On the day of the grand wedding.
Bai Zhi'er woke up early; Feng Fuce had already gone to prepare for the procession and was not in the room.
While several Female Demons were doing Bai Zhi'er's hair and makeup, the grass spirit spoke from the doorway: "Your Majesty the Demon Queen, your mother has come to see you."
Bai Zhi'er hurriedly turned her head, only to see Jing Jia standing at the door, eyes red and brimming with tears.
"Mother!" She got up and threw herself over, rushing into her mother's arms.
"Zhi'er." Jing Jia held her tightly: "Let me take a good look at you, see how you are now."
Jing Jia looked her up and down, her eyes full of heartache: "You've lost far too much weight. When I learned you were carrying a Demon Fetus, I was both shocked and afraid."
"You were born with a Divine Root; the Demon Fetus has to draw too much nourishment. I'm afraid you won't be able to withstand it."
