(Nezu POV – U.A. Conference Room)
It was early morning, and I sat at the head of the U.A. conference room table as the teachers filtered in one by one. Aizawa was among the first, slumping into his seat with the kind of weariness I'd come to expect from him—though today, it seemed much heavier. Present Mic was unusually subdued, nodding to his friend but saying little. Midnight, Cementoss, Ectoplasm, Snipe, and the others soon followed, all looking less like seasoned heroes and more like soldiers returning from a war they hadn't realized they were fighting.
Once the last teacher arrived, I offered them a cheerful smile, though it felt like I did it more out of habit than a genuine gesture.
"I had hoped to start this meeting with a pleasant 'Good morning,'" I began lightly, my paws folded atop the table, "but as I'm sure you're all aware... it's anything but."
A chorus of tired nods and quiet grunts passed through the room, echoing a shared burden.
I decided not to dance around the issue. "We're here regarding yesterday's incident in Hosu. Four of our students were involved. Thankfully, all are physically safe. But not everyone sees that as a good thing."
Cementoss leaned forward, his brow furrowed. "You're talking about the headlines, right?"
I nodded once.
Snipe slammed his fist onto the table. "Damn it! They're actin' like we tossed the kids into the middle of a war zone ourselves! How are we supposed to predict and stop a damn Nomu attack?"
'It's not normal,' I thought, tail swishing thoughtfully behind me. 'This isn't just public outrage... it's a carefully crafted narrative guiding public perception.'
What should've been widespread praise for Kata Okada's decisive actions was swiftly buried under a tidal wave of fearmongering and speculation. Questions about safety, appropriate use of power and about U.A. approach to nurturing future heroes.
Present Mic crossed his arms. "It's not fair. No one could've predicted a villain attack like that—especially not during internships. Isn't that the point? They're supposed to learn under pros. Isn't that safer than tossing them in blind later on?"
"And yet..." I said softly, "The public has latched onto the idea that these internships, especially for first-years, put everyone at risk. Both the students, as well as any civilians they interact with."
"But that's never been a problem before," Present Mic protested, his voice rising. "A few hero schools in Japan do this! Every year, for many years now!"
Ectoplasm's calm tone cut through Present Mic's rising frustration. "Yet the criticism is focused squarely on U.A. and more specifically... on Kata Okada."
The room fell silent.
'A deliberate focus. Manufactured to ignore the numerous people he saved, and draw attention to how dangerous he could be... as a villain no less.'
The articles highlighted Kata's power with clinical coldness—citing his ability to eliminate hundreds of Nomu, and how catastrophic it could've been if he'd lost control. How even pro-heroes might fail to stop him if ever he became a villain. The implication was clear: it wasn't just dangerous to trust students—it was irresponsible.
I sigh internally. 'Humans tend to fear what they don't understand or cannot control, and this fear can sometimes lead to actions that worsen the situation.'
I wonder if they genuinely fail to realise that treating him like a potential villain, might turn him into one?
'And given what I know of him, it's very well might happen.' I almost shiver at the thought.
"And the power he displayed..." I said aloud, glancing around, "While extraordinary, is also what lends weight to their concerns. It's difficult to argue that his strength isn't dangerous, when it clearly is. All strength is, when wielded without public trust."
No one disagreed, but none are pleased about it either.
Midnight tapped her finger against the table. "So what's our next move? Do we deal with public sentiment, or try to manage the media?"
I shook my head. "That's part of it. But first and foremost, our responsibility is to the students. We must do our utmost to ensure their safety, well-being, and their futures."
"And that includes more than just Kata," I added pointedly. "Tenya Ida, Shoto Todoroki, and Izuku Midoriya were also all intricately involved."
Several heads turned immediately to Aizawa, who had remained silent, arms crossed, and face unreadable, as the remaining 3 students are revealed.
"I didn't realize there were more students involved. I thought they just also happened to be in Hosu." Midnight said, frowning.
"Neither did I," Cementoss echoed.
"Same," Ectoplasm added as more echoes of concern passed through the room.
I nodded calmly. "It was kept confidential. The police believed it was best to protect the students' identities, and the heroes at the scene agreed. Hence the media's silence."
Midnight stood suddenly, her chair screeching as it skidded back. "Wait! Don't tell me this is what I think it is."
I offered her a solemn look. "I'm afraid so. From what we've learned, Tenya Ida sought out the Hero Killer, Stain, on his own, intending to avenge his brother. His intentions were... quite concerning. And Midoriya and Todoroki intervened to save him."
Another long silence followed, heavier than before.
'I'm certain they've likely guessed what Ida's intentions were.'
I let the atmosphere settle before continuing. "Which brings us to another issue... disciplinary action. Regardless of their intentions, the students acted without authorization. Vigilantism is illegal for a reason."
A few teachers exchanged glances. Some uncomfortable. Some angry. Some just... disappointed.
"Midoriya disobeyed his supervisor's instructions, rushed off alone and placed himself in harm's way. While his actions were well intentioned, he endangered himself and others and must be held accountable."
I notice All Might looking more nervous at the mention of his successor facing punishment, but even he must face the consequences of his actions.
I paused for a moment. "Todoroki's actions were more measured. He received approval from Endeavour , his supervisor, requested backup while provided his location, and didn't engage Stain, instead prioritized first aid so that Ida's life could be saved. Although still reckless, his actions were justified and logical."
Snipe squinted. "First Aid? Wait—how badly was Ida hurt? Was he—?"
"Thankfully, he is uninjured," I say, watching the tension in the room release as many breathe sighs of relief. I let the moment of relief linger briefly.
"But only due to Kata Okada's timely arrival," I continue. "According to Midoriya and Todoroki, he suffered massive blood loss and went into cardiac arrest. His arms were pierced repeatedly... and both of his legs were severed at the thigh."
A grim silence takes hold.
Even in a school that prepares students for danger, the weight of those words is not easily ignored. Several teachers go pale. Others exchange uncertain, skeptical glances.
"You just said he was fine," Snipe says bluntly, leaning forward. "With that level of damage—he should be dead."
'A fair point.'
I nod while sighing. "That would have been the case... had Kata not arrived and used his quirk to reverse the damage."
The silence deepens. It isn't passive... but brims with the tension exchanged in every wary glance across the room. I note this with a practiced smile.
"His quirk has demonstrated a wide range of capabilities," I say calmly. "It's possible that regenerative healing is simply another application. However..." My eyes sweep the table. "I understand your concern. It is not outlandish to wonder if he possesses multiple quirks—similar to the Nomu—or has some link to their creator."
The room stiffens.
No one wants to say it aloud, but several are clearly thinking it.
'I'd hate to accuse my own student of colluding with villains,' their expressions seem to say, 'but the possibility is real.'
'It may also explain his deep knowledge of All For One and his battle with All Might,' I think.
I continue before they become restless. "This is something I intend to investigate personally, before any conclusions are drawn," I say, my tone cool and composed.
'It's unlikely, considering how much he's already revealed about All For One... but suspicion grants access. And that access will grant me more information he might still possess.'
"Now then," I say, clapping my claws together, returning to the meeting's purpose. "We must address disciplinary actions. Let's begin with Midoriya and Todoroki."
"What about Ida and Kata Okada?" Vlad King cuts in, arms crossed. "Ida started this whole mess, and Kata definitely fought in it too."
I nod at the interjection.
"Kata Okada will not be facing disciplinary action," I say, scanning the room as several teachers narrow their eyes. "His actions were conducted under the supervision of his assigned pro hero, Mirko. According to reports—and video surveillance—he remained with her the entire time. He defeated numerous Nomu, protected his classmates, and minimized collateral damage. He fulfilled his duties as an intern... and did so admirably."
'Almost too admirably,' I think.
'Not a single misstep. Not a trace of wrongdoing. It's almost too perfect. Mirko, doesn't have a fixed agency, making it plausible for her to patrol in Hosu. But even then, I can't understand why he waited so long to act. Was it for fame? Or was there another purpose?'
But that, I'll pursue in time.
"As for Tenya Iida," I continue, my tone turning solemn. "By U.A. standards, his actions would warrant immediate expulsion."
Unease ripples through the room. A student expulsion from U.A.—outside of Aizawa's temporary measures—has never happened.
"I won't deny my own fault in this," Aizawa speaks up his voice low. "I allowed him to intern in Hosu, knowing what happened to his brother. I didn't intervene. That's on me."
His gaze is steady, if weary. A silent admission of guilt.
"I appreciate your honesty, Mr. Aizawa," I reply gently, then raise my voice. "And I agree. While Ida must take responsibility, this incident also reflects a failure on our part—as educators—to recognize our students' emotional turmoil. That will be corrected."
I pause to ensure everyone is listening.
"That said, punishment must still follow. Ida will be suspended from U.A. until further notice. During that time, he'll undergo regular psychological evaluations with Hound Dog. Only when deemed mentally stable and no longer at risk of impulsive action will he be allowed to return. If he fails to do so, we will have no choice but to expel him."
Several teachers nod, grimly but approvingly.
"This incident will be noted in his permanent record," I continue. "He will be barred from all internships for the remainder of the year—possibly longer, depending on his future conduct."
"I agree with those terms," Aizawa says, backing the decision. "He has potential. But he needs to earn the right to wear his hero costume again."
"The Hero Public Safety Commission and police are conducting their own investigation," I remind them. "Whether Ida faces criminal charges or is disqualified from becoming a hero entirely is up to them."
"Any objections to this arrangement?"
No hands are raised and the decision is sealed.
"Very well," I say with a nod. "Now… onto Midoriya and Todoroki."
What follows is a calm, measured debate among the faculty. Some argue for leniency; others stress the importance of setting precedent. But after several minutes, consensus is reached.
"Todoroki will receive an official warning for going off on his own without supervision," I summarize.
"Midoriya, too," Aizawa adds. "Along with mandatory counseling sessions with Hound Dog to address his reckless tendencies and struggle with authority."
Both penalties are fair—and symbolic. Enough to correct behavior, without punishing their drive to save others.
With that business handled, I smile faintly.
"There's one last measure I'd like to implement," I say with a more cheerful tone. "This incident has undoubtedly inflicted psychological trauma and stress. I propose we assign trusted faculty members to monitor the mental well-being of the involved students."
"Sounds reasonable," Snipe says with a nod.
"But who should be assigned?" Ectoplasm asks, fingers tapping the table.
"I believe they'll benefit most from teachers they're already close to," I say with a knowing grin. "Todoroki seems to trust Mr. Aizawa. Midoriya, of course, is… rather fond of All Might. Are either of you against this arrangement?"
"Eh? Not at all!" All Might beams, practically glowing.
"It's fine," Aizawa grumbles, already regretting the added responsibility but not arguing.
"Ida will remain with Hound Dog during his evaluation," I continue, gesturing toward the stoic canine, who grunts in agreement.
"And as for Kata Okada…" I let my gaze fall on a very specific teacher.
"I think Midnight would be ideal."
"Me?" she blinks, momentarily caught off-guard. Her eyes widen slightly.
"You and Lady Nagant are the two he seems most comfortable with," I say, my tone playful. "Nagant... Doesn't seem like she'd handle this well, so that leaves you."
Midnight's lips curl into a sly smile. "I'd be more than happy to look after him," she says sweetly, a flicker of genuine interest and curiosity in her tone. "I've been wanting to get to know him better anyway."
"Excellent," I say, as I rise from my seat. "With that, this meeting is adjourned. Thank you all for your time and your wisdom."
As the teachers begin to file out, conversations low and thoughtful, I allow myself a quiet chuckle.
'And just like that... everything is falling into place. After all, who could possibly object when it's all in the name of student well-being? Right, Kata?'
**********
A/N: Hello Everyone. So yeah, this is the end of the Hosu arc. I could write more, mainly how Shoto, Izuku and Ida dealt with it, but I feel like the arc has already dragged on too long.
Next is gonna be a kind of slice of life arc, for a few chapters, maybe 5-7, with a bit of a gion in between. Awesome stuff, I suppose (I actually look forward to writing it).
Anyway, How'd I do this chapter? Personally, I hate writing scenes with group discussion and multiple characters, since I ain't good at it IRL, but it is what it is. I also felt like I should've written All Might having more dialogue, but he'll get a chance later on (maybe?), idk. I tried to have them all be in the right personality, and I doubt I was all that successful, but I tried, which counts for something, right?
I feel these consequences are sufficient and realistic. I mean, the news was suppressed, and Ida would probably get a huge warning from the police, have to do community service and so on, as well as a lot of barriers in his path to becoming a hero. While removing him would be logical, I can't just erase main characters like that. Otherwise, it'd have happened in canon. There's a lot of things like the circumstances, his family is one of heroes, with lots of connections, I'm sure, and that'd likely cushion the blow for him. The fact that he didn't kill anyone, despite the intent, and that the person was a villain as well.
But yeah, we won't be seeing Ida for a while in U.A., maybe elsewhere, but that's uncertain even to me at the moment.
Midnight's gonna be getting involved with Kata, and how much do you think Nezu planned and manipulated towards this result? It's all for the greater good. (Would've loved to fit that in, but there wasn't a good moment)
Oh yeah, Jiro's gonna be coming up soon. But, on a completely unrelated, very random note, any random song suggestions that would get a girl like her interested if sang by a good singer? (It's all a coincidence, I swear👀.)
I'm also thinking of starting a new fanfic (I'm not dropping this one, so no one worry). I was thinking JJK since I'm currently interested in that at the moment, as well as Danmachi and Tensuraverse as candidates. I haven't decided on the powers yet, but I was thinking something like great sage (if it ain't Tensuraverse). I think I've learned a lot from writing this fic, and could do a lot better if I started again, so I'm interested to see what you guys are interested in. Let me know your thoughts.
But, that's enough from me. I hope y'all have a great day!
