"You are an idiot," she said, her tone soft now, the anger melting from her face. Before I could reply, she moved forward and settled herself on my lap.
For a moment, I froze, unsure if this was part of some new trap but then her arms wrapped around my neck, and all thoughts of escape vanished. I let out a quiet breath and pulled her closer, feeling the warmth of her body against mine.
"I missed you," I whispered near her ear.
She didn't answer right away. Her breath brushed against my neck, slow and steady. Then she whispered back, "I missed you too."
Her head rested on my shoulder, and for a while, we just sat there, listening to the faint hum of the wind outside the hut. My hand moved gently up her back, feeling the tension fade away beneath my fingers. She leaned back slightly, her eyes locking onto mine.
Then she leaned forward, closing the distance between us. Our lips met.
