Chapter 145 - Chapter 145: Du Jianjun’s Lecture

"No way~~If it's fake, how's there a MixC Rolex boutique receipt and POS slip?" Wen Lan, curious, pulled the invoice and receipt from the gift bag, muttering to herself, "This can't be fake, right? You can't forge this stuff~~"

"Sis, you don't know—high-end fakes these days can mimic anything. This is child's play~~" Du Bin snatched the papers from Wen Lan, smirking smugly.

But mid-sentence, he froze.

"Fuck! Holy shit!! Damn!! It's actually a MixC Rolex boutique receipt!! This isn't fake?! 129,800 RMB! Damn! Over 100,000 for a watch? Brother-in-law, you're loaded! Wouldn't that money be better spent on a car for Auntie?" Du Bin shrieked in shock.

"What?! It's real?!" Du Jianjun flinched, grabbing the receipt from Du Bin, staring dumbfounded, shaking his head.

Shen Yun glared at the watch in Shen Han's hand, seething with envy and jealousy. She'd long wanted a Rolex, and though she could afford it, spending over 100,000 on a watch felt too extravagant.

For them, luxury items like a Rolex were tempting, but actually buying one? That was wasting money. Cars, real estate—those were smart investments. Spending on luxury was reckless!

Still, despite thinking Li Bin was wasteful, they couldn't help but envy Shen Han's watch, coveting it.

"Xiao Bin, be honest with Mom—is this watch really over 100,000?" Shen Han suddenly felt the watch burning her wrist, but the more she looked, the more she loved it, asking Li Bin with aching concern.

"Of course it's real, Mom. How could I give you a fake? Wear it. A woman should have some jewelry. This watch suits you—noble, beautiful, elegant, refined! Only you make it shine. Its purpose is to highlight your grace," Li Bin said, smiling as he fastened the watch on Shen Han's wrist, then casually addressed the group. "Let's drop this—it's just a watch. Come on, let's eat cake!"

Li Bin signaled the server to cut and distribute the cake.

Everyone sat back down.

This time, the vibe turned weird.

The lively mood shifted to shock, disbelief, envy, jealousy, and concern.

Everyone's thoughts churned, the atmosphere heavy.

After a moment's silence, Du Jianjun stood first.

"Li Bin, I've got something to say. You might not like it, but as your elder, I need to guide you," Du Jianjun said, adopting a superior tone, standing with his glass raised toward Li Bin.

"Go ahead, Uncle," Li Bin said, quickly standing with a smile, raising his glass to clink with Du Jianjun's, leaning forward respectfully.

Though he didn't like Du Jianjun, the man was an elder. In this setting, Li Bin didn't want to embarrass him, keeping his glass deliberately lower.

Seeing Li Bin's deference, Du Jianjun's expression grew colder, more arrogant. After a light cough, he spoke directly to the group, "You did a great job today. Everyone's happy. You're a good kid, very filial—we all see that."

Then his tone shifted, his face stern. "But you can't throw money around for the sake of appearances. This huge banquet hall, this table of food—it's gotta cost 30,000 to 50,000! I've seen big scenes myself. I'm a boss, and even I wouldn't splurge here."

"We're family—you don't need to flex on us. We wouldn't mind simple home-cooked food."

"Plus, you haven't bought a house, and you're driving a little Toyota, yet you buy a 100,000-plus watch for your mom. Sure, it's filial, but it's reckless! How much are you even earning? Already acting cocky? I run a business, make hundreds of thousands a year, and I wear a 10,000 Longines."

"Think I can't afford better? That I'm poorer than you? No, I know money shouldn't be wasted! If you're so capable, buy your mom and Wen Wan a car, get a house! What's a watch good for?"

"My words today are harsh, but as your elder, your family, I'm saying this for your own good! If I didn't care, I wouldn't bother. Understand, Li Bin? Take my advice, and you'll benefit for life. Ignore it, and you'll regret it!"
