Chapter 606 - 168. Divine Ancestor Asherah

Los Angeles, a melting pot of races, and a major hub for the world's economy and industries.

But at the same time, it is also a devil's city, a whirlpool of crime, a metropolis where depravity and prosperity coexist and compete. In this chaotic city, people who deviate from the world's principles live in seclusion. They are those who sell their ethics and conscience to devils in exchange for extraordinary magical power—they are the sorcerers.

"King of Flies," is an organization name despised by people yet highly suitable for these sorcerers.

If it weren't for the existence of that natural enemy, known as the Holy Guardian of Los Angeles, perhaps "King of Flies" would have already become the ruler of this city.

Blue seas and clear skies, with not a single cloud for ten thousand miles. Such refreshing weather would normally make one feel incredibly comfortable, but at this moment, the entire city of Los Angeles was enveloped in a strange sense of oppression.

There was no other reason; it was simply because today was the day of the decisive battle between "King of Flies" and the Holy Guardian!

Above the city, two streams of light continuously intertwined and collided. The sky wailed in sorrow, and the earth trembled. The sheer force of the enormous explosions was enough to make the people on the ground feel dizzy, disoriented, and extremely uncomfortable.

Boom!!!!!

With another collision, two streams of light, one black and one purple, fell to the ground. Instantly, two figures became visible.

One of them was surprisingly a young girl. With a delicate face, she was clad in a red robe that enveloped a body still lacking in full curves but brimming with the beauty of youth. Her long, pale purple hair almost reached the ground.

Ignoring the fierce aura emanating from her, she was undeniably a stunning young girl, as if she had stepped right out of a comic book!

Her appearance was captivating, but her inner self was terrifying. The girl's name was Asherah, and she was also the witch who commanded the entire occult organization known as [King of Flies].

No, perhaps calling her a witch isn't appropriate, because she was the reincarnation of a deceased god, a being known as a Divine Ancestor!

Opposite the Divine Ancestor Asherah stood a relatively taller figure. A black cloak shrouded a body whose gender, male or female, was indiscernible. The equally black helmet was adorned with two long, tentacle-like appendages.

Their attire was somewhat peculiar, giving the impression of a beetle-themed superhero from a children's cartoon.

John Pluto Smith. Although his (her) true name was unknown, people had always referred to him (her) by this name. Unlike the valiant or brutish God Slayers, and unlike the Grasscutter King renowned for his beauty, this Demon King was known throughout the world for his benevolence and righteousness.

From his (her) birth, he (she) had continuously fought against various evil forces, protecting this city where decadence and prosperity coexisted. The wicked feared and cursed him (her), while the people loved and revered him (her).

He (she) was the guardian of this city, and moreover, its hero!

"God Slayer—John Pluto Smith, you are indeed very strong. Even if all the magicians in the world were to gather, they probably wouldn't be able to defeat you, but... it's too late, far too late!"

Even though the power of the Divine Ancestor was far inferior to that of gods and demon kings, Asherah showed no fear as she looked at Smith. Her proud expression now carried a strange mix of hatred and ferocity.

"Although we, [King of Flies], have been defeated by your hand multiple times, this time I will not lose to you again! The essence of water and earth, the wicked thoughts and obsessions of those foolish people, will all help me transform into the defiant Leviathan!"

"Hahahaha... Can you feel the surging divine power within me? I am now on the same level as you, transformed into the 'Defiant Serpent,' a being on par with a God Slayer! Witness it well!"

Contrary to her vicious nature, Asherah's physique appeared very petite. As the Divine Ancestor finished speaking, her slender, beautiful body vanished, and she began to swell and change shape.

Her arms retracted, her legs fused into one, her body elongated, and her neck lengthened as well. Her smooth skin became covered in scales, and her beautiful face transformed into that of a reptile.

Within mere tens of seconds, Divine Ancestor Asherah had transformed into a colossal serpentine monster!

A monstrous serpent, more than fifty meters long, swept across the beaches of Venice. If stretched out from head to tail, it could rival a twenty-story building. Its scales were shimmering silver-white, so beautiful that they could only be described as noble and extraordinary.

Though his expression was hidden by his helmet, Smith proved his resolve through action, taking a step forward, ready to charge towards the defiant serpent, Leviathan, that Asherah had become.

"Smith, no, you can't go!"

It was the voice of a middle-aged man, a magician named Jack, who was Smith's assistant and partner. However, even he had never seen the true appearance of the esteemed Holy Guardian.

There was no particular reason for calling out to Smith, it was merely because Jack suddenly felt a profound sense of unease.

"Could you wait a moment, my dear Jack? To refuse a lady's invitation to dance... that's not my style... and this situation doesn't allow me to evade combat."

Halting his steps, Smith's voice, somewhat neutral and difficult to discern as male or female, retained its usual gentlemanly demeanor and tone.

Many believed that the revered Holy Guardian was a perfect male figure with a gentlemanly demeanor, and countless women had fantasized about a beautiful encounter with him beneath his mask. Despite the lack of concrete evidence, no one had ever considered the possibility of the Holy Guardian being female.

However, reality is often cruel. If people were to know that what was truly encased within that black cloak and helmet was merely a...

As expected, Jack couldn't stop Smith. He again advanced towards Asherah, who had transformed into the defiant serpent, Leviathan. However, as he charged, Smith's body also continuously grew larger and larger, and in the blink of an eye, he had transformed into a giant approximately fifteen meters tall!

Without any hesitation, the colossal giant and the silver serpent began to grapple. The churning waves surged into the streets, and both luxurious cruise ships and the docks were utterly destroyed by the aftermath of the battle.

A giant serpent coiled around the giant's body, biting its shoulder; the giant grabbed the serpent's tail and smashed it into the bottom of the sea. Hisses and clashes—this was a battle of inhuman proportions, a life-or-death struggle between a divine ancestor and a Demon King…

"My King, the society just sent an important piece of intelligence."

Inside the Kusanagi residence, Erica approached Sora with a serious expression and spoke.

"Our 'Bronze-Black Cross' also received news."

Like Erica, Liliana's face was also serious.

Both the "Copper-Black Cross" and the "Bronze-Black Cross" had sworn allegiance to Sora, but Sora didn't have much to delegate to them. Although the two societies often conveyed important messages and intelligence, Erica and Liliana usually handled them, as Sora was too lazy to bother with such trivial matters.

"What happened?"

Seeing the two women's solemn and serious expressions, Sora asked with a puzzled look.

"The American Godslayer has passed away. It's said that the Holy Guardian fought with the Divine Ancestor Asherah, leader of the King of the Flies'. Although Asherah used some method to transform into the Heretic Serpent Leviathan, she was still defeated. However, in the end, she dragged that Demon King into a self-detonation."

At this point, Erica's expression was grave, and she sighed, remarking that the fall of a Godslayer was no small matter; it could even affect the entire world order. Moreover, unlike other Godslayers, Erica had a favorable impression of that particular Demon King, second only to her own Demon King.

After hearing Erica's words, Sora was startled, and then a memory surfaced in his mind.

"Hehehe, don't worry, that guy isn't so easy to kill."

Shaking his head, Sora chuckled, somewhat speechless, remembering that icy woman who shared a similar style with Ena.

Exchanging glances, a peculiar glint flashed in Erica's and Liliana's eyes. They never doubted Sora's words, and after forming the contract, Sora had also transmitted some information to them. Since their King said that the Demon King was not dead, then it must be true!

"Asherah, huh? It seems that woman is about to appear…"

Stroking his chin, a graceful figure like a celestial maiden from the nine heavens appeared in his mind. Sora's lips curved into a wicked smile, and he murmured…
