Kiyotaka's life in the mansion was normal; it was the kind of normal he had always wished for
He still wasn't used to having someone telling him good morning, making him breakfast and asking how he slept and start casual conversations for no purpose.
But he can't lie, he liked it. This was the normal life he always wanted to try, but couldn't. it's funny how he could experience the normal life everyone had from birth Only after death
His day revolved around waking up, eating three times a day and having snacks from all over the world while reading.
But if you asked his favorite part of the day, kiyotaka would answer ' it is the afternoon, when sora makes him the best tea ever and whines about his assignments and how much he has to do to catch up and how many exams he has to retake because of his poor attendance'
He finds it amusing how sora always creates new short cuts to finish things in the fastest non imaginable way. It comforts kiyotaka that in this world there really are people he could never predict and some of his ways sometimes leave kiyotaka speechless in a good way.
At the start kiyotaka would offer to teach him but later he found it more interesting to sit back and watch sora groan and mess up his hair while coming up with impossibly creative things
'it is interesting how humans always find a way to get things done when time isn't in their favor'
Other than his absenteeism, where if a month is 31 days, he attends only 1 and 30 he is on sick leave.
It's also not like he is doing anything at home other than cooking.
Kiyotaka always thought he was the most unmotivated and laziest person ever seen as described by his previous classmates but he now could buff his chest proudly state that he is not the worst and brag that he at least he was never absent and submitted everything on time.
" what are you doing staring at the wall while not cleaning?"
He was holding a broom that was taller than his body to clean the dust in sora's room while grumbling why he had to clean his room, but he was completely ignored.
'this has to be child labor'
The moment kiyotaka finished, he put the broom behind the door, the owner of the room can return it himself.
Sora was laying on the bed on his back while texting someone on the phone.
Kiyotaka watched as he started rolling from one side of the bed to the other while growling and making weird noises.
"why are acting like a rabid dog all of a sudden?" kiyotaka asked while slowly taking steps to the door so he can bolt out before sora throws his responsibilities on him again.
"kiyo" he hear a gentle voice calling his name.
That was his sign to start running out without looking back, He didn't need to look back to know sora is hot on his tail.
He barely can even hear footsteps behind him and he running full speed.
'scary'
I turned sharply to the left to jump down the stairs just to feel sora's fingers graze my forehead and I watched how his eyes were observing me while falling down to the ground.
I contracted my muscles and adjusted my body to fall on my feet so I can sprint immediately once my feet touches the ground.
I never got to touch the ground because I was caught midair by the collar of his shirt.
He wasn't surprised sora caught him, he had an idea of how physically capable the man is after living with him for a month now.
"come on, it's not that bad this time"
Kiyotaka played dead with his whole body relaxed and eyes closed.
'give up on what you can't control'
Sora threw his body over his shoulders like a sack of potatoes and started climbing the stairs to kiyotaka's room.
Kiyotaka has his own personal room right beside sora's room.
Sora was very thoughtful in giving kiyotaka full freedom to choose any room he wanted the first day he came.
Kiyotaka chose the room closest to sora so he can observe him.
Everyday sora will teach kiyotaka how to absorb spiritual power by staying still and letting kiyotaka experiment how to absorb it. At first, sora planned to teach him everything but kiyotaka's experiments made him interested to see what the little smart devil will find out, maybe he will find new ways to absorb spiritual powers and create a revolution in the world
Sora narrowed his eyes, curled his lips and started humming in anticipation of the future.
Sora opened the door to Kiyotaka's room and throw him on the bed, Kiyotaka offered no resistance and simply let his body sink in the soft mattress.
When Kiyotaka chose which room he wanted. that same day, sora asked Kiyotaka if he had any preferences or how he wanted the room decorated.
Kiyotaka's reply was "whatever, as long as it has all necessities then I'm okay with anything"
Sora decorated the room with a forest theme in mind , the furniture and ground being dark brown wood with green carpet covering more than half of the room.
Kiyotaka did think his room had a lot of unnecessary stuff, he specifically didn't understand the swing in the middle of the room. It took lot of space. The only thing he really appreciated was the bed.
The bed was so soft, the bed sheets smelled like they were sunbathed. kiyotaka couldn't explain the smell but he was sure he liked it.
He was prepared when he was dumped on the bed.
He lazily raised his upper half to sit up half way to talk to his torturer.
Staying silent and avoiding eye contact was his way to show his displeasure. He hadn't been in this house for a long time but he was forced to do sora's work 2 times already.
"I may have forgotten to tell you that there are different worlds with different races and species and now we may or may not have to do a mission in one of them"
Kiyotake forgot about everything and looked at sora with a blank face while getting closer to smell him, when he smelled no alcohol, he mumbled weakly "huh?".
Kiyotaka never thought that humans were the only intelligent race living in this planet but as someone who used to believe in science but ended up as a ghost after death. He no longer overlooks the impossible
He accepted the situation and waited for sora to finish explanation but sora was looking at him boredly while huffing "I guess I have to be satisfied with the fact you showed some surprise".
Kiyotaka raised one eyebrow to signal him to stop wasting time.
Sora reached in his pocket to take out a packet of cigarettes, he definitely needed one right now with the upcoming conversation.
Kiyotaka silently opened the windows and sit on the swing, he didn't want to be near sora while he smoke.
"so like I told you before, all supernatural users need to answer to the guild and do missions." Sora took one long drag of the cigarette before exhaling slowly with his head titled to the back. His eyes glazed over while watching the smoke fade away. "every once in awhile I receive a mission, you were registered in the guild as my familiar. So it's gonna be your first official mission."
Sora turned his head towards me with a smirk on his face "everyone is curious about how great someone who became my familiar is." His eyes looked amused but started burning brightly as he told me seriously "crush them".
While watching him I felt my chest getting warmer while my muscles flexed unvoluntary, my eyes widened as I realized I started getting excited.
The thought of an unknown world where I know nothing at all made me unconsciously became hungry for knowledge.
What kind of races live there? What do they look like? What language do they speak? What kind of laws does the world follow? What makes them different to humans? Are they more advanced than us? Who there can defeat me? How many people are stronger than me? How smarter are they? Is their education system better than the white room?
I was getting lost in my thoughts but sora's gaze woke me up, he didn't interrupt me but simply watched me while smoking.
"what is the mission we have?" I asked him for the details for the mission to start thinking of plans.
"we have to make someone's soul rest in peace. simple, right?" sora grinned with cigarette between his teeth.
I blinked, not believing a single word coming out of his mouth. If there is something I knew after living with sora. It is the fact he is unbelievably strong and a mission that needed him definitely isn't going to be simple.
"more details" I asked while thinking maybe I was being rude "please".
I was expecting answers to come out of his mouth but of course he had to start spouting nonsense " awwww, are you finally learning manners"
I sighed while moving to get away from this lunatic but couldn't escape the head rubs that attacked my head.
"say it again"
"no" I turned him down coldly while moving away from the offending hand.
"Is there anything I need to know?" I inquired of him since he deemed telling me details about the mission unimportant for some reason.
He looked at me quietly before saying something that stayed lodged in my brain for a long time " there are rules I personally follow:
Never believe anything is impossible. Never trust the shadows Never make a contract with a shadow"
Sora was waving 3 fingers in my face before putting them down and turning his back on me to walk out of the room "there is more rules but your small brain needs to memorize the first three then we can talk about the rest "
I felt my eyebrows twitch for a second but ignored my rising irritation to ask about a detail I wanted to know "what is the name of the world we are going?".
Sora stopped walking beside the door for a second before turning towards me with no expression.
The silence stretched for about 3 minutes before he raised his hand to scratch the back of his head awkwardly.
"what was it again? I can't remember the name" he grinned sheepishly before trying to explain himself after making eye contact with me, I don't know what facial expression I'm showing but it seemed to make him embarrassed as he defended himself weakly "Do you know how many worlds are out there? It's normal to not remember all names"
He walked out again to disappear in his own room, leaving me dazed and uncertain how to deal with him.
