Chapter 12 - First mission

For a few minutes, the conversation between the members continued.

Well, to be honest, it was mostly Serafall doing all the talking after she got comfortable with the chat group—and thanks to that, I gathered a lot of information from her.

For starters, like almost every DxD fanfiction, this world wasn't limited to just DxD.

It had characters from the Fate/Grand Order world, from Naruto, and a mixture of other anime too.

While Serafall was excitedly talking about a young devil—around 16 years old, someone who did not fit the plot of DxD—I immediately grew suspicious.

From her description, I was almost certain... he had to be a transmigrator.

And right at that moment, Velgrynd's voice echoed in my mind through thought communication.

{Nova, why are you still inside your house? Come to the military base right now.}

Without thinking, I answered subconsciously, {Yes, Master.}

I stood up. "Looks like I need to head out and see what's going on in the Jura Forest."

Just then, the system dinged in my mind:

> [System Mission:

World: Naruto

Difficulty: None

Task: Save one of the side characters whose eyes will be taken by an Outsider.

Reward: 100 SP (Reward will be divided among members who join.)

Hidden: For Host, reward will be ten times.]

[Itachi]: "Could it be... him?"

Itachi thought deeply, his heart beginning to race.

[Artoria is ready to join.]

[Serafall is ready to join.]

[Host, please approve their requests to join.]

"Why so fast?" I grumbled internally.

"I haven't even created an ultimate skill yet, and now I have to jump into another world?"

> [Difficulty is none. You can one-shot Naruto's world right now.

Not to mention, killing the Outsider will grant you his Origin Value.]

"You make it sound so easy..." I muttered.

"Look at the competition! If three of us go, the reward will be split, and my share will be tiny even with ten times the reward.

I need the SP way more than they do! I'm way too weak compared to those two women..."

I clenched my fists.

The difference in Origin Value was no joke.

> [Host can convince them not to join.]

"Easier said than done..." I muttered under my breath.

[Artoria]: "Nova, can you approve my request quickly?"

[Serafall]: "Mine too! Mine too! Do it fast!"

Serafall, who was now ready to go to new world was standing in front of a mirror looking at her dress.

She had chosen which outfit to wear for showcasing the might of a magical girl.

That's why she couldn't wait for anymore.

[Nova]: "Just a moment," I replied and hovered my finger over the 'Approve' button... but stopped.

An idea popped into my mind.

"I have to lead the army to attack the Western Nations anyway.

Why not use these two ridiculously powerful women for that instead?"

"Even if one of them come it will still be a great help"

I quickly asked the System, "System, can I issue tasks?"

> [No. Host cannot issue official system tasks.]

"Why not?" I asked, annoyed.

> [Because Host is the group admin. It would be too embarrassing if the Admin starts asking others for help.]

I almost punched the System window... but managed to control myself.

"Then, can I invite people into my world?"

> [Yes, but only for 1 hour.]

A grin spread across my face.

[Artoria]: "Admin Nova?"

[Nova]: "Ah, sorry! I zoned out for a second.

But actually, I was thinking—maybe it's too much trouble for you two to come and solve another world's problem with so little SP."

[Artoria]: "I need SP."

[Nova]: "Well, you'll only get 50 SP from this mission."

[Nova]: "But... I can offer you ten times that amount."

She asked, a little confused but definitely interested.

[Nova]: "You see, I'm currently a Marshal of the Empire where I live.

And I've been tasked with leading the army to conquer the Western Nations."

I paused.

"But I don't like it.

Sure, I could easily win... but it would create too much bloodshed, and I really don't want that."

Artoria, who was initially frowning at the mention of war, softened a little when she heard my next words.

Hearing that I hated unnecessary bloodshed made her see me differently—like maybe, that's why I was worthy of being the Admin of this group.

[Nova]: "So I want you to replace me.

I'm sure that if you lead the army, you'll find a way to resolve things peacefully... maybe even without a single unnecessary death."

[Artoria]: "Wait. If you don't like bloodshed, then why attack them at all?"

[Nova]: "It's not that simple," I replied with a sigh.

"I'm not good with words and I can't disobey the emperor's orders because he is like family to me.

If I go there myself and try to negotiate, chances are they'll refuse.

And if they attack first... I'll be forced to retaliate.

Given my power, even a tiny bit of force from me would be disastrous for them."

I lied through my teeth without even blinking.

I feel like even the System was stunned silent for a moment.
