranks.

Boom!

A voice called out, resolute.

"Leave the island landing to us—the Charlotte Family will hold the line here!"
