How fast is Godspeed?
In truth, what is called Godspeed isn't a conventional "fast movement" ability. Rather, it's the power to shorten the duration of travel.
Instead of "moving from Point A to Point B at hundreds of kilometers per hour," it's the ability to "move from Point A to Point B in zero-point-something seconds."
Rather than physical acceleration, it's a power that distorts the time required for travel, compressing it to near zero.
Some feats of Godspeed users in the original work demonstrate how terrifying this ability is:
When Godou used Raptor, he was fast enough to see Luo Hao's movements in slow motion, as if she were moving at 1 mm per second. The only way Luo Hao could hit him was by using Mind's Eye.
On the other hand, Luo Hao herself was so fast that a single attack appeared as thousands of spears thrusting simultaneously. Though there was only one spear, it looked like a thousand spearheads stabbing at once.
Even Zhu Ganglie moved so quickly that his shadow lagged behind.
"…"
In Godspeed mode, Ren perceived everything around him in slow motion. This allowed him to observe the structure of the spacecraft in the sky while maneuvering to dodge lasers.
The Kur civilization's spacecraft looked futuristic yet bizarre. Their ships came in various shapes and sizes, resembling a blend of mechanical insects and ancient architectural structures.
There were massive ships that looked like floating cities, with numerous modules and fins protruding in all directions. Their surfaces were adorned with intricate carvings and glowing energy lines, showcasing the complexity of their technology.
Smaller ships resembled metallic praying mantises, with cannon barrels at the front, ready to fire lasers.
Others were flatter, disc-shaped, moving with incredible speed and agility, serving as reconnaissance or light combat units.
Overall, the armada appeared as a fusion of different civilizations, united by a common purpose.
"I'm afraid without Campiones, Earth would've been conquered long ago. Compared to humanity's technology, which hasn't even reached Mars, the Kur civilization's technology can traverse the universe."
Realizing the vast technological gap, Ren was grateful for his Campione powers. He disliked feeling helpless or relying on others.
*SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!*
The relentless barrage from hundreds of spacecraft displayed tremendous momentum. Yet, unbelievably, all these attacks missed Ren's body by the slimmest of margins. He employed all sorts of maneuvers to evade the deadly spacecraft assaults.
Sometimes, Ren performed aerial tricks resembling flight stunts, while at other times, he surged forward with full power at maximum speed. Dodging light-speed attacks was truly Godspeed.
"Alright, charging complete. Time to strike back."
Positioned among hundreds of spacecraft, Ren halted his movements. While evading attacks, his body had been absorbing pure solar energy. Now, his body radiated an intense, blinding light—not the fleeting light used for speed, but a more potent, lethal glow.
"Blazing Horizon!"
Ren activated the secret attack mode of his Solar Flash Divine Authority. This technique transformed the light energy typically used for speed into an intensely scorching wave of heat.
*BOOOOOM—!!!*
Standing amidst the enemy armada, Ren unleashed a massive explosion of fiery light waves that swept through everything in range, burning, melting, and destroying anything in their path. The light wave spread in a semicircular arc, engulfing dozens of spacecraft in an instant.
The released light resembled a solar flare, with heat sufficient to trigger thermal explosions in the surrounding area. The spacecraft hit by the wave didn't just explode—they melted into shimmering droplets of molten metal before evaporating into dust.
*BZZZZTTT!*
The air around him trembled violently, and the desert landscape below burned to ashes, creating a terrifying sea of flames. The sky was filled with blinding white light and billowing black dust from the destroyed ships.
Ren, at the center of the explosion, remained unharmed. He stood tall, his body enveloped in light, gazing at the falling debris.
"Tch. I thought that attack would finish them all. Guess I underestimated the enemy, huh…"
Ren clicked his tongue in frustration. Ignoring the extreme heat and the drastically altered landscape caused by his attack, his gaze fixed on the ten surviving spacecraft. They were protected by energy shields that neutralized the destructive power of his attack. Their technology was more advanced than he'd anticipated.
"Hm? Gundams? No, mechas?"
Ren's eyes gleamed. From the hulls of the remaining spacecraft, hundreds of robots were deployed.
These robots resembled giant humanoids, each about 20 meters tall, with thick armor and futuristic weaponry in their hands. Their designs were menacing, with sharp angles, glowing red eyes, and unimaginable weapon systems.
They were the Kur civilization's strongest combat units, sent to face a threat ordinary spacecraft couldn't handle.
"Realizing lasers and cannons are ineffective against me, they changed tactics. Smart move."
Ren smiled, acknowledging that his enemies weren't foolish. They learned from his initial attack and adapted their strategy. But he wasn't intimidated.
"But… just because you're bigger doesn't mean you're stronger."
Ren landed on the ground, now turned to glass from the extreme heat. He stared at the robots surrounding him, his expression filled with excitement.
He felt no fear. On the contrary, he was thrilled to finally face worthy opponents. The real battle had begun.
"Perfect timing. I happen to have one Divine Authority I've never used since acquiring it. Though it's not efficient for this fight, I can't let it gather dust, right?"
If Ren wanted, he could use a Divine Authority with massive destructive power. However, he chose not to, opting instead to use a Divine Authority he'd never employed before.
