The sudden spike in his killing intent was no doubt from the scene before him. There, a couple of steps layed two bodies.
Not unconscious or asleep, no.. But disfigured, in the sebse their head wasn't connected to their bodies.

With wide eyes he slowly walked over to his parents bodies. His steps heavier than normal, like the overwhelming weight of gravity was crushing him.
Slamming his knees down to the floor, he leaned in. His heart thumping more loydly, like a starting engine.
'Are they—' He stuttered, the words refusing to come out.
As a demon wuth advanced hearing, he could clearly sense heartbeats from miles. But even very close now, he couldn't hear a faint pulse not mentioning a beat.
