"No wonder Sister said that. You're a Heroic Spirit, right? ...You're not the Successor to the Second Magic from the future, are you?"
"That would require Old Man Kaleidoscope to die first."
The Five Great Magics could only be wielded by one person at a time, which was why Aoko and Touko had become bitter enemies in their fight for succession.
"That old geezer will outlive everyone. A successor is highly unlikely."
"Then how did you acquire this ability? As a servant, you must have your own history, right?" Sapphire pressed, voicing a question many had pondered.
"An ability involving magic of this magnitude can't be something anyone can just possess."
"I can't give you an answer to that either," Jiang You replied.
Recently, Jiang You had been planning to verify some things. If there were no issues, it would mean the game developers hadn't properly established the background lore. He chatted casually with Sapphire as they quickly arrived at the door of Miyu's room.
Jiang You knocked on the door. "Alright, we're here. Inside is your future partner, Miyu Sakatsuki."
"If you don't mind, please call me Miyu Emiya. Miyu is fine too."
Miyu pushed open the door. She had clearly heard Jiang You recounting her story to others, and since being addressed directly, her lost memories had begun to resurface. Her life before the age of seven, as the Divine Child of the Sakatsuki Household, could hardly be called happy. She had lived solely as a tool, her world confined to that small room. As such, she only felt a sense of belonging to the Emiya surname.
"Emiya, huh?"
Jiang You thought to himself, Shirou Emiya, you're truly a succubus! Everyone around you, male or female, develops an intense fondness for you (Shinji's feelings for Shirou are actually quite profound, and so are Julian's). Good thing I'm immune to the effects of other Cards, or I'd be turning gay too.
"Have you truly never considered what that surname represents? Or the wish to become Shirou Emiya's younger sister?"
"...Is there something wrong with that?"
Miyu was making the same mistake as Illya, only even more profoundly. Truly, she was Illya's parallel world counterpart.
"Of course there's something wrong! Siblings can't be lovers."
If Jiang You hadn't known the original work, he would have assumed Miyu simply couldn't distinguish between familial affection and romantic love. But alas, this was a two-dimensional anime world. "Wanting to protect your family? What a sweet child."
Sapphire floated in front of Miyu. Previously, she had reluctantly agreed to let Jiang You meet the next Contractor only because she was intimidated by his oppressive demeanor. Now, observing Miyu's magical aptitude as a Divine Child—on par with Illya's as the Lesser Grail, possessing top-tier potential and an exceptionally pure heart, utterly untainted by worldly knowledge—Sapphire realized she couldn't have found a more perfect Contractor.
"I never imagined you could find such an exceptional child for me. Regardless of how you managed it, thank you." Sapphire nodded toward Jiang You, if that thing could even be considered her head.
"Joyful Mystic Code: Sapphire, I acknowledge you as my wielder! Let us form a contract and become Magical Girls!"
Drawn to Sapphire's call, Miyu grasped the jewel. Bathed in the magical power of the Parallel World, she completed her transformation into a Magical Girl.
"Amazing! My power feels like it's overflowing! Now I can finally help my brother, right?"
Miyu excitedly swung Sapphire, mimicking moves from anime. In this state, her combat prowess was roughly equivalent to a mid-tier second-rate Heroic Spirit—neither exceptionally strong nor weak. She could hold her own against most servants for a few exchanges but lacked the decisive means to secure victory. She still fell far short of the power of a first-rate Heroic Spirit.
"That's not enough. Your opponents won't be so easy to deal with. Here, take this too."
Jiang You tossed Miyu a Class Card—the Lancer Cu Chulainn card Luviagelita had recovered before the story began. It was perfect for Miyu's Install.
As an aside, this also granted Jiang You a single Cu Chulainn card, but without the corresponding cards, summoning him was nearly impossible.
The mission remained incomplete. Clearly, retrieving just one Class Card wasn't enough to reach first-rate status.
