Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 (Goodbye, Teacher)

Two weeks has passed since that day. The report card day had finally arrived. Students and their parents gathered in classrooms, waiting to be called. Daehan was no exception though, unlike the others, she came alone. her turn was scheduled on monday.

As a Hunter with high energy level, how was she still allowed to move freely? Simple. Those who influenced by Igor's Energy were usually equipped with a security device—a band fastened around their left arm. If their energy levels spiked unnaturally, the device would automatically inject a suppressant fluid to lower their consciousness.

With the band wrapped tightly on her left arm, Daehan wandered through the school, looking for her class.

"Wow... So crowded today. Might be the last time I see this place..." she muttered.

She waited inside her classroom. This lace soon be nothing more than a memory: Science Class 3. People moved in and out, chatting, laughing, playing on their phones, running with their friends.

"Hey!! Daehan!!" Her deskmate, Azka, called out excitedly while waving her hand towards her.

Daehan waved back with a small smile.

"You came alo—uh, I mean... have you picked up your report card yet?" Azka caught herself before saying something sensitive.

Daehan smiled gently. "Not yet. Still waiting for my turn. What about you?" she asked, tilting her head.

"Already did~! Mwehehe, I got good grades~" Azka grinned teasingly.

"That's great," Daehan replied plainly.

"Hehe… Btw, what's your plan? Gonna take the test again?"

"Probably, but the process is pretty long. It's hard for me to find a normal job, Zka... or i should say, impossible. I'm a Hunter, after all," Daehan explained.

"Ooh, I see. Well then, I'll head out first! Good luck, yeah?" Azka gave her a cheerful fist bump.

Daehan returned the gesture. Azka, her parents, and the others who had been done slowly disappeared from sight. One by one, names were called—until his turn came.

"Daehan Airlangga, number 29."

Hearing her name, Daehan stood up and walked to the front, taking a seat across from his homeroom teacher and guidance counselor.

"Good morning, Daehan. You came alone?" asked Ms. Widya, her homeroom teacher.

"Yes, Ma'am," Daehan replied, greeting both teachers politely.

"It's alright. Based on your performance here, you've made some solid progress," Ms. Widya said warmly.

"That's good to hear, Ma'am."

"What's next for you? Still staying with the IHA?" asked the counselor.

"Umm... yes, Ma'am. I'm about to take another test to re-enter."

"Have you thought about going abroad? There are some good opportunities out there—you've got potential, especially with your unique ability," she suggested.

"Well... I'd like to, but... I have two younger siblings to take care of," Though, we argue whenever we meet anyway.

"And I honestly i don't know where to start Miss., I've looked around, but found nothing..." Daehan added.

"Found nothing? haha.. you just haven't try it Daehan," She laughed sarcastically.

"How about this, I'll sign you up for an overseas invitation my cousin shared with me. It could be a great opportunity for you" she offered again.

Can I, though? I'm not expecting much. If I get in, great. If not... well, whatever. he thought.

"Yeah? Let me sign you up, alright? It's a good shot," she repeated enthusiastically with a big smile.

"...Sure, Ma'am. Go ahead..." Daehan replied, clearly worn out by her persistence.

"trying new thing wasn't a bad idea, right?"

"GREAT! I'll let you know if you get accepted! One of my former students got in before—it's better than here. I mean, kinda. But hey, if you get to study abroad, that's a good deal!" she said cheerfully, already typing on her phone.

"Err... Alright, Ma'am. I'll get going now. I've still got a mission to handle."

"What? You've got a mission today?"

"Yes, Ma'am. Securing the area... the Igor's Beast on Puncak still needs monitor," she explained.

"Oh, alright then. Take care out there, and good luck," she smiled warmly.

"Thank you, Ma'am."

And with those final words, it might be the last time she spoke with her. Slowly, Daehan's figure faded into the crowd, replaced by another student.
