Chapter 262 - Third Wheel, Sharp Eyes

In a car, Micah sat stiffly in the passenger seat, arms folded tightly across his chest as he stared out the window. The city moved by in flashes of colour and noise, but his scowl remained fixed.

"Really," he muttered, his voice edged with irritation. "We could've just gotten a taxi. Why are you even coming along?"

He didn't look directly at Clyde, but glanced sideways, just enough to catch his reflection in the side mirror.

Clyde, hands steady on the wheel, didn't change his expression. He threw a quick glance at Micah, eyes calm behind the sunglasses on his nose.

"Why can't I come?" he asked. "The one whose mother and sister are in the hospital, didn't object, but you have a problem with it?"

Micah let out an incredulous snort, shifting in his seat to face Clyde more fully. "Because he is too nice!" he snapped, jabbing a thumb toward the backseat without turning around.
