Outside the Borders of the Rain Country
Sakiya and Jiraiya stood on the water's surface, gazing at the land of endless rain ahead of them.
"So, this is it," Sakiya murmured, eyes reflecting the falling droplets.
She stared at the downpour with a thoughtful expression.
"Is this a blessing… or a punishment?" she mused. "This is the first time my Death Eye has seen a phenomenon like this."
Jiraiya sighed, a trace of nostalgia in his voice.
"This country is often called 'The Land That Cries.' Being surrounded by the Five Great Nations, it's constantly caught in war… yet it still endures."
He smiled faintly.
"Funny enough, my title as one of the Legendary Sannin came from a man here."
His expression hardened slightly.
"But now, facing him again, I'm confident I won't lose."
Sakiya gave a small nod.
"Well~ you have gotten stronger."
Jiraiya turned to look at her, his nostalgia instantly replaced by exasperation.
"What do you mean, 'you have gotten stronger'?! You think you know my strength? You've seen my full power?!"
He sighed.
"Forget it. Let's go."
Just as he was about to step into the Rain Country, Sakiya reached into her pocket and pulled out a scroll.
With a flick of her wrist—
Poof!
A small pink umbrella appeared in her hand.
Jiraiya stared.
A ninja worried about rain?
Sakiya ignored his reaction, calmly opening the umbrella and holding it above her head. Then, with a completely serious expression, she declared:
"This is the Heavenly Umbrella! It contains the forbidden arts of the sky! It's not just a normal umbrella!"
Jiraiya, having personally experienced her illusions before, hesitated for a moment.
"…Maybe it really is something special?"
Then he noticed something.
A tiny tag dangling from the handle.
Sakiya followed his gaze—
"670 Ryo."
A price tag.
Silence.
Jiraiya smirked.
Sakiya froze.
Her cheeks turned red in an instant.
Without a word, she ripped the tag off at lightning speed, turning her head away.
"I-I mean… the Heavenly Umbrella Blessing Magic is a divine technique!" she stammered.
Jiraiya laughed.
"Yeah, yeah, the Heavenly Umbrella is amazing," Jiraiya said with a smirk. "Though... it was a bit expensive, don't you think?"
Sakiya shot him a glare.
"Hmph! Do you want to test the power of the Heavenly Umbrella firsthand?"
Jiraiya waved his hands quickly.
"No, no, no! We're already in the Rain Country. We can't afford to make a scene."
Technically, the two of them had sneaked in. Causing trouble now would be a terrible idea.
Sakiya closed her umbrella and walked ahead, stepping carefully through the puddles. Jiraiya, on the other hand, walked freely through the rain.
After a while, he suddenly stopped.
"Sakiya. This is where we split up."
She blinked.
"Here?"
"You'll be fine staying here," Jiraiya explained.
"I'm going to infiltrate alone. It'll be easier that way. If you come along, it'll be harder to move around unnoticed."
"So, I need you to wait at the border and be ready to extract me if something happens."
Sakiya tapped her forehead lightly with a finger.
"But my Death Eye can help you sneak in even easier," she pointed out.
Jiraiya shook his head, his expression turning serious.
"No. What I need is a way out."
With that, he summoned two small toads.
"This one is a contact frog," he explained, pointing to one.
"If something goes wrong, it'll send a message to its partner, and then the second frog will summon me back with reverse summoning."
Jiraiya then looked at Sakiya with a thoughtful expression.
"That giant crater in the southern Konoha training grounds—that was your doing, wasn't it?"
Sakiya nodded.
"If we need to escape, I'll need a large-scale technique to cover us. Akatsuki's members are no joke," Jiraiya continued.
"How long do you need to prepare a technique like that?"
Sakiya shook her head.
"I can cast a Bursting Fireball Technique instantly! It can destroy the world in a blink!"
Jiraiya frowned.
"Wait… really?"
Sakiya nodded confidently.
"Of course. It's just a basic magic spell."
Jiraiya scratched his head.
"Are we talking about the same thing? I meant the attack that leveled the forest near Konoha's training grounds."
Sakiya nodded again, just as serious.
"Yes. That's what I meant."
Jiraiya stared at her for a moment.
"You call that a small technique?"
Sakiya simply crossed her arms.
"Naturally."
Jiraiya studied her face, half-suspicious, but she looked completely sincere.
In the end, he sighed and turned away.
"Fine… I'll leave it to you," he muttered.
With that, he leaped toward the hidden village, disappearing into the rain.
Before he was out of sight, he called back one last warning:
"Sakiya, don't wander off!"
Alone in the deserted area, Sakiya sighed and looked around.
"Is there no place to draw a magic circle?"
Water was everywhere. There wasn't much she could do to pass the time.
As for Jiraiya, she wasn't too worried about his safety. Even without the contact frog's reverse summoning, she had her own ways of protecting him.
Still, she had originally wanted to follow Konan and mess around with the other Akatsuki members. If she stayed here waiting, she'd miss out on all the fun.
Sakiya crossed her arms and tapped her foot.
"Should I go take a look?"
The contact frog beside her spoke up.
"Little girl, I advise you not to wander off."
Sakiya glanced at it.
"Is this thing monitoring me?"
Not that it mattered. If she wanted to, she could blind it instantly with an illusion.
But now that it had warned her, she wasn't as eager to run off. Besides, she had a feeling Jiraiya would be calling for an escape route soon.
Still, she could at least check in on him.
Sakiya turned toward Amegakure.
"Time to activate full-perception mode."
It had been a while since she used her Red Eye at full power.
First, she cast a holographic projection to trick the contact frog's vision. Then, she used chakra interference to block its hearing.
With that out of the way, she took a deep breath, closed her right eye, then—
Snapped it open!
For an instant, an overwhelming energy pulse radiated from her. Her right eye burned bright red, with golden streaks flickering through the crimson glow.
Now, with her Red Eye fully activated, she could see everything in the Rain Country.
Every person, every street, every drop of rain—it was all within her sight.
It was as if the entire country had been reflected in her mind, as though she was watching it from a god's perspective.
If someone looked into her eye at that moment, they would see a mirror image of Amegakure itself.
With enough focus, she could zoom in a thousand times, see individual stones, listen to whispered conversations, and track every movement in real-time.
But she wasn't interested in the small details.
She was only looking for Akatsuki and Jiraiya.
And in the process… she stumbled upon something secret.
A slow smirk formed on her lips.
"Wow~ The butterfly has flapped its wings again. Jiraiya… I think you'll be back sooner than expected."
