Chapter 88 - Chapter 88: My Wife’s Best Friend

"Honey, you got tomorrow's birthday party sorted? Where we eating? Mom's super excited—you didn't just hype her up with some bullshit, right?" Wen Wan strolled into the study, grinning at Li Bin.

"We're hitting Fanhai Diaoyutai Hotel. Nice vibe, great view of the Qiantang River. I invited your aunt's family too—who else you wanna call?" Li Bin stood up, wrapping his arms around his increasingly gorgeous wife, voice all soft and sweet.

"Are you nuts? Fanhai Diaoyutai Hotel?! A casual meal there's tens of thousands! Why not save that cash for a house?" Wen Wan jumped, scolding him, too thrifty to let it slide.

Seeing her like that only made Li Bin feel shittier. Wen Wan was a damn good woman—a rare, honest wife. And here he was, screwing around with her sisters and her mom behind her back.

Today, he'd even banged some housewife on the sly. Thinking about it, Li Bin felt like a total prick. A real scumbag.

He swore to himself he'd make it up to Wen Wan—treat her better from now on, no matter what.

"It's fine, babe. It's a rare treat. I'm making money now—buying a house isn't my only goal anymore, you know? We've got a place to live."

"Making Mom happy, making you happy—I'd spend anything for that." Li Bin gently kissed her cheek, chuckling. "Don't worry—give me a little time, and I'll get us a villa this year!"

"Shame on you! Old married couple like us, and you're still like this! Fine, fine, your call! When did you get so sweet and filial?" Wen Wan blushed, leaning into his chest, shyly muttering, "Honey, I feel like you've changed lately. You were never this smooth-talking before. Mom's different too—she's crazy about you now, treats you better than me, her own daughter. You don't even know—today when you weren't home, she wouldn't let us eat, said we had to wait for her precious son-in-law. I'm almost jealous!"

"Isn't that a good thing, darling?" Li Bin grinned, kissing her juicy red lips. Wen Wan melted, closing her eyes and kissing him back.

Soon, they were locked in a deep, passionate makeout.

"It's good~~ but it feels kinda unreal~~ Everything's changing so fast—like you've suddenly gotten so amazing, and I'm scared I don't deserve you~~ I'm terrified of losing you~~" After the kiss, Wen Wan looked down, her voice small and insecure.

"Silly wife—you're my woman. What's this 'deserve' crap? When I was down and out, you stuck by me. Forgot how your parents pushed you to ditch me, kick me out? How you stood up for me? Listen—no matter what I become, you're my wife. My only wife." Li Bin gazed at her, hit with a sudden "with a wife like this, what more could I want" vibe.

Wen Wan was honest, frugal, grounded—not into flashy shit, easy to please.

Life with her could feel dull sometimes, but a woman like that? She's the real deal for a wife. Li Bin knew she'd be a hell of a mom someday too.

"Look at you! Mouth sweet as honey now—no wonder Mom and Wen Lan are all over you, treating you like a damn treasure!" Wen Wan giggled, pecking him back, then perked up. "Oh, right—tonight my bestie and her husband invited us for late-night snacks. Should we go? It's been ages since I've seen her."

Hearing about her bestie, Li Bin paused. "You mean that nurse, Ling Hanrui?" Wen Wan didn't have many friends—just this Ling Hanrui, from what he knew. But Li Bin didn't like her much.

Ling Hanrui's husband, Cui Tianjiao, was a doctor—high paycheck, steady gig, big social cred. Total prick with a superiority complex. Li Bin had eaten with them before, and it sucked—Cui Tianjiao especially, always acting like hot shit, subtly hitting on Wen Wan while trashing Li Bin's writing gig with snide digs. Made Li Bin hate the pair.

Back then, he'd have dodged it hard.

But now? Fuck it, he wasn't scared. Meet up? Sure. His cash flow was about to steamroll that doctor prick soon enough.

Used to be he couldn't hold his head up around them—now, he had zero fucks to give. Time to flex a little, show 'em up! Plus, letting Wen Wan go alone? No way—he didn't trust that sleaze.

Cui Tianjiao was bad news—Li Bin could smell it. Man to man, he'd bet that bastard had dirty thoughts about Wen Wan. Just like he, honestly, had some ideas about Ling Hanrui.

Men, huh? Li Bin figured they're all the same—eating from their bowl, eyeing the pot next to it!

Now, with the system in his corner, Li Bin's thoughts about Ling Hanrui were getting a whole lot spicier!
