As a Mage, how should one efficiently and completely clear a goblin cave?
To some extent, this isn't a question worthy of discussion.
After all, even the lowest-level magic apprentices still have the identity of spellcasters.
The basic tricks they have mastered, such as "Blade Protection," "Friendship Technique," and "Repair Skill," are enough to make these mage apprentices popular adventurer partners, second only to Priest-type professions in most areas of the continent.
Adventurer teams with a fixed spellcaster member generally wouldn't rely on hunting goblins, such low-tier demons, for a living.
The high supply costs, if one takes a goblin nest as the final task objective, might end up losing a dozen Gold Coins on a single trip.
Therefore, unless in special circumstances, professional mages with comprehensive spell tables are not interested in, nor have the time to waste like those low-level adventurers, spending time and energy to eradicate goblin communities.
