"I don't think there's anything more for us to say," Mabel Quinn said.
"Don't you want the household registration book? Is it really okay if you and Kyle Kinston can't get married?" Evelina asked urgently.
"Even without the household registration book, I think I can still get married!" Mabel said, finding her mother's actions somewhat ridiculous. Did her mother really think that by holding the household registration book, she could control someone else's life?
"Then... don't you care about your father at all?" Evelina said, "What I want to tell you is related to your father. Are you coming or not?"
Mabel's heart was stirred. Her father was her weak spot; matters concerning him naturally piqued her interest.
But she also knew, given her mother's personality, she wouldn't bring up her father without a reason. Was it about money again?
"If you want to talk to me about father, then you come find me yourself," Mabel said.
