Chapter 32 - A misunderstanding between chiefs

After a few more days of resting, I was back to full health. No thanks to being coddled by the sinners.

Mostly by Eve, who healed faster than me. She would mostly stay by my side, using multiple toys to make tea, bake treats, and even help me tuck into bed.

To say I wasn't grateful would be a lie, but having toys tend to my every need was embarrassing for me.

There even was a plush version of me doing the paperwork. All I had to do was read the paper, and the plushy already knew where to sign.

Currently, I was in front of my desk. With two dolls holding the paper up, while the plush version of me was on the side, holding the pen.

"Sign it." The two dolls then placed the paper flat, while the plushy began to sign my name on the dotted line. Yet, as it did so, it was able to write my signature perfectly.

"Chief, how are you on this fine morning?" I turned my body to face Eve, who had a large stuffed bear pushing her from behind.

"Fine as always, though I would prefer if I was the one working." Hearing this, Eve shook her head softly, with a small pout on her face.

"You where harmed because you saved me, it's only fair that I help you." Even though her voice is gentle, I could see it in her eyes that she was set on helping me.

In the end, I decided to do something that I had to put off. I grabbed my phone, and dialed the number to random play.

"Random Play, any tapes are just a click away." Belle answered, she sounded tired, as if there was a lack of customers.

"Afternoon Belle, are both you and Wise free at the moment?" The second I finished speaking, I heard the sound of a cry of surprise, followed by the sound of something falling.

"Is now a bad time?" I asked with concern, after a few more seconds of silence, I heard Belle speak.

"NO! I-I mean, no, we're not busy at the moment." She then coughed, trying to compose herself.

"So… why are you calling? We don't have any pending commissions, and we don't have much clients." She said with curiosity.

"Remember the tape we saw?" I asked while a doll waddled in front of me, holding up a small piece of paper.

Showing a drawing of me and Eve walking under a night sky, with the stars shining above us.

I then looked to where Eve was, and saw her drinking a cup of tea. All the while failing to sneak glances at me, the second our eyes connected, she turned away.

Yet, she failed to hide her embarrassment. The tip of her ears turned red, and I saw a few dolls rushing to her side, fanning her to cool her off.

"Are we going to the outpost to meet Summer?!" Hearing her scream, I pulled the phone away. I expected her to be excited, but not this excited.

"Yes, but I wanted to make sure if either you or Wise are free, I would call Nicole, but..." I didn't need to say more on why.

"Yeah, that make's sense, she would charge you too much." The both of us laughed at the thought, and we soon calmed down.

"I can take you there, but I want in on the expedition." This was a first for me, I had always asked both Belle and Wise to take commissions.

But to hear Belle asking to join us? She must have a reason for this, but why? In the end, I decided to agree to her demand.

After all, she is my proxy. I would need a guide to navigate through the hollow if I want to make it out alive. in the end we decided to meet at Lumina Square to not draw any suspicion.

After ending the call, I stood up and began to make my way to my room, where I could gather my supplies before heading out.

While grabbing my clothes, I heard the sound of my door opening, I didn't bother to look back. "I've healed up, there's no need for me to rest."

"Aww, that's too bad. I bought this cute nurse outfit, and I was going to heal you up quiet nicely." Hearing that dangerous yet sweet voice, I spun around as fast as I could.

I wanted to aim my gun at the intruder, but the gun was replaced with a bouquet of flowers instead. And in front of me, was Bai Yi, who covered her mouth with both her hands.

"Oh chief, I didn't take you as a flirt, but you know I don't do things for free." She then appeared by my side, running her finger across my jaw.

"If you pay me, I can be whatever you want me to be." The second her breath brushed against my ear, I reacted by trying to grab her hand.

Instead, my hand went through her body. Leaving an after image in her wake, while her real body was on my bed

"So, what can I do for the founder of Whitestone industry?" I asked, hearing this Bai Yi smiled as I called her the founder.

But it then turned to a strained smile again, she soon stood up and began to pace back and forth.

"So, it turns out, there is an industry that goes by Whitestone, and since I used that name, I'm being sued for fraud." She then shrugged her shoulders and spun around.

"So, I decided that I could maybe, possibly, ask if I could stay here while I hide from the police?" She then shifted her arms, trying to seduce me.

"You do realize you are always welcome here, but you also know…" Bai Yi then rolled her eyes.

"That I have to be shackled and monitored so that I won't cause trouble." She groaned and held out her hand.

I only smiled and soon took her hand, the shackles then burst from my hand and began to run across her skin.

All the while she pretended to moan in pleasure. I only stared at her with a neutral face, seeing that I didn't react, she only huffed and stopped.

"Your no fun." She said as the shackles finally detained her. "You have so many women flaunted themselves onto you, and you don't even blink!"

"Well, there's a simple reason for that." Bai Yi's interest was now at an all time high, and she waited for my reason.

"I don't want to die." I stated as a matter of fact, since most of the time I had to deal with the sinners almost causing problems within the facility.

Bai Yi opened her mouth to refute, only to stay silent as she began to think on all of the women who declared their love for me.

"Well shit, I got nothing to say against that." She muttered, and stayed silent. "Switching gears then, you know how I work, right?"

"If I want to ask for your help, you want to be paid." Bai Yi nodded her head in satisfaction at my words.

"Good, if you'll excuse me, I'll go find Che and K.K to look for work." But before she could step out, I spoke.

"I may have a job for you." The next second, I was somehow on my chair, with Bai Yi holding K.K by the shoulder, looking confused on what just happened.

"W-what just... Boss?!?!" Before K.K could say anything else, Bai Yi placed her finger on K.K's lips.

"We may have a job." Was all she needed to say to have K.K go silent. She then made her way to the wall and leaned on it, with a serious look to hear out the commission.

"What I need is for you to act as body guards for today, because the location on where I'm going is a military area." Hearing this, Bai Yi began to look away.

"Let me guess, some people wanted you to steal something from the military?" I asked, but Bai Yi began to laugh.

"What? No, there's no way I would do such a heinous crime, it's beneath me." She said but didn't look at me or at K.K

"Boss, we're trying to lay low. And you doing something like this is making that very hard to do so." K.K commented with narrowed eyes.

"But they were offering a good amount of... what's the currency they use here?" She asked, trying to recall the type of money.

"Dennie's." K.K and I replied in unison.

"That's it, dennie's. They were offering a good amount of dennie's." She said, thinking her explanation was enough to justify her actions.

"…" After a long silence, Bai Yi began to sweat as we continued to stare at her. Not believing her words one bit.

"C-chief, I swear I didn't take anything even if the payment was… really, really good." Both K.K and I stared at each other, but sighed.

"Fine, we'll believe you, for now." I said, seeing Bai Yi sigh in relief felt like I was back at the MBCC dealing with her…. Negotiations.

'Guess something's will stay the same, no matter the location.' I thought and continued to gather my supplies.

"Should I assume you're 'borrowing' a vehicle?" I asked while sheathing a knife and placing it on my side.

"Yup, got this bike from this weird guy. A bit emo for my taste." She said while looking at her nails.

"Well, at least it wasn't from the military, so that's fine I guess." I said and stood up to continue to grab my things.

"Oh yeah, speaking of the military, how much are you willing to pay?" She crossed her legs and placed both hands on one knee.

"Fifteen percent." Hearing this, Bai Yi frowned. "Fine, fourty five percent." This time Bai Yi smiled.

"Now we're talking." She jumped up and began to walk out, only to stop and glance over her shoulder.

"What are we waiting for, are we going or not?" She asked, I turned the gun's safety on, and placed it in the holster.

Once done, I grabbed my coat and wore it over my shoulders. "We are, but I can guess you can go ahead if you want. Do you know the location?"

"Sure I do, I scouted the outpost before coming here." She then gave a small wave and left.

"She's going to try to steal those weapons, isn't she?" I didn't reply, I only stood up and began to walk towards the subway.

The only people who came with me, were Eve and K.K. I wanted to have Eve stay behind, but she was instant.

In the end, I had relented. The only think she had took, was a large box. Which K.K carried with ease.

"Chief, may I ask on where are we going?" She asked, while holding a porcelain doll in her hands, brushing the hair with care.

"To an outpost, Summer is their, and she can explain what is happening." Leaving us in a calm silence.

After a quick ride through the subway, with a few stares given to us, we arrived at the meeting spot with Belle.

Who soon made her way towards us with a smile on her face, only for her smile to drop as she saw Eve.

"Isn't that…" Before she could say anything else, Eve cut her off.

"Yes, I'm the one who caused the destruction, and I wish to start by apologizing." She then bowed her head, with her eyes closed.

"N-no it's okay, there weren't any casualties. Just some injured." Hearing Belle dispel her thoughts, Eve gave a faint smile.

"I see, I'm glad to hear that." Her voice was soft as she spoke, and her eyes showed relief.

"Shall we?" Eve looked up at me, and I nodded. As we all walked towards Belle's car, she couldn't help but be drawn to the box.

"Sooo, what's in the box?" She asked, walking next to K.K.

"Belle, for your sake and mine, it's best if you don't ask." She replied, her eyes landed on the box, but she shivered and looked away just as fast.

"Ooookay?" Belle then turned towards me for answers.

"To shorten the explanation, Eve can give life to any toy, but with certain parameters. So long as she gives them limits, they will act as she commands." Belle then nodded at my explanation, and soon spoke.

"So, she's like a puppet master, pulling the strings to move the puppet." Before I could speak, Eve chose to reply.

"All toys are wonderful, and I cherish all toys. In return, the toys help me." The doll in her hand sprung to life, waddling towards the car and somehow jumping high enough to latch onto the door handle.

Seeing this, Belle couldn't help but open her jaw wide. K.K rolled her eyes at the sight, closing Belle's mouth for her.

As the doll opened the door, I moved my arms under Eve's legs, which were prosthetic, and soon placed her gently in the car.

While K.K opened the trunk to store the box, and Eve's wheelchair. Once stored, we all entered the car and Belle began to drive towards the location.

During the drive, I've noticed Belle kept glancing at Eve. More specifically her legs, which saw the prosthetics.

"Eve didn't have them at first." I began to explain, catching Belle's attention. "She lost her legs at a young age due to an accident."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." Belle said to Eve, who only smiled and shook her head.

"It's fine. In fact, I see it as a blessing, I've met wonderful people, I've even come to cherish those I trutly care about…" She then lowered her voice to the point where Belle and I couldn't here.

But we both saw a faint tint of red forming on her pale face. I however didn't notice, while Belle frowned at her words, already guessing what she said.

After driving for a few more minutes, we arrived at what looked like a boarder. Separating the public with military personnel.

"Well, we've arrived." Belle announced, and in front of us, was Bai Yi. Who was waiting for us on the bike she stole from some poor victim.

As soon as she saw us, she stood up and gave a small wave. "Took you guys long enough, I was getting bored here."

Belle then pulled up to the gate, where a solder stood next to the driver side. Once the window was rolled down, the solder leaned forward.

"Are you Eros Voss?" The solder asked, staring at me, I moved my hand in my coat to grab something.

I could see the solder tense, and his hand moved to his side. "There's no need for violence."

I soon pulled my hand back, showing them my badge. As they saw the design, the solder soon relaxed and took it. Handing it to another solder to have it identified.

"Please move the vehicle to the side to wait for confirmation." Belle began to follow the solders instructions, parking to the side to allow multiple vehicles to pass.

"How long do you think it will take for them to confirm?" Before I could reply, a shadow soon appeared in front of us, with dust being kicked up.

"Sooner that you think." I then stepped out of the car and covered my eyes, looking up to see a girl, sitting on a large crescent device.

"Hi chief, glad to see that you came to visit!" Summer called out, the tail of her lab coat fluttered as she slowly descended.

"Summer, glad to see you." I said with a smile, while she gave a bright smile in return.

"Yup, and you've got to see the things they have here!" As she spoke, the solder that took my badge returned, I took it and gave a silent thank you.

"Do you mind if we bring a few guests?" I asked, motioning to Belle, K.K, Eve, and Bai Yi. Seeing them, Summer waved her hand dismissively.

"Of course I don't, you need all the protection you can get!" She said and soon hovered in front of me, hopping off her machine to stand in front of me.

"So, what sort of discovery have you made?" I asked while being followed by the girls.

"So much! It turns out this world uses similar technology when they wish to control the ether, but when it comes to powering their home, its only ether." She then continued to talk about her discovery's, while I only smiled and listened.

After walking for who knows how long, we soon arrived at the outpost. Where I could see multiple solders walking to and fro.

Some carried supplies, while others walked in their designated squads towards the large hollow that I saw.

The second my eyes landed on it, I felt my eyes go dark. I didn't know why or how this happened.

All I knew in the next second, I felt my mind split and I saw five crystals. Those same five crystals I saw when I slept.

"I must devour this worlds secrets, I must discover it all." I heard the first crystal speak.

"The order is wrong, I must fix the natural order." The second crystal shook what felt like anger.

"They must be guided, I shall guide them with my flames." Said the third.

"Damage sustained, must repair in order to repair all." Said the fourth. However, when it came to the fifth crystal, I heard two instead of one.

"Drown into the Abyss."

"Let us evolve into something greater!"

"Find us, Eros's Voss, save us from the eternal nightmare." Behind the five crystals, was a moon, the illusory moon.

It's light shined onto me, and I soon saw multiple monsters rise from the ground. Pulling themselves up from what looked like a tar like substance.

The few that were free charged towards me, extending their appendages to grab me. Flesh, stone, and even metal tried to reach for me.

However, the vision soon disappeared. And I was back in reality, staring at the large hollow that had mania flowing around it.

"Well that was…" The next second I pulled out my knife, blocking a blow from a strike that was aimed at my neck.

Looking at the assailant, I only saw two fox ears in front of me, flickering in front of me. Looking lower, I saw two red eyes staring at me with hostility.

'Am I fighting a prodigy child?' I thought while blocking what felt like a kick from an adult. Sending me sliding back a few feet.

"You have that same aura as those monsters, therefore you are the cause of this." Was all she said before rushing towards me.

"Bai Yi!" Not even a second later, Bai Yi appeared in front of me. Blocking a second strike from a girl.

Feeling the attack, Bai Yi whistled. "Damn, that's a good swing their." She commented, but the girl didn't reply, instead, she kept her focus on me.

"I'm going to regret this." I muttered, but I stood up and soon stood by her side. "Give me the sword."

Hearing my request, all the sinners, and Belle, looked at me in surprise. "Chief, are you sure? I know your good with a sword, but she's a pro."

"I'm sure, but with how she speaks and acts, words aren't her forte." Bai Yi glanced at the girl, then back at me.

"Fine, you do you." She said and handed me her sword, while I handed her my coat. As I held it in my hand, I started to familiarize myself with it.

However, I couldn't take long. Because the girl rushed towards me with her blade mid-swing, aiming towards my head.
