Chapter 23 - Chapter 22: Hearts Of Vengeance

Jungkook stepped into the mansion, expecting to find Jimin in the guest room. He didn't like the thought of his brother developing feelings for Anna. After all, she was the daughter of their enemy, the man who had hurt Jimin so mercilessly in the past.

"I'm not going to let this happen," Jungkook mumbled, as if promising himself. He climbed the stairs and reached the upper floor. As he turned the corner, he spotted Jimin sitting at the far end of the hallway, quietly sobbing.

Jungkook's chest tightened. He noticed Jimin's wound throbbing, fresh blood staining his clothes. He knew Jimin's magic twisted his mind, blurring the line between reality and his hallucinations.

Jungkook moved closer, his steps gentle and careful. "Jimin," he said softly, "I'm here now. It's okay." He knew Jimin struggled to tell what was real during these moments, so he needed to ease the situation.

When the Aquanis's magic messed with their minds, it could be dangerous, and the individual could attack others. In the worst scenarios, excessive use of magic could pressure both the mind and heart simultaneously, potentially leading to a long-lasting coma.

Jungkook knew the threat. Jimin's hallucinations were absorbing too much magic, and the wound was depleting his core energy. He couldn't allow the situation to worsen further, so he decided to stay calm, even though his own heart ached seeing his brother struggle with such intense pain.

Jimin quickly looked up, tears streaming down his face. His wound bled, and his skin looked pale from the pain. He lifted a shaky hand, crying like a child, as Jungkook's presence brought comfort, and his mind returned to the present.

"Jungkook," Jimin choked out, "I waited for you. I keep seeing Professor Ben... it's too much. He won't leave me alone." His voice cracked, and he stumbled over his words between sobs.

Jungkook knelt beside him and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "It's okay, Jimin. I'm here now. You're safe. Your hallucinations are gone now," he said, his voice steady but heavy with emotion. He tried to calm his brother, his heart breaking at the sight of Jimin's pain. "Just breathe. I won't let anything hurt you."

Jimin clung to Jungkook's words, his sobs slowly easing as he leaned into his brother's presence. Jungkook held him tightly, vowing to himself that he would protect Jimin, no matter what it took.

"Once you feed on a heart, everything will be alright," Jungkook said, patting Jimin's back. "Now let's go to your room, and I'll bring you a human heart." Jungkook helped Jimin get up, and they walked toward Jimin's room. Jungkook made Jimin sit on the bed.

"Wait here for a minute," Jungkook said.

Jimin nodded. He held onto the edges of the bedsheets and looked for any signs of Professor Ben. But Professor Ben was gone now, ever since Jungkook arrived.

"Don't take too long," Jimin said. "The pain is getting worse," he added with a groan.

Jungkook nodded, and within a second, he dashed down to the basement, where Jimin had kept his other prey, Principal Joseph Lee, a member of the Secret Organization once owned by Officer David Kim.

Jungkook stormed into the basement, his eyes glowing with a dangerous light. The air felt heavy, and the dim light flickered, casting eerie shadows on the walls. Principal Joseph Lee sat tied to a chair, his face bruised and bleeding. He looked up weakly as Jungkook approached, his breathing shallow and labored.

"You... you think you can do this and get away with it?" Joseph stammered, his voice shaky but defiant. "My son, Ryan... he's a police officer. He'll come for you. He'll make you pay for this!"

Jungkook stopped in front of him, his lips curling into a cruel smile. He tilted his head, his sharp claws glinting in the dim light. "Ryan?" he said, his voice low and mocking. "If your son tries to get involved, I'll tear his heart out too. Do you understand? He's nothing to me."

Joseph's eyes widened in fear. "Why are you doing this to me? What is my fault?" he cried.

"You're a member of the Secret Organization. You provided the funds to torture my brother," Jungkook growled. His jaw muscles twisted as he clenched his fist. "My brother... he's still enduring so much pain because of you." Tears burned his eyes.

Joseph parted his lips to speak, but before he could beg for mercy or apologize for his past sins, Jungkook slashed his claws across Joseph's face.

Blood sprayed as Joseph screamed in pain. Jungkook didn't stop. He grabbed Joseph by the throat, his claws digging into the old man's skin. Joseph choked, his legs kicking weakly.

"You think your son can save you?" Jungkook growled, his voice cold and merciless. He leaned closer, his glowing eyes piercing into Joseph's. "No one can save you. Not Ryan. Not anyone."

Joseph gasped for air, his body trembling. "Please... stop..." he begged, his voice barely audible.

But Jungkook didn't care. He released Joseph's throat and stepped back, his claws flexing. Joseph's chest heaved as he struggled to breathe, his face pale with terror. Jungkook's eyes locked onto Joseph's chest, and without hesitation, he plunged his sharp claws into the old man's flesh.

Joseph screamed, his body writhing in agony. Jungkook twisted his claws deeper, his face emotionless, as Joseph's cries filled the basement. Blood poured from the wound, soaking Joseph's clothes and pooling on the floor.

"Scream as much as you can. It'll only please me and my brother," Jungkook said, his claws scraping against bone as he reached deeper.

Finally, Jungkook gripped Joseph's heart and ripped it out with a sickening tear. He held the still-beating heart in his hand, blood dripping between his fingers. Joseph's body slumped forward, lifeless, his head hanging low.

Jungkook stared at the heart, his expression calm, almost satisfied. "This will help Jimin," he muttered to himself with a devilish smirk on his face. He wiped the blood on his sleeve and turned away, leaving Joseph's lifeless body behind.

Jimin released a sharp breath as he finished eating the human heart. The pain in his chest began to fade, but he still felt weak and drained. "I feel much better," he said, wiping the dripping blood from his mouth with the back of his hand.

He looked around, and when Jimin saw no signs of his hallucinations, he felt at ease. "What about Serena? Did you find her?" Jimin asked, looking up at Jungkook, who stood closer to the bed, his face filled with concern.

Jungkook nodded, hesitating to reveal that Professor Ben had captured her. He knew how much pain Jimin was feeling at that moment. "I found her. I'll bring her back so you can get closer to Anna," he said.

"Okay, then we should leave," Jimin said. He forced himself to stand up, but Jungkook pushed him back down.

"You can't go anywhere right now. You're too weak," Jungkook said. "Your hallucinations absorbed too much energy from your body, so you need time to heal completely."

Jimin noticed Jungkook's face contort with anger and pain. The younger man struggled to stay calm, and it showed. "Professor Ben is the one who abducted Serena," Jimin said, his voice tinged with pain.

Jungkook's eyes widened in surprise, but he quickly realized that Jimin could read his thoughts, even in his weakened state. Using magic in his condition would only harm him further.

A long sigh escaped Jungkook's lips. "You can't go there. You can't face him right now. You're already in pain, and I know how hard it would be for you," he insisted. But deep down, he knew Jimin would never give up.

As expected, Jimin shook his head. "How can I let you go alone? We both know how dangerous Professor Ben is," he said, refusing to let his brother face the danger alone.

Jungkook surrendered. "Alright, we'll go together. But promise me you won't use your magic, and I'll take the lead," he said.

Jimin nodded. "Okay. Let's go," he said, rising from the bed. The two made their way out of the room, but suddenly Anna's agonizing cry brushed against thier ears and they both looked each other in surprise.

"Anna woke up, I should go and check her." Jimin said, avoiding his own pain he headed towards the guest room.
