Chapter 412 - Chapter 412: Smoke Without Injury, That’s the Treatment of a Protagonist

Obito suddenly felt a little emotional, "So just seeing me makes you want to run? Looks like my deterrence is already this great."

"But…"

"Why is it… back then, you weren't like this?"

"If at that time you had obediently left, perhaps… everything would have been different."

The moment the last word fell, Obito's figure had already vanished.

The three, Hikari and the others, were horrified, because this kind of ninjutsu, suddenly disappearing right before your eyes, was one they were all too familiar with.

This technique was known as Iwagakure's nightmare.

Oishi shouted, "It's Flying Thunder God, careful!"

But it was already too late.

The next instant, Uchiha Obito was silently standing behind Mahiru.

Mahiru felt the killing intent from behind, only then realizing what had happened. Before he could react, Obito's hand was already holding a kunai, which slashed across Mahiru's neck.

"Farewell."

Mahiru kept his previous posture. From the cut on his neck, blood sprayed out as he collapsed to the ground, breath gone.

Oishi and Hikari watched their comrade instantly slaughtered, their pupils constricting sharply.

So this was Flying Thunder God… slaughtering a jonin or a genin made no difference at all. Both were matters of a single instant.

And compared to Minato's Flying Thunder God, where he would first throw the dreaded "Death God kunai," this time they hadn't seen anything at all.

Oishi cried out in shock, "Impossible! Where's your kunai? How could you be so fast?"

Obito said, "Kunai? That kind of thing, I haven't needed in a long time."

"Forgot to tell you, my Flying Thunder God has already surpassed even Teacher Minato!"

The last word, "surpassed," was still some distance away from Oishi when spoken.

But suddenly, that distance collapsed to near nothing.

Oishi watched helplessly as a kunai stabbed toward his eye. Closer, and closer.

He wanted to twist his body to dodge, but his reactions couldn't keep up with his thoughts.

Pfft!

The kunai pierced straight through his left eye.

"This stab is for Kakashi," Obito pulled out the kunai, watching the blood spray from Oishi's left eye as he clutched it and fell to the ground. He spoke faintly.

Then, his Eternal Twin Kamui Mangekyo Sharingan opened.

"This one is for myself. Die!"

Space around Oishi's head twisted. In just an instant, his head was ripped away.

He became a headless corpse, crashing to the ground.

Obito then turned his head toward the trembling Hikari.

"One left," Hikari could only stare as Obito casually slaughtered his two comrades. In Obito's scarlet eyes spun six sickle-bladed windmill tomoe.

He muttered, "That's… a Sharingan? But intelligence said you hadn't awakened the Sharingan! And what kind of Sharingan is this?"

Obito looked at him coolly, "Intelligence didn't mention it because this is intel you'll never live to pass on."

"Have you decided how you want to die? Because I've already decided for you."

Hikari's face twisted with grimness. He didn't think himself much stronger than Mahiru or Oishi. They had been killed like pigs, and he would be no exception.

But, even if the hope was slim, he had to struggle.

He slammed his palms onto the ground, using his trump card.

"Earth Release, Rock Cave Collapse!"

The ground shook violently.

A massive boulder, drawn together by the shifting earth, ripped free of the ground with a thunderous roar, flying toward Obito.

Obito watched this ninja, who once had nearly killed him, now forced into a desperate final struggle with a move that looked grand but could never hit him. He only shook his head.

"Don't you know? This kind of clumsy ninjutsu can never strike a ninja who wields Flying Thunder God."

But even as he said it, this time Obito didn't dodge. He stared straight at the boulder hurtling toward him.

As it drew closer and closer, his left-eye Kamui spun. At once, a space portal opened between him and the boulder. The enormous rock was swallowed into the twisting void, vanishing completely.

Hikari was aghast. He had known he couldn't deal with Obito, but this was his ultimate technique. Whether it worked or not, he had to use it.

He had thought of all kinds of counters Obito might use, but not this one.

At this moment, Obito spoke again, "This is the death I chose for you. To die under your own jutsu."

"I should taste too, what it's like to be crushed by a boulder," As his words fell, above Hikari's head, Kamui's space tore open.

That very same boulder came crashing down from the void, smashing mercilessly toward him.

Hikari froze, staring up at the inexplicable boulder appearing above his head, his face filled with disbelief.

But he was only a mere Iwa jonin. Facing this level of space-time ninjutsu, he… could do nothing.

BOOM!

The rock crashed down, shaking the earth violently. Dust exploded upward, engulfing Hikari entirely.

Obito didn't coolly turn away at once. He waited patiently, standing on the spot until the dust settled.

When he saw beneath the boulder a mangled corpse smashed beyond recognition, he finally murmured slowly, "I thought after every smoke cleared, everyone would come out unscathed. Seems I overestimated you. You're not Naruto, nor Sasuke."

Hands in pockets, Obito turned away. His body slowly sank into the earth, disappearing without a trace.

———

Inside the cavern, Obito's body emerged from above, slowly dropping down.

Rin, still by Sato Yuki's side, looked up at him and asked, "Problem solved?"

Obito smiled, "Solved. Didn't expect to run into old acquaintances, the one who captured you, the one who blinded Kakashi, and the one who crushed me with rocks."

Rin puffed up angrily, raising her little fists, "If I'd known it was them, I'd have wanted to beat them up too!"

Obito scratched his head, "Sorry, Rin. I already killed them, haha."

Then his eyes calmed, looking toward Sato Yuki, now wrapped like a mummy in bandages, "And her, has she pulled through?"

Rin thought for a moment, "Parts of her body were missing. Madara patched them with White Zetsu cells. With my dragon vein chakra nourishing her, it's fused into one. But…"

"She's not you. Her rejection of Hashirama cells is huge. If this continues, she'll be consumed by them, she'll turn into a tree."

"My suggestion? Treat a dead horse like a living one. Give her a Sharingan transplant. Use the power of a Sharingan to suppress the Hashirama cells."
