Two armored Kree officers stood in the center of the square, inspecting the Kree soldiers lined up before them. To them, Earth was nothing more than a fragile rock, barely worth their attention.
Bang!
A fiery orange-red energy beam blasted into one of the officers in white armor, knocking him off his feet and sending him crashing to the ground.
"Kree soldiers, huh? Not that impressive."
Stark hovered in the air, smirking beneath his helmet. But before he could enjoy the moment, a barrage of dazzling energy blasts rained down on him from all directions.
"Oh, come on! So this is how you wanna play it? Fine! Bring it on, you blue-skinned intergalactic bullies!" Stark taunted, his repulsors glowing in response.
The officer he had struck moments ago slowly climbed back to his feet, his expression dark. The white armor he wore remained largely intact, aside from a few scorched black marks where the energy beam had hit. His gaze locked onto Stark with cold fury.
"Kill him."
His command was simple but absolute. The Kree soldiers raised their weapons, ready to eliminate the "fleshling" in their sights.
Suddenly, the sky darkened. Thick storm clouds rolled in, covering the entire Big Apple City.
A loud thunderclap echoed through the battlefield. And then—
BOOM!
A massive figure dropped right into the midst of the Kree soldiers, wielding a meteor hammer crackling with energy.
"Finally! Some real action! Let's see if you Kree are as tough as you claim!"
Thor grinned wildly, eyes gleaming with excitement. Without hesitation, he swung his weapon, sending a Kree soldier flying like a ragdoll. The impact was so powerful that the unfortunate warrior slammed through a building before vanishing into the debris.
One by one, Kree soldiers were crushed beneath the might of Thor's meteor hammer, each strike landing with the force of a warship collision.
"Haha! Come on! Where's all that arrogance now, Kree?!" Thor bellowed, enjoying every second of the battle.
Meanwhile, Mar-Vell zipped through the battlefield, firing off bursts of dark green bio-electric energy from his modified pistols, knocking out enemy soldiers one after another.
On a nearby rooftop, Hawkeye pulled back his bowstring, releasing arrow after arrow with pinpoint accuracy. Each shot found its mark, dropping Kree warriors where they stood. Explosive arrows detonated in the ranks, sending blue-skinned soldiers flying.
The city was in chaos. The Avengers fought back against the invading forces, their combined efforts holding the Kree at bay.
Above the battlefield, Stark darted through the sky, drawing the Kree's fire and leading them on a wild chase. His flight patterns were erratic, unpredictable, forcing his enemies to waste their shots. And as he weaved through the air, he picked them off one by one, whittling down their numbers.
S.W.O.R.D. Headquarters
"Sir, is that massive thing really the Kree mothership?" Pietro asked, his voice filled with disbelief.
Gene Mason stood at the center of the operations room, his arms crossed as he watched the live holographic feed. On the screens, various battle zones were displayed, with different cities under attack. But one image stood out—the colossal black warship hovering over New York City.
"That's right," Skynet responded in Gene's stead. "Based on data collected from the Starlink satellites, we estimate the Kree mothership to be approximately twenty miles in length."
Pietro swallowed hard. Even for someone as fast as him, the sheer size of the vessel was staggering. The rest of the Sword Squad members exchanged uneasy glances.
"So… what's the plan?" Wanda finally asked.
Pietro grinned. "Isn't it obvious? We hit the battlefield and take the fight to them!"
Gene shook his head.
"Wait," Spider-Man interjected, raising an eyebrow. "Aren't we supposed to be the good guys here? Shouldn't we be out there protecting civilians?"
Gene met his gaze with a calm expression. "Tell me, how many of you can take on an entire alien army head-on?"
The room fell silent.
"I thought so," Gene continued, pacing in front of them. "Besides, the Avengers are already in the field. Our mission is different."
His visor glowed faintly as he turned toward the holographic screen.
"Our objective is to infiltrate the Kree warship above New York City."
The room went still for a moment. Then—
"Wait, what?" Pietro blinked. "You mean we're going straight for their command center?"
"Exactly."
"Awesome!" Spider-Man grinned, his excitement barely contained.
"But, Sir," Wanda interjected, her brow furrowed, "even if we succeed, that only solves part of the problem. The real threat is the mothership floating in space. How are we supposed to deal with that?"
Gene's expression remained unreadable. "That part… is my responsibility."
Everyone turned to look at him in shock.
"What did you just say?" Pietro blurted out. "Sir, that thing is twenty miles long! Are you seriously thinking about taking it on alone?!"
Gene remained calm. "Yes."
"That's insane! You don't even know what kind of defenses it has! There could be thousands of Kree soldiers inside, and who knows what kind of technology they're packing!" Wanda argued, her voice tinged with concern.
The rest of the Sword Squad shared her sentiment. Gene was their leader, the one who had built the S.W.O.R.D Bureau from the ground up. The thought of him going into such a dangerous mission alone was unthinkable.
Gene's gaze swept over his team, his voice steady. "I am the commander. It is my duty to make these decisions. And you should know by now—I never enter a battle unprepared."
His words carried a quiet, unshakable confidence.
And they were true.
Unlike the others, he wasn't going in blind. He knew the Kree. Their strengths, their weaknesses, their technology. He had seen it all before—in his another reality.
He was already calculating the best course of action, weighing every possible outcome, formulating the most effective strategy.
This wasn't a reckless gamble.
It was a carefully planned execution.
The room fell silent once more.
Then, one by one, the Sword Squad members nodded, placing their trust in him.
Gene's visor flickered with light as he turned back to the holographic display.
"Let's begin."
