Hagrid didn't believe him. "Really? Then you must be the most brilliant genius Hogwarts has ever seen."

Harry sighed helplessly. "I didn't really have a choice."

"But you still can't come. If anything happens to you, Dumbledore will have my head."

Harry looked down, voice subdued. "None of you are willing to let me face even the smallest danger. That just makes me a greenhouse flower. If people start calling the so-called 'Boy Who Lived' nothing more than a pampered plant, I'd feel awful."

Hagrid hesitated, then sighed. "Alright… but you have to stay right next to me. If anything happens to you, how would I ever face your parents?"

Harry smiled. "Relax. You might even need my help. Let's go."

The two of them headed into the Forbidden Forest.

The Forbidden Forest was vast, filled with towering trees and creatures long thought extinct.

It was a true wilderness. No witch or wizard had ever explored it in its entirety—too large, too dangerous.

Yet its untouched nature made it a treasure trove, like the depths of the ocean.

Every year, shady wizards entered hoping to gather rare ingredients or hunt magical beasts for profit. Most didn't survive. But a few did—enough to keep others trying.

The trees stretched dozens of meters into the air, casting the forest in near-total darkness. And that was in winter, with most leaves gone and snow on the ground.

In summer, the canopy would block out the sky entirely.

Only creatures adapted to this environment could thrive here—those with night vision, sharp hearing, or extraordinary instincts.

Harry frowned the moment he stepped inside.

It was more oppressive than Snape's dungeon.

Worse, he felt it—a presence, watching him.

But unlike those oblivious heroes in stories who brush off such feelings, Harry trusted his instincts. His growing mental strength told him it was no illusion.

He quietly gripped his wand.

They walked deeper into the forest.

Strange howls echoed through the darkness. Glowing eyes peeked out from shadows. A nauseating stench filled the air in places—likely the den of some beast.

Hagrid scanned the area, then stopped suddenly, staring at the snow.

"Wolf tracks," he muttered. "But far too big. A giant breed. We need to move—if there's a pack, we're in trouble."

He quickened his pace. Harry followed closely.

They twisted through the forest until Harry began to wonder if Hagrid was lost.

"Found it," Hagrid said suddenly.

Harry straightened. "Where?"

"Come look."

Hagrid crouched. In the snow was a silvery liquid. Harry dipped a finger—it was thick, slightly sticky. Around it, deep hoofprints marred the snow.

He could imagine the struggle.

"Unicorn blood," Hagrid said grimly. "It must be badly hurt. Let's follow the trail."

They followed the drops of silver until they came upon a massive tree.

Its roots rose from the ground like twisted arms. Beneath them lay a unicorn, motionless.

A shadowy figure knelt beside it, drinking its blood.

So focused was it on feeding that it didn't hear them until they were nearly upon it.

It spun around.

In that instant, pain exploded in Harry's forehead. His scar felt like it had been branded.

The pain came fast and left just as quickly.

He gasped. For a moment, it felt like he couldn't breathe.

Before Hagrid could react, Harry raised his wand and shouted:

"Avada Kedavra!"

A green flash shot forward.

The shadow moved too slowly. It raised a shield charm—useless against a killing curse.

Except—it wasn't a killing curse.

It was a Blasting Curse.

A surge of force slammed into the figure's chest, launching it through the air like a doll.

It landed with a crack, coughing up blood—red and silver mixing together.

Its ribs were shattered.

He'd been tricked. It wasn't the Killing Curse—Harry had faked it.

But the shadow didn't dare stay.

He was too weak. His soul, eaten away by his master, made casting magic nearly impossible…
