Chapter 169 - The cure?

Silas had tried to give her space and busy his mind by burying his head in other affairs, but every time his eyes laid on a something that wasn't Arabella, the image of her cradled in Cynric's arms would come knocking at the figurative door behind which his consciousness was contained.

Nothing but the sound of her voice could quell his worries. Although, at that late hour, Arabella didn't speak much if not at all. 

Only the gentle rustling of water came from her room as she continued to sit in the bathtub with no sign of leaving it in sight. 

The footsteps that moved around her belonged to Katherine. From time to time, the vampiress would very sweetly attempt to coax her out of it, but to no avail. 

"Arabella, dear," her soft voice reached Silas, "You've been sitting in the water for more than two hours already. Perhaps it is high time you leave it behind. You need rest after…," Katherine trailed off, seemingly unsure on whether to utter the end of her sentence or otherwise.
