After the Scout finished speaking, he hesitated for a moment and added, "How could Captain Kaglis be ambushed? When he led us, we never once fell for the tricks of those cunning mountain people."

The Scouts fell silent; the situation was too bizarre.

But the old soldier waved his hand, "I have a suggestion; let's split into two groups. You take the message back to Lord Pallas, while we continue forward and try our luck in Fir City."

"That's too risky," a young Scout protested.

"No Scout avoids risks," the old soldier waved his hand again. "I hold the highest rank here. Follow my orders: you all return, just leave two people with me."
