"What?!"
Brother Yijin Jiao jumped up from the couch as if his pants were on fire: "Did you just say 400 what?!"
Teacher Houquan repeated for the third time, "Total score is 471, academic master's, nationwide standardized test."
Brother Yijin Jiao's eyes widened: "You must have heard wrong?!"
Teacher Houquan slowly shook his head: "I checked all the subjects' scores, it adds up correctly."
Teacher Houquan listed them as if counting treasures: "First—Politics 92."
…
The first score left Brother Yijin Jiao with his mouth open wide.
Politics is quite a special subject for Chinese students.
Growing up under the red flag, as long as one doesn't intentionally abstract it, or isn't incredibly slanted in thinking, scoring too low in this subject is tough; there have been cases where students even passed the national line without extra study, scoring over 60+.
But this subject has a high lower limit and a low upper limit; getting a high score in Politics is very difficult.
