Ignatius Leclair's brows furrowed, his gaze dark and stormy. Reginald Yeager's poorly thought-out scheme could only deceive a fool like Delphine Carter, who naively rushed in headfirst — a stupid, heartless creature.

Ignatius was at his breaking point. His long, slender fingers tightened, forcing her to meet his gaze. His stunning face was cold, his lips curled into a mocking smile. "Reginald Yeager protects you, and you think you're treasured? Delphine, do you think a woman I've used is one Reginald would dare to claim?"

Delphine's face went pale as she slapped his hand away. She stood up, retreating to the corner of the wall, silently staring at the emergency room, her quiet defiance evident.

Ignatius withdrew his fingers. Seeing her stubborn and defiant demeanor, he took a deep breath, grabbed her slender waist, and hoisted her over his shoulder, striding out.
