Akame ga Kill World - Northern Border of the Empire
Deep inside a cave that once belonged to a Danger bear-type Beast, a blue-haired girl sat by a campfire, roasting the front leg of the beast she'd hunted a couple of days ago.
Despite receiving an invitation from another newcomer who had joined the chat group with her, she didn't bother responding.
Instead, she followed the beginner's guide suggested by the system:
•Step one: Go to the [Daily Check-in] page and complete your sign-in.
•Step two: Use the points earned from signing in at the [Point Enhancement] page to strengthen either yourself or your gear.
Now holding a small knife that had been enhanced with just 2 points and could now easily slice through the thick fur of Danger Beasts, Esdeath finally acknowledged that this chat group was the real deal.
Her interest in the chat group and the veteran members had reached a whole new level.
『Esdeath』: So you can connect to different worlds and use their resources. That must mean you're all pretty strong, right?
『Esdeath』: And you—@Veyron—since you're the admin, does that mean you're the strongest in the group?
That question was so Esdeath-y.
Seeing himself tagged, Veyron chuckled and replied in the group chat.
『(Admin) Veyron』: Well, technically, the admin role is voted in. But yeah, you're not wrong. Before you and Shiroyasha joined, there were seven of us, and I was the strongest.
『(Admin) Veyron』: Of course, that might not hold for long. No one knows what kind of monsters this chat group might pull in next. The void is vast—there might come a day when we get someone so incomprehensible, so far beyond our current understanding, that we can't even perceive them properly.
『Esdeath』: So even though you're the strongest, you still needed votes to become the admin? Meaning if they hadn't voted for you, you'd have to take orders from someone weaker?
『(Admin) Veyron』: Well, technically, everyone in the group stands on equal footing. Each of us represents a whole different world, after all.
『(Admin) Veyron』: Anyway, enough of that.
『(Admin) Veyron』: I don't know your exact situation, but would you two be interested in claiming the newbie starter bonus? Like a kind of welfare loan?
『Shiroyasha』: What kind of loan?
『(Admin) Veyron』: I mentioned this in the newbie guide. Everyone gets a guaranteed drop on their first pull in the Gacha section. It might not be life-changing, but it's never trash either. If you want, I can front you 100 points. Pay me back whenever you're able.
『Esdeath』: That guaranteed drop… does it only apply to the 100-point gacha pulls?
『(Admin) Veyron』: Back when we pulled, that was the only option. But now, there's also a 1000-point version. That should still qualify.
『(Admin) Veyron』: That said, I wouldn't really recommend the 1000-point Gacha. From our experience, using 100-point Gacha is actually better—and the really good stuff is in the Group Shop not the Gacha.
『(Admin) Veyron』: The 1000-point version just filters out the low-value junk—but the high-end rewards seem to be the same tier as the 100-points.
『(Admin) Veyron』: But hey, if it makes you feel better, I can send you 1000 points instead.
『Esdeath』: Then I'll take the 1000 points.
『Shiroyasha』: Me too, me too. I mean, even if it costs 900 more, at least I'll feel better about my chances. And at a pace of 2 points per daily check-in, that's just over a year to pay it off—not a big deal.
『(Admin) Veyron』: Got it.
Veyron sent out two red envelopes, each containing 1000 points, one to Esdeath and one to Shiroyasha.
And to their credit, neither of them tried to play it smart by using only 100 points and pocketing the rest. As soon as they got the points, they both went straight for the guaranteed 1000 gacha pull.
And the things they pulled...
…Well.
Shiroyasha pulled out a copy of the Black Bible. Veyron had a sneaking suspicion it came from one of those kinds of anime—you know, the kind that begins with an H.
As for Esdeath—she drew Frostmourne.
Now that was instantly recognizable. A legendary sword from the World of Warcraft universe, infamous for being the longsword Prince Arthas Menethil used to slay his own father, King Terenas. A cursed weapon if there ever was one.
Even in Veyron's previous world, people who'd never touched a Warcraft game had at least heard of that name online.
『(Admin) Veyron』: So? How do you two feel about your first Gacha?
『Shiroyasha』: Hmm… interesting, I guess? But not that interesting.
『Esdeath』: This sword...
Holding the stunningly ornate, ice-blue longsword in both hands, Esdeath felt an overwhelming surge of power coursing into her the moment her fingers wrapped around the hilt. Her long blue hair shimmered in the light, and a look of intoxicated wonder flickered across her eyes.
If she had gotten this sword earlier—if she had joined the chat group sooner—then even if her parents weren't strong enough, with her protection, they might not have died to the barbaric northern invaders and the deadly beasts...
Still… now that she had Frostmourne, she can...
"!!!"
『Esdeath』: There's something wrong with this sword.
Before the weapon's sinister power could corrupt her mind any further, Esdeath forcefully resisted its power and let go of the hilt, exhaling a long, heavy breath.
『Esdeath』: It's trying to twist my thoughts… to mess with my mind and turn me into its puppet.
『(Admin) Veyron』: Not bad. You shrugged off its influence with sheer willpower. Honestly, I thought my first emergency rescue as admin might have to be for you.
『Esdeath』: …..
『Earth's Cancer』: Wait, you can get stuff that dangerous from the Gacha?
『Lady Avalon』: Why not?
『Lady Avalon』: Even if there's a downside, that doesn't change how insanely powerful it is, right? Wouldn't you agree, @Esdeath?
『Esdeath』: Among all the weapons I've ever seen or heard of… this one's definitely the most powerful.
Just the raw stat boosts alone—strength, speed, durability—and that strange sense of heightened clarity when she held the sword, would be enough for her to hunt Super Danger Beasts that she would've needed to seriously prepare for otherwise.
But that wasn't what made Frostmourne truly terrifying.
Its real power? The ability to raise the dead.
With it, she could build an undead army—absolutely loyal and completely under her command.
The catch, of course, was that to harness that power, she had to let the sword's dark will in. Once she crossed that line—once she started raising the dead—there'd be no backing out. No more simply letting go of the hilt when things felt off.
The Scourge needed a master.
And the Scourge's master… was the Lich King.
『(Admin) Veyron』: Want me to come over and check on you?
『Esdeath』: …So this is what you call a "newbie benefit," huh?
『(Admin) Veyron』: Kinda... Kinda not.
『(Admin) Veyron』: One of the ways I grow stronger is by studying and adapting to different power systems—those born from the unique laws and conditions of other worlds. The more systems I understand, the stronger I get.
『(Admin) Veyron』: So… I was thinking I'd swing by and see if I could harvest a new seed of power from your world.
