The vibration of Phuwin's phone jolted him awake. He groaned, blindly reaching for it before answering without even checking the caller ID.

"Hello," he mumbled, his voice thick with sleep.

A familiar, slurred voice poured through the receiver. "Phuwin..."

Phuwin blinked, suddenly more awake. He pulled the phone away from his ear, squinting at the screen. As expected, it was Pond. Again.

"I love you, naa."

Phuwin sighed.

"I love you so much, Phuwin," Pond continued, his words tumbling together in drunken sincerity. "If sometimes I'm not a lovely partner, I'm sorry, naa."

Silence stretched between them.

"Why aren't you saying anything?" Pond's voice wavered, frustration creeping in. "Do you love me?"

Another pause.

"Answer me, please. Why are you always like this hmm"

Phuwin pinched the bridge of his nose. This wasn't the first time. He had lost count of how many drunken confessions he'd received from Pond-texts, calls, slurred I love yous whispered over crackling phone lines.

"Pond, where are you? Who are you with?" Phuwin asked, glancing at his clock. Past midnight.

"Some school friends," Pond muttered.

"And where exactly is 'somewhere'?"

Pond hesitated. "I don't know..." Then, his voice softened. "Phuwin, come pick me up, naa. I don't wanna go home. I wanna be with you."

Phuwin exhaled sharply. "Pass the phone to someone next to you."

A rustling sound followed before another voice, unfamiliar but steady, took over. After a brief exchange, Phuwin got the location-just a minute's drive from his condo. Without hesitation, he threw on some clothes, grabbed his keys, and headed out.

Because no matter how many times this happened, no matter how many drunken calls Pond made... Phuwin always answered.

"You know you can't handle alcohol, but you still drink past your limit." Phuwin sighed as he guided Pond into his apartment, his grip firm but careful.

Pond lowered his head like a scolded child. "I'm sorry," he mumbled.

Phuwin shot him an exasperated look. "Why are you apologizing to me? Just go take a shower-I'm not letting you near my bed smelling like beer."

He tossed a set of clean clothes at Pond, who caught them clumsily before trudging toward the bathroom.

Minutes later, Pond emerged, looking slightly more sober, his damp hair clinging to his forehead.

Phuwin, already lying in bed, barely acknowledged him, his eyes half-closed.

Silently, Pond dried his hair, then slipped under the covers. The moment he settled in, he scooted closer, pressing his forehead against Phuwin's shoulder.

"I miss sleeping next to you," he murmured, inhaling deeply. His fingers lazily traced the waistband of Phuwin's nightwear. "I've missed this."

Phuwin's breath hitched. A strange sensation curled in his stomach as Pond's fingers continued their slow, teasing movements.

"Phuwin," Pond breathed, his nose nuzzling the crook of Phuwin's neck. "You feel so warm."

His arms tightened around Phuwin's waist, pulling him closer.

This wasn't new. Drunk Pond was always affectionate-always touchy.

And just like always, Phuwin's body reacted to his touch, involuntarily drawn to the warmth of his fingertips.

But this time, something was different. Phuwin couldn't quite put his finger on it, but there was something about the way Pond touched him tonight-something that made his breath hitch and his heart race in a way it never had before.

Phuwin's pulse quickened, heat creeping up his neck. Pond's whisper and lingering touch sent sparks skittering down his spine.

"Stop, Pond," Phuwin muttered, voice unsteady.

Pond exhaled against his ear, his fingers sliding up from Phuwin's stomach to his chest. "Why?" he whispered. "It feels good, doesn't it?"

Phuwin swallowed hard.

"If you don't want to sleep on the couch, keep your hands to yourself." His voice was firm, but it did little to hide the tension in his body.

Pond huffed dramatically and turned away, sulking. "You're so mean."

Silence filled the room, save for the steady hum of the air conditioner.

Minutes later, soft snores drifted from Pond's side of the bed. Phuwin exhaled slowly, running a hand over his face.

Pond might have fallen asleep easily, but he'd left Phuwin wide awake-frustrated and tangled in emotions he wasn't ready to unpack.
