Roman's integration into the party happened faster than anyone expected. Within a few days, he had moved his belongings into the shared quarters and fallen into their daily hunting routine. Each morning, he would wake before dawn, prepare his equipment, and join the others for their journey into the woods.
"He's getting better," Jax said to Ning as he began butchering at the dead monkey.
"He's in tune with our timing now," Ning said.
Roman grinned, wiping sweat from his brow. Melayne and Lucille were giving him similar praises in the back.
"Thanks. I'm still figuring out how to keep up with you all though."
It was true. Roman was charismatic and skilled, but surrounded by four individuals who could each be categorized as monsters in their own right, he often felt lost. Jax, Ning, and Melayne were close-combat monsters, and Lucille… she was an entirely different thing that he couldn't even begin to understand.
