Chapter 60 - Chapter 27: Kitsune

Quilliene was being dragged across a stone floor, her hands and feet bound by rope and some sort of circular contraption on her left upper arm that had a glowing purple gemstone in it. A man with his back to her was holding her feet bindings, pulling her into a rather large room with a high ceiling. A strange looking rocketship-like contraption hung from the ceiling, and he soon dropped her by a large hole right at the edge, brushing his hands together.

Quilliene was coughing and grunting, her body trembling and shivering as she fought the bindings. She was trying her best to register where she was and how she got there. Her mind was whirling in desperation, and she felt excruciatingly weak, her eyes bloodshot and tired but alert with all the pain. She was silent except for the few grunts and yelps caused by the agony. Taking a moment, she glanced down the endless black hole, then to the man so she could examine him.

The man seemed to be wearing a white kitsune mask - a feline shape covering for his eyes and nose, decorated with red marks and slanted lines as holes. He bent down, messing with a rope and pulley that seemed to lower some type of cage towards them. Then, as it hung metres away in front of her, he grabbed her by the shirt and threw her across the chasm right into the cell.

As she landed with a cry, she looked back up to see him shift and morph in shadows. Then, as a strange large black bird, he shot towards her. She screamed before he landed against the door, slamming it shut as he morphed back into a human shape. He leaned down to look at her as he locked the cage, and she stayed stiff and panting as he spoke.

"You can try to use your power, your majesty," He said with a grin. "But I'm afraid it won't work. That clamp on your arm will engulf it if you do, which will only give me more of what I want."

Her eyes scanned him, hate behind her gaze. "What do you want with me?" She hissed. "Where are we? I do not expect a quality answer, but something of a hint would be nice."

He let out a soft laugh, grinning at her. "I don't mind giving you an answer, really, but I love to watch you squirm in wonder," He mused. "Though you could say I need to borrow that ability of yours… Well, not exactly borrow, since I won't be giving it back."

"What ability?" Quilliene demanded. "Which special power of mine do you want? I have not even unlocked my full potential as queen yet - not until I turn twenty one."

"Which is why I'm going to unlock them a little early," He said in a sadistic tone. "You can control all sorts of magick. Imagine dropping every single kind of it all on London. My, wouldn't that be a sight? It would be like fireworks… But with everyone screaming."

She scowled. "You would not dare. The people of London are innocent!"

He threw his head back in laughter. "Come on, your majesty! You must have learned by now that no one is innocent. Especially your little family… Speaking of which, how did you enjoy your welcome home gift?"

"What?" She breathed. "What do you… Wait…" Quilliene suddenly realised how she recognised this man. His voice was familiar. "You… You're the England Ignitionist! That was you who left that gods damned monster in my castle… That was you… You killed my parents…" Her eyes widened as the truth settled in.

"Why, yes," He leaned closer. "It was me. But don't worry, you'll see your parents again soon." A small chuckle, then he sighed. "You know, I don't have to wear this mask. For one, you'll die anyway. And besides, I can be anyone and anything I want to be. I could be a kid walking down the street, or a man heading to work - a ginger cat or a simple fly. And I can also be…" His eyes behind the mask started to glow red. "Your worst nightmare."

A strange darkness seeped out from behind the covering of his face, the shadows engulfing them both as forms of people appeared and wailed into Quilliene's ears. Her eyes widened before something filled behind them. A strange emotion of fear and dismay, filling her as tears streamed down her face. She screamed, yelling a shrill cry at the voices to answer their chilling calls.

Something grew inside of her - something stuck in a cage like she currently was, but it morphed and burst free of its shackles. It was misty, dark, and filled with hate. That single spark exploded inside of her, translating into power as she looked up, her eyes glowering a bright purple. Tails of different shapes and sizes shot out of her back, whipping about rapidly.

However, as quickly as it came, the shadows faded. Right when she seemed at the peak of her power, it was all dispersed immediately when the device on her arm clicked. The purple energy along with the tails was suddenly ripped away and sucked inside the gem, electrocuting her slightly - like a small zap of lightning had pierced her arm. She yelped, feeling the electricity as she herself was weakened. Her body grew tired as she fell to the side, looking up as she panted.

The man was in front of her again, hanging from the bars with one hand and both feet, a wide smile on his face. "Call me a sadistic fuck, but you're cute when you're scared."

"You…" Quilliene gasped. "You sick bastard." Her face was still red, mostly out of anger. "I'm going to kill you once I get out of this cage. Or they will, when they find me."

"If they find you," He corrected. "Too bad your dear bodyguard won't be coming along since he's too busy laying in a pool of his own blood under your window."

"You… You did what?!" She cried out, sitting up.

"Sorry, your majesty," He shrugged. "Stabbed him right in the chest and threw him out a window. Not likely he survived."

"You bastard!" Quilliene screamed furiously.

"Yes, yes I am," He chuckled. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a bomb to build."

He grinned as he morphed back into that strange black bird which had taken her from the start, flapping his wings as he dove off the cage and disappeared inside the metal object. Quilliene stared after him before she hung her head low, closing her eyes as she forced herself into a blank and emotionless state. A dream-like canopy closed over her, keeping her safe and intact while she would wait for her brother to come save her. Or, if he was still alive… Neo.
