Chapter 245 - Chapter 245: National Treasure Attack and Counter-Ambush

In the Valley of the Gods, the Knights of God, the navy, and CP agents all raised their eyes to the colossal shadow in the sky. Reverence, dread, and awe flickered in their gazes.

That was the supreme weapon of the Celestial Dragons—the legendary national treasure.

Said to be a creation of the Twenty Kings themselves, it was the ultimate guarantee of the World Government's rule. A weapon that had slumbered for centuries, yet could still suppress the world with its mere presence.

They watched as the shadow scanned the battlefield. Then, without a word or sound, it veered away—heading toward the second half of the New World.

"Good! With the national treasure chasing them, Rocks and Brook won't escape this time!"

A vice admiral clenched his fists, his voice shaking with excitement. Until this moment, he had thought the treasure was nothing but rumor. But its overwhelming pressure left no doubt—it was real, and it was terrifying.

If that weapon had turned its power on the Valley of the Gods itself… would any of them still be standing here?

"Gather every ship!" Admiral Kukulkan's deep voice rolled across the field. "Prepare to strike the New World the moment the national treasure delivers judgment! If it wipes out a pirate crew, we move to crush what remains. We will pacify this era once and for all!"

The Celestial Dragons had awakened their ancient weapon again—something they had not done in centuries. This war had forced their hand, and Kukulkan intended to seize the chance to restore the Government's supremacy.

Navy remnants scrambled to form up fleets, while Admiral Kong marched his troops toward the New World to link up with Kukulkan. The order was clear: once the national treasure struck, the navy would follow in its wake.

Far across the seas, the golden ship tore through the skies. The Kirin Lion pushed the Wind-Wind Fruit to its limits, accelerating them toward Golden Lion Shiki's position.

"Captain Brook! It's bad!!" Hiruba shouted from the observation deck, panic in his voice. "That… thing is flying toward us. It's too fast—faster than anything I've ever seen. It'll catch us for sure!"

Brook's grin stiffened. Chasing us? Im, you old thief… Instead of crushing Rocks of the D clan, you come after me?

"What should we do, Brother Brook?!" The crew turned to him, faces pale. They had never seen the so-called national treasure in action, but even rumors of an island-destroying weapon made their blood run cold.

"How's it tracking us…?" Brook muttered. "What is this—some kind of… satellite guidance?"

Then it hit him. His eyes widened.

"Oh no. Its real target isn't us—it's our base!"

The crew froze.

Doragenzo Island—their stronghold.

Redfield jerked the controls, swerving the golden ship onto a new heading. Hiruba peered through the Glare-Glare Fruit, his voice cracking. "It's not turning… It's still locked on Doragonzo!"

Brook's gut twisted. The weapon wasn't chasing them at all—it was locked onto the coordinates of marked islands. And his base was next.

"No…!" he snarled. "It won't destroy my island. It won't touch what I've built!"

Snatching up a Den Den Mushi, Brook barked orders.

"Vegapunk! Point every new weapon at the skies—now! Evacuate everyone immediately! Load the Adam-built cannons and the Thunder God Island railguns! Prepare to fire on that thing the second it appears!"

One after another, he called allies—Bugs, Vegapunk, Moore Thomas of the Economic News, Dr. Kutu of Ohara—demanding evacuations and defense.

"We'll stop hiding. We'll strike first! This is our counter-ambush!"

Brook's expression hardened like steel. He had poured blood into building his territories. He would not let the Celestial Dragons erase them with a single stroke.

"When this is over," he growled, "I'll go to Wano and seize Pluton myself. Then we'll see who truly rules this sea."

He ordered Shiki to ready his floating island for interception. The world king, Im, might think the map gave him omnipotence, but there were limits. New or unmarked islands couldn't be targeted—only those the World Government had already charted and claimed.

That meant Im held the power of life and death over every member nation. And the CP agents had been quietly marking pirate havens and free states as well. Im could wipe them out at will, like a god pressing his finger to a map.

If the allied kings ever discovered this truth, Brook thought darkly, they would rise up as one to shatter Im's throne.

But until then… he would strike first.

The golden ship hovered directly on the path to Doragenzo, engines roaring.

Redfield cloaked the skies in thunderclouds, lightning already crackling at his fingertips. Charlotte Linlin merged Zeus into the storm and began summoning her devastating technique.

On deck, Brook and the others swallowed blood crystal dandelions, restoring their strength. They readied the strongest ES medicine, steeling themselves for what was to come.

Brook merged his ghost generals again, his form swelling into that of the Reaper. A towering death god stood waiting, blade in hand, daring the heavens to strike.

Then Hiruba's scream pierced the air.

"It's here!!!"

The crew saw it: a monstrous disc-shaped fortress cutting through the clouds, silent and swift. Its alien design gleamed like something torn from another world. Even at supersonic speed, it made no sound.

It was Uranus.

"Get ready!" Brook roared. "Give it everything you have!"

Redfield, Newgate, Linlin—all raised their weapons. The Hell Pirates braced as one, their strongest techniques blazing to life.

----------------

The massive form of the Celestial Dragons' national treasure grew from a speck in the distance into a colossal fortress that blotted out the sky.

Too damn big! Brook's thoughts raced as he stared up at it. What kind of high-dimensional monstrosity is this? How can such a thing exist in the broken technology tree of this world? What fuels a machine like that? Is this… a fusion of Devil Fruit power and science at its absolute peak?

A torrent of questions flooded his mind. The sheer sight of the national treasure shattered everything he thought he knew about One Piece's world.

"Airquake!!"

Whitebeard's roar cut through the chaos. His fist swelled, coated in cracks of white energy, before slamming forward. The sky itself split as the Tremor-Tremor Fruit unleashed a shockwave, halting the flying fortress midair.

"Raijin!!"

A black sphere of lightning dropped from the storm clouds above, exploding into a web of electric serpents that lashed across the fortress.

Charlotte Linlin's soul-infused thunder hunted relentlessly for weaknesses, slamming against the shield that encased the fortress.

"More more—Hundredfold Cannon!!"

"Golden Electromagnetic Shot!!"

And then Brook's own voice rang out, darker than the storm:

"Styx Shura Slash!!"

From his Seven-Star Demon Sword surged a sea of blood and wailing specters. The blade tore through the heavens with killing intent vast enough to drown the world.

Far away, in the Holy Land of Mary Geoise, Im sat forward on the Void Throne. Through the vision of the national treasure, he had witnessed countless wars. But not since the great conflict eight hundred years ago had anyone dared ambush his weapon.

A pulse of energy rippled through the fortress's core. A barrier flared to life, blocking every strike from the Hell Pirates.

"These little ants dare… to ambush me?" Im chuckled softly. If the national treasure could be destroyed so easily, it would never have survived centuries. Still, the sudden interception burned through some of the sacrificial energy. His eyes narrowed.

"They've chosen death. So be it. I'll erase them first, then reduce Doragonzo Island to ashes."

The fortress answered his will. Lances of atomic energy erupted from its hull, each beam as deadly as an admiral's full strike.

"Dodge!!"

Fishman Tom wrenched the golden ship aside, evasive maneuvers tearing through the skies. Still, not every shot could be avoided. Brook, Linlin, and the others blocked the unavoidable blasts with sheer will and raw power.

Redfield surged forward in a flash of lightning, the Thunder Noble Sword carving into the shield again and again. Brook and Linlin mounted Hera and Zeus, racing after him, while Whitebeard stayed behind to guard the ship.

But Uranus was no lumbering beast—it darted through the skies with impossible speed, weaving through shattered space like a predator toying with its prey. Lasers and artillery fire filled the heavens in a storm of death.

"Damn it… this shield!" Brook's jaw tightened. If the golden ship was destroyed, his crew would be torn apart. Already, one laser had burned through the hull, thick smoke pouring from the wound. His rage boiled over.

"Linlin! Guard my body!"

Brook's body slumped into her arms as his soul tore free, a spectral twin blazing with green light.

"The Secret of the Underworld—Soul Leaving the Body!"

The spirit of Brook plunged into Uranus, bypassing its defenses entirely.

Inside, Brook's soul gazed in shock. Gleaming halls stretched before him, filled with humming machinery and dozens of knee-high robots, all silently obeying Im's commands.

"Im!! You forced me to this!!!" Brook's voice thundered.

Even in Marijoa, Im's eyes widened. He entered it? For the first time in centuries, the King of the World rose from the Void Throne.

"Return at once!!"

But Brook was already laughing, his voice cold as the grave.

"Soul Explosion—Underworld Cold Wave!!"

His spirit swelled and detonated. A flood of deathly frost surged outward, blanketing the fortress's interior. The robots froze mid-motion, encased in black ice.

Brook's essence streaked back into his body, collapsing weakly against Linlin's chest. His face was ashen, his aura drained to its dregs. Yet his eyes burned bright with hunger and greed.

Could it be? After all this… have I finally seized it?

But as hope surged, the fortress shuddered—then bolted skyward, faster than their eyes could track. In an instant, the national treasure vanished into the clouds, leaving no trace.

Brook's fists clenched, his eyes blazing with fury.

"So close…" he whispered hoarsely. "So close, and still I couldn't keep it…"

The world's greatest weapon had slipped through his grasp. For now.
